I had a 5pm appointment; checking in was easy. I filled out some documents electronically prior to the appointment; a few more had to be filled out in person. I waited about 20 minutes to see someone. They told me that the initial appointment will be a bit longer due to me being a new patient. The dental assistant was nice, she took pictures of my teeth. Then I was introduced to the friendly Dr. Frederickson; we had a discussion about my teeth health and what to expect. The Dental Hygienist, Monique was very personable; took my X-rays and initiated my teeth cleaning. I booked another appointment a month out to get a filling on a cavity. The second appointment, was great. The whole appointment took about 20 minutes. I had a small cavity filled. The Dentist was very professional and had amazing bed side manner; she walked through every step that was happening. The whole process was easy and painless. From the day it was put in, until the day it fell out on its own, it caused pain, gum swelling and intermittent migraines. I returned to Dr Sanford for 4 additional visits with the same concerns and reported pain. On the 4th visit Dr. Sanford was visibly angry and very aggressive in his approach in examining the crown and overall area in question. He was also insistent the crown work had been completed 5 years prior and vehemently disagreed with my statement of 4 months until he found the date in my medical records. After 4 visits with no visible progress made, and now having a frustrated doctor taking it out on me, I choose another dental group to reinstall a proper fitting crown. It, along with several other crowns that I have had for many years are working great! Between Dr. Sanford's inability or interest to make the appropriate corrections and his highly unprofessional behavior, I requested a return of payment. He wrote a letter placing responsibility on me, the patient, for the dental issues. He refused to reimburse but instead advised me to come in again to see what could be done. Candidly, when I have an issue with my car, I do not give the mechanics 4 chances to get it right. Why would I have a lower standard for my own personal dental health? The service provided was sub-par at best. At the very least, a refund should be made. Simply a dreadful experience!

The receptionists are rude and NO MATTER how far out you ask for an appointment, they act like you've asked the impossible and that looking into the computer for some available times would be fruitless. They text you for a "reminder" of your appointment, to which I've responded. Then they email you and tell you you didn't reply and this is followed up with a RUDE conversation with one of the receptionists. All of the dental professionals are kind and talented, making it the best possible experience. This change to a more corporate office may have improved Dr. K's business model but I know of other long timers who have left or are planning to do so just because the "gate keepers" make it so bad.

She wasn't responding to the insurance company request for additional information to process the claim. Also, the doctor wrote in my chart that I had 52 minutes of anesthesia when I didn't! They billed insurance for it. Even though they made me pay for it up front. When I told Mae I didn't have anesthesia she didn't believe me and wasn't going to give me the refund I was told I would get since I didn't have it. All around a very negative experience.

We were shopping orthodontists and met with him. He gave us a quote which was $600 more than a competitor (even with a discount) and he pressure sold us into going with him. My child wanted to get braces on as soon as possible and he said he could do it the following week, but we had to decide right then or the discount was off the table. So we did. Still kicking myself!! Note, our experience with the staff as a whole was great! Just not Rosenberg! We had another meeting with him and my child and I both agreed after leaving that meeting that he was just awful. But we were already too far in. At one point, he quoted me one price for a particular type of retainer. At our next appointment my child wanted that particular retainer, but the price suddenly went up on us. He tried to talk us into a different one (which was not as durable). When I called him out on the price change he said in a not quiet voice in front of everyone "Are you calling me a liar?" And then threatened to drop us as clients. It was such an uncomfortable, unprofessional situation! If it weren't for my child sitting right there (I'm sure so embarrassed) I would have given him the business and called him out on his behavior and then dropped them in a heartbeat!! I don't "hate" people, that's not who I am. But I hate everything about Rosenberg. I don't think I've even written a negative review in my life until right now.

TERRIBLE dentist!! The worst!!…read more She didn't tell me that I had an extraction site that failed to heal seven months after extraction, leaving an ulcer in my jawbone, then sold me 4-unit bridge that concealed the extraction site 15 years ago. She also placed a highly carcinogenic and allergenic 78% nickel and beryllium post into a tooth with root resorption, to anchor the bridge, which caused my jawbone to hurt and turn black. When my jawbone started to swell up and an MRI of my head at UConn showed a cystic lesion underneath her bridgework, she INSISTED there was nothing underneath the bridge and refused to remove the highly carcinogenic post unless I paid her another $3500 because, as she told me, "I don't wake up and go to work every day to help people. I wake up and go to work every day to make money." When I pointed out that not only was I allergic to nickel, but that the MSDS of the alloy she used to fabricate my post states that the alloy is contraindicated for use in posts because it causes FATIGUE and TUMORS, she told me that was too bad because I would never be able to prove that I had cancer (she told me that her husband is an oncologist and anatomical pathologist at St. Francis Hospital ) or find an oral surgeon to biopsy my jawbone (UConn has the only oral pathology service in the State of Connecticut and Dr. Keefe teaches dental classes at UConn Dental School and mentored with Ellen Eisenberg, head of oral pathology). She was right. I guess UConn and St. Francis doctors, dentists and oral surgeons all cover up for each other. For the last 15 years, no oral surgeon would biopsy my jawbone and no oncologist would see me. When I got a hard swollen cervical posterior lymph nodes last year, and had another MRI done at UConn the day after Christmas, I saw that there was a NEW lesion under two crowns she placed in my mouth. Still, no oral surgeon will biopsy my jawbone and no oncologist will see me. Do NOT trust this dentist and if you do go to her, get copies of all the x-rays and any photographs she takes, so that you can get second opinions before it is too late. She took a photograph of the ulcer in my jawbone, but unfortunately I didn't get a copy of it until 4 years later. Do NOT trust her, even if you think she is your friend. I thought she was my friend, our kids went to school together and we went to Cub Scout meetings together. She solicited my business thru this friendship, FALSIFIED my dental/medical records by writing WNL (within normal limits) in three places (where it said Bone, Oral Cancer Screening, and Root Tips) and then STOLE from me, BULLIED me and called me delusional for thinking that nickel and beryllium were toxic. She never even gave me a chance to get a second opinion about her "WNL" diagnoses or her toxic treatment plan (did not even tell me she intended to use the IARC Group 1 carcinogens nickel or beryllium). Bone lymphomas are highly curable, especially when caught early and NOT treated with known bone carcinogens. I have also attached several photographs to this review, because unlike this dentist, pictures don't lie. UPDATE JULY 6, 2015: Dear Dr. Keefe, You have had the option of responding to this negative review in a professional and compassionate manner and offering to fix your mistakes. That is what is so great about Yelp reviews. Unless, of course, your treatment of me was not a mistake. But then, that will be your legacy. Not mine.
