OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE. From start to finish - start being arranging two 90 minute massages concurrently (which always takes advanced planning and patience with every massage place!) to the visit itself. We picked a date and arranged our massages via telephone and email. We later tried to rearrange our times, which wasn't possible, but the team was super responsive and very kind and tried so hard to make it work! Which we really appreciated. We arrived a few minutes early to complete the forms, and were treated to a warm welcome in a calm, inviting space with zero stress vibes. The two massage therapists who worked with/on us were both there to greet us, both super friendly and excellent vibes from the start. My husband was treating me for my birthday, so I was hoping for excellence, and we got it. He had deep tissue, and he said he was extremely happy with the results. It was both invigorating and relaxing for him. I wanted pure relaxation, so opted for Swedish Massage. I was so relaxed, I fought sleep the entire time b/c I wanted to experience the excellence that was taking place. Every single part of me was relaxed - I was in a near coma state of bliss! I walked (oozed?) out of the place afterward feeling 100% whole and completely at ease. We were lucky enough to leave there and head to a hot-tub at our hotel (Hilton, Scotts Valley - lovely place) and that was just perfect. And did I mention how affordable it felt! It was about $110 (I think) for 90 minutes - plus of course a good cash tip b/c it was well deserved, and you should ALWAYS tip our massage therapist! I live about an hour from this place without traffic, but we will definitely be back! I am a bit of a massage hound, and this place is worth the trek and the effort!!! read more

What a FIND! I am visiting Napa, and as a ten-year retired Massage Therapist myself, I am quite selective when I choose to receive a massage. The owner took so much time with me to learn about my needs and wants and then recommended Annie who was just amazing. The space is so charming, super clean and very relaxing. The heated massage table hit the spot and Annie knocked out every bit of tension in my body with her expert hands, hot towels and some warm stones I added on. I felt like my massage was customized precisely for my needs. The finale was my face massage - I felt like I had a facial on top of the massage. So give Jessica Russo a try. You won't be disappointed. She is both meticulous and thorough. And she takes her time, never in a hurry to rush through an area because the clock on the wall says she should. She spent more than an hour working on swelling in my ankles and feet, and she nailed it on both legs. Though she says the reason for this is because she's obsessed with perfection, I think it has much more to do with her kind and giving nature, which is so evident in her touch. Those are two qualities I want in a massage therapist. And it's not negotiable. Otherwise, what's the point? Let's face it, choosing to spend money on massage therapy when you don't have a lot of money to spend means you need to get the right therapist, one who will give you a good return on your monetary investment. We called early Friday morning and Jessica was able to schedule back-to-back appointments for us. She was very intuitive, using just the right pressure to provide both relief and relaxation. My neighbor has been raving about Gail Creeksong at Awaken Massage Therapy for MONTHS. I've been under tremendous stress and she kept telling me Gail would help me get my body back to normal and stop the constant aching. Well, I finally did it. Don't get me wrong, I love massage. It's not the idea of getting a massage that had me holding out so long. The thing is, I owned a massage clinic and I had to sell it because I developed rheumatoid arthritis and my hands just wouldn't allow me to work anymore. I haven't had a massage since I closed my clinic.. in part because I didn't trust anyone except my own therapists. Let me tell you, Gail changed all that! I went for an hour and a half cranio-sacral massage and the stress just melted away! What in the world was I thinking??? Was I in denial that there are extremely competent, highly trained and insightful massage therapists other than the ones in my own little world? I'm happy to say that there are! Yes! And they're right here in Scotts Valley. The waiting area is very welcoming and the staff is very friendly and professional. When I arrived, Gail was waiting along with Jennifer Way, another therapist. Jennifer smiled and asked how my husband was doing. She had worked on him about three months ago for a sciatica problem. When I told him, he was impressed that she would even remember him and take the time to ask about him. Gail took me back to the therapy room and asked all the right questions. Temperature ok? Lighting ok? Something under my knees? Etc. Her touch was perfect and the results are amazing! Gail was trained in the Upledger Institute technique as well as John Barnes' myofascial release method and she went to a local massage school. Snuggled between a bagelry and a chiropractor in Scotts Valley, awaken is a little slice of heaven. I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Tricia, who performed my deep-tissue massage. For 60 minutes I was rubbed in all the right ways, the tension leaving my muscles. Awaken has a lovely calming environment, perfect for welcoming relaxation. I'm a big fan of deep tissue massage to keep my active body functioning and to relieve stress. There are a lot of choices in the Santa Cruz and surrounding areas for massage, but I will choose Awaken Massage every time. Wendy gave me the best massage I have ever had. I hadn't had a massage in years and had some seriously painful spots in my upper back and shoulder. I asked for medium pressure and she knew exactly how much. She quickly found the spots that were radiating pain without my having to point them out. Hands down - the best! Have been to Maria and Wendy. Have taken my kids to them too (due to sports). Accommodating, flexible, quick to respond to appointment requests, very knowledgeable in anatomy - not just the art of massage. Their massages (after at least 30 years of trying many) I would rate at the "best" rating - and highly appreciate that they adjust to whatever ails you as needed! I have two reviews that I'm going to combine into one (because they are both 5 stars) My first is about Gail Creeksong, I saw her because she does Craniosacral (I think thats spelled right). Anyways I saw it to help my migraines. I truely believe that it has worked, not to get rid of them completely but definitely has helped. The thing about this type of massage is that I knew NOTHING about it but Gail was so sweet and explained everything. The massage allowed natural release in my brain and since I've seen her I've noticed I've been taking less of my migraine pills. My next review is of a massage today I had by Jennifer Way. Jennifer I've seen for Swedish, Polarity, and Hot Stone massages. Today I had a combined Swedish/Polarity massage with one of Jennifer's spa add on treatments. So far she has The Mermaid (which is algae based), Coconut Bliss, Peppermint Bliss, and Pumpkin Bliss. Today I chose the Peppermint Bliss. The massage was amazing that like I always say my body felt like JELLO. Plus the Peppermint scrub is invigorating and smells amazing. There are not enough nice things I can say about Jennifer. Today we were both laughing and she puts me at ease, Jennifer is very professional and friendly . During the massage she always makes sure you are warm enough, if the pressure is ok, and basically makes sure you are enjoying the massage. With some people in business you can tell they are pretending to care just to make a buck but with Jennifer you can tell she truely cares. I let her know the stresses that have been building in life and I can tell she cares and has empathy and tries her very best to allow complete relaxation during the massage. Of course I will be back to see her. One more thing I would like to add is about the owner Maria Willis. I've never had a massage by her although I'm sure she is just as professional and great as the other staff. I Love this place. I went and had a treatment done by Jennifer Way. She was professional and very sweet.The treatment was called coconut bliss. It was a peaceful and tranquil environment. Jennifer massaged my feet and neck with a delicious coconut lotion, she also exfoliated my legs and feet with a special coconut scrub. The treatment was about 45 minutes. I felt like I was floating on a cloud. The staff was super kind and warm. I will definitely go back to Jennifer for more treatments. She's the best! read more

Wendy Lobaugh. Remember that name. Write it down. Call her. I enjoy an occasional massage, but I had a mastectomy and have lymphedema in my right arm from breast cancer. Most massage therapists only "kind of" understand my massage needs. Wendy understands them completely. I met her accidentally, and now I see her every 5 weeks. She has made a difference in my life and my well-being. A massage typically starts face down... for lymphedema it's different. You need to start face up, and get the lymph system pumping at is maximum capacity. My lymph system is compromised, but it still works when Wendy coaxes it to be its best. I understand that she is awesome for others, but with me her lymph expertise has not been matched. read more

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for a couple of things. One, for the wonderful massage. It was really the best I've ever had and I felt fabulous afterwards. And two, for your recommendation of "night splints" to help relieve my pain from plantar fasciitis. It took a trip back to the podiatrist for me to get them approved through my insurance, but I've been wearing two dorsal night splints for the last week and it has made a miraculous difference! I was giddy with excitement after just a few days. The relief has been that dramatic. Why in the world haven't my doctors recommended this before?
