A really good friend suggested we go on a road trip to Boonsville. (I had a college buddy come from that town so I was aware of the town.) So off we go. It is as the name says "Awesome." It is a small store with lots of country decor plus more. Tea towels, jars of sauces, jams, a dog section, indoor or outdoor decor and the list of what you can buy goes on. We chose the in-house deli for lunch. I was more than pleased with the choice. (I saw a gentleman's sandwich and decided from there.) The deli uses Boar's Head deli meats. I got the reuben which is put together a bit differently, but that difference is what made the sandwich. They toast the bread, warm the ingredients and then put the sammy together. No greasy mess of a sandwich falling apart. It was juicy, delicious and satisfying. My only complaint is that they do not offer chips or pickles as a side with the sandwich. You can buy a bag of chips, but no pickle. Small town. There's a refrigerator with beverages and take out meals. We had a grand 'ol time driving up and back. Saw the sites that we could see. Parking is OK for the size of the place. All the staff were helpful and friendly. They have smallish shopping carts, but it seemed like most people start their collection of goodies and leave them by the register. They also have a brunch on weekends. I always support small businesses, especially in a small town like Boonville, but this was one of the worst experiences I've ever seen with a business owner. The atmosphere feels extremely hostile if you're not part of her inner circle or if you don't have money to spend. Locals know how people are treated behind the scenes, which is why many of the customers seem to come from out of town. The owner has a reputation for tearing down other small businesses instead of supporting them, and constantly copies ideas from others rather than creating anything original. Competition clearly isn't handled professionally here. Beyond that, cleanliness was a major concern. I personally noticed signs of mice and roaches in the store, which made me very uncomfortable shopping there. Some products are nice, but many can be purchased directly from the original vendors instead. Small towns thrive when businesses support each other and treat people with respect. Unfortunately, that is not the experience here. read more

Great place to visit. They were having a small craft fair and the opening of another building and business on the property. Freight House - which was wonderful and I will review it separately. The large "Awesome Country" building is very country selling gifts and decor, candy, spices, baked goods, etc. They have a deli, cheese section pizza and the special hot meal was a chicken bbq! Served with the most delicious, moist, well seasoned oven baked chicken. It came with bbq beans, salt potatoes, corn and Mac n cheese..all delicious. For $12, my friend and I split the meal and I even had a little to take home.(my picture is missing a bit of food since I had already taken some out.) I'll start by saying I really do like their products, but..... their ordering/customer service is a disaster. I ordered items on 07 Aug, received a conformation e-mail the next day (08 Aug) which said they would notify me when the product shipped. They also charged my credit card on the 8th for the order, I waited......nothing. On 15 Aug I e-mailed them to ask about my order, waited.....nothing. On 18 Aug I e-mailed again about the status of my order, waited....nothing. On 20 Aug I called the phone number listed on the conformation e-mail to inquire about my order. It instantly went to a recording that asked if you wanted to leave a message for "Kim". I left a message. I then called the number listed on their website (different number). Low and behold it was "Kim" who answered the phone. I inquired about my order, she gave me a story about how they have been doing county fairs, festivals, swap meets, etc, and nobody was doing order filling/shipping for the past week or so. But............my order had been shipped on the 18th of Aug so I "should" get it soon. I received my order on the 21st, whoopie! So the take away from this is that they take your money as soon as you order. Then wait a week or so to process it because there is no one around to do it. And they ignore your inquiry to the order or send you anything to let you know the status of your order. If I didnt like their products so much I would not order from them. So let the buyer beware, dont expect much in the form of customer service. And by the way, this is exactly what happened last time I ordered from them read more

This store has over 150 vendors and only takes a 25% commission to house all their products. I am not sure what their best seller is BUT I go here for the "Chicken Shit" dips which are 3 jars for $20. The make your own dips are also phenomenal and easy to make. They have a sample bar. Not only do they have a million beautiful handcrafted items to support local artists, they also have a "barn style farmhouse" section that you can book for parties and the ladies do the catering and decorations. Its a place that I have always wanted. Its gorgeous inside and so many amazing crafts available at such reasonable prices. They also have GREAT hours and superb customer service. I get a BLT sub one day and the woman making it says there is 12 ounces of bacon. The sub was incredible! Then, I stop selling my cookies there because the owner tells me to put the expiration date one month after I make my cookies (who the heck needs to buy month old cookies?) So, I go again to get my BLT sub and there were literally 2 pieces of bacon on the entire sub (yes, I have the picture). The owner is nothing but an old woman who bullies people. It's disgusting what she's done to other businesses in Boonville. read more

An incredible buffet, well worth the trip... and the price. For a buffet worth its weight in gold they should charge more. Finally got a chance to stop in and it was even better than I expected! The front of the store is filled with various crafts, tasty treats, dip mixes, flavored dipping oils, pancake mixes, maple syrup, and many other items. The next room also contains more crafts and foods, but also a bakery area and food service. We had a steak sandwich and a Reuben...YUM! Stuffed from just the sandwich. I'm not doing a great job of describing how nice it is and how good the food was. If you're up this way, stop in and you won't be sorry. read more

Had stuff to do in Camden for the day but made the drive to Boonville to check this place out and we were not disappointed. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and most helpful. We were sorry we only had an hour to spend before they closed but we WILL return to spend an whole day there so we can properly take it all in and have lunch and enjoy the entire experience. Incredible customer service and delicious food!!! I cannot speak highly enough about Awesome Country. Their deli sandwiches are delicious - they pack on the fillings too. It'll probably be messy but in the best way. Shoutout to Kelsey for being so friendly and kind!! I called to place an order and no one answered, but Kelsey called me back within a few minutes. They close at 6pm and I was coming through just before, and she made sure my sandwich was ready and said she'd stay until I arrived so I could grab my dinner.
