Over the summer, I sent my son to this Dancer's workshop camp to have a fun and wonderful experience, however, I soon realized that things weren't right as my son began to tell me about the disturbing way that his instructors treated him. At home and even at school, I strongly push my children to learn and speak Spanish alongside English, but after I sent my child for a few days to this camp, I noticed that my son didn't feel comfortable speaking Spanish anymore. At first, when I tried asking my son what happened, he wouldn't tell me, so I decided to wait until he felt more comfortable. Finally, when my son told me what was bothering him at camp, I found out that he was continuously being punished and shamed in front of his class for speaking Spanish. It is difficult for me to even begin to describe how outraged I felt when I realized what my son was enduring daily and the negative effect that it was having on him. According to my son, his instructor, whose name is Karen , at one point dared to tell him, "you're not Mexican, you're American". This is beyond unprofessional and borderline discriminatory, and I'm appalled by the fact that an establishment such as the center for the arts could allow for such behavior to occur without any reprimand. While I wish that I could say that this was the only terrible experience during this camp, unfortunately, it isn't. During pickup time on a particular day, I saw first-hand how little care the director and instructors have for children's safety. On one occasion, when I went to pick up my son, I was informed that my son's instructors carelessly allowed him to walk home by himself without even giving us a phone call. As a parent leaving my child's safety in the hands of the instructors at this camp, I expect that they make sure that children properly go to the correct people, yet this is an area that they don't give much attention to, which is deeply concerning. I almost had to threaten to get the police involved for the staff to take their job seriously and find my child, who was walking on the busy streets by himself, and worse of all, the instructor who found him then tried to shift the blame onto my child, instead of taking responsibility for their negligence. Ultimately, I speak out from a place of frustration, disappointment, and, most importantly, as a parent while writing about the atrocious experience that my child went through during their time at this camp, and I hope that by sharing this information I can help other parents from making the mistake of sending their children to an establishment that has unprofessional staff who are incompetent, negligent, and discriminatory. As I finish writing this review I think that it is a disgrace how one of the only establishments dedicated to the arts in the town of Jackson Hole could have such serious flaws in the way that staff care for and treat children, and I can confidently say that I'll never send my child here again.

We had a fantastic day with Gage as our climbing guide. It was not our first time climbing but we…read moreare also not super experienced in outdoor climbing. We chose a one day rock climbing experience at the Hoback river (AKA "the shield") for $600. They do offer half-day experiences but it's not much less money and given how different outdoor climbing is from indoors, and that if the weather is nice you can just take some breaks, I would recommend the full-day option if you are considering a one day rock climbing experience. Compared to climbing before this in Moab and considering our climb was not in the park (Tetons), it was still beautiful and felt more "customized" than our previous outdoor climb. Gage recommended routes but also took our input and was patient throughout the day to ensure a great experience. We also looked at Exum, who charged slightly more to climb around Jenny Lake (apparently the park only allows two permitted companies to operate in separate places around the Tetons), we ended up going with JH Mountain Guides and did not regret our decision. I would consider the multi-day climb in the future if we could save up the money for it and experience the beautiful views of the Tetons with these guys. We weren't totally sure of our level but the Shield offers a variety of different leveled climbs from 5.5 and up. As the day went on, and with Gages' incredible enthusiasm and support (super easy going guy), we gained confidence and ended the day on a 5.9 climb. Gage carried all the equipment and showed us a variety of climbing techniques during our day. A group of 3 (including the guide) is really perfect for this type of experience. JH Mountain Guides also climbs in another outside-the-park location which has more beginner routes. Given all the choices for outdoor activities and high costs to do anything in/around Jackson, rock climbing for a day with these guys is a solid choice that I would recommend to others.

(Cross posting this here & at Wilderness Trails as this is where I initially researched the…read morelocation) My 10-year old LOVED our stay here - it was the highlight of our trip and she's begging to come back next year for a multi-night ride into the mountains. The camp is great though definitely expect rustic accommodations with the exception of the beds, which are (heavenly) real mattresses. The horses and ride were great - very well-mannered horses and a wonderful evening ride through wildflower-filled mountain meadows, creeks, and up and down reasonably challenging terrain. What my daughter (and I) loved most were the people - Sam was a great cook and friendly guide and our other guide Mariah was incredibly patient with my daughter's barrage of questions and let her help put away tack and feed the horses after the ride. A truly memorable Wyoming experience with many great memories.

This is such an amazing, relaxing and secluded place! There's nothing else like it around. The…read morestaff is great and the horses are gentle and well trained for trail riding. The trail ride was such an adventure for this Texas girl who's use to riding on flat ground! The fireside dinner was excellent and the beds are comfortable. It was nice not to have to set up a tent once getting to the campground, everything is ready for you! There is a convenience store closeby if you end up needing anything. It's also just down the road from the entrance to Yellowstone so it's easy to make this horseback riding adventure one of the stops on your trip!
