for a Sunday afternoon I thought this place would have been busier, like it's counterpart across the parking lot. like any typical Mexican place they music is cultural specific, which is good. playing to their strengths. thei exterior seating is uniform, but feels more café style than south of the border. the chips are typical, not overly salted, but not freshly made either. the salsa is great, a few small chunks of tomato, but well balance with a little kick at the end. the guacamole, however, is a touch too salted, but there is a nice blend between smooth and chunky. there's not a lot of filter either, so you're getting a lot of avocado. service is blah. the bartender was sitting on the side of their bar waiting for people. and then when there was an apparent switch, there was no hand-off. and then it's been silence ever since ordering what I did. this might be why this place isn't as hopping as S.O.B. - service needs to improve. more interaction! I may be the only one at the bar, but staff should be attentive and out here too, not hanging out inside. what if I wanted a refill?! could I just walk away and not pay? likely at this juncture. come for the food, not the service. read more

Paying $14 for a chemical lime mixture that has no passing resemblance to a mediocre drink. They need to do better for that price point. read more

The portions are huge and definitely had leftovers for the next day. We ordered Carnitas taco plate and a taco salad bowl. We also ordered two margaritas fyi there is no price on the drinks menu and we didn't know but they were about $14 each! They were not very strong just a lot of liquid. We discovered this restaurant driving home from our vacation to North Myrtle Beach and stopped here for lunch. The food was excellent and kept us full for pretty much the rest of the travel day. I got the beef enchiladas and it came with a hearty serving of beans, rice and a hefty salad. The red sauce on the enchiladas was very flavorful and the meat was tender and cheesy. The house margarita on the rocks was refreshing and not terribly strong. We sat outside on their nice patio that was decked out with string lights and canopies but they have a lot of indoor seating as well. Clean bathroom was a plus. Friendly and attentive service, too. I wish they had a location in NJ, but I'm glad we stopped by- incase we are passing through the area again, we now know of a good Mexican restaurant! read more

If you're looking for a Tex-Mex restaurant with mad flavor, then this is your spot! The portions are huge and the flavor of each dish is off the charts good! My husband and I had lunch here today. This is a new restaurant in Brunswick Forest in Leland. I've been to the one in Wilmington several times. The food is always good along with great customer service. I can say the same thing for this place. When we arrived, almost all of the tables were filled. The bar (I counted 18 bar stools) were empty. We were seated in a booth near the bar, but asked to move to the bar because the spacing at the booth was pretty tight. The other booths looked to have more space. We were given a basked of chips and fresh-made salsa. Not spicy, but flavorful. I ordered the lunch flautas, which were filled with chicken and topped with melted queso, lettuce, and a side of rice and beans. I meant to ask for black beans, as I'm not a fan of re-fried beans (but they were good). My husband had a steak burrito from the a la carte menu. He said it was very good. I had a glass of wine with my meal. I asked for a Pinot Grigio, but they didn't have any, so I had a Sauvignon blanc. Jose was our server and he was very nice. There is outside seating with many tables. However, you cannot order alcohol at this time, only if you dine inside. How crazy is that!? I hope they get their license soon. Dropped by for a snack and cocktails on Saturday afternoon. Ordered specifically two plain Mexican margaritas, two tacos for me, and a quesadilla for my mate. The food was mediocre and the margaritas were underwhelming. Actually, just a bunch of sugar water. But then the bill, $38.00 for the two margaritas. And, not even good ones. Recent visit was a disappointment. Haven't been in there in awhile due to a previous poor experience but thought I'd give it another try. Maybe I expect too much as a Quality Service Professional. Ordered some onions on my enchiladas and incurred a 50-cent upcharge. OK. My guest ordered the ACP chicken, and it was dry when normally it has a generous portion of queso on top. I suggested that my guest send it back to the kitchen for a remedy, but she instead decided to settle with what was offered. It was too dry to eat so at the end we asked for a box to take it with us, noting it was dry and asked if they could provide some addition queso for it. The server brought what appeared to be a 1 once cup of queso, which showed up on the bill for $1.50. Now queso runs about 50 cents an ounce, so that's like a 200% upcharge. Not ok. That dish should never have come out that dry. I told the server that I was not happy with that upcharge given that the dish was dry at the drop. Server said they would take it off the bill. I asked to speak to the manager so that he would be aware of the issue, 'dry rice and chicken'. He offered to take the $1.50 off the bill and explained that the rice sopped up all the queso. Huh?!? I suppose he assumed that it was first time ordering ACP. He said the queso got all sucked up in the rice. Really, between the kitchen and our table? Quite the feat as the chicken covers the rice and the queso covers the entire dish (at least in a Quality kitchen. Thats some magical rice and with some unique 'suck-up' properties....sucked the queso off the top of the chicken! I didn't feel that they were apologetic at all. Not service Quality centered. I mentioned that up charging for all the condiments will hurt the business (it already suffers at a 3.7 rating on yelp). No attempt to ensure that I would visit again....so I won't. There are too many good mex restaurants in Wilmington that don't nickel and dime you. From the great hog callers a quote "Hog calling is not about the sound; it's about the passion and emotion behind the call" This little piggy didn't feel any of that. adiós para siempre read more

I ordered stuffed Jalapeños and two California Burritos for take-out. They were extremely busy when I arrived. The place was filled inside and out, with more people waiting to get in. Staff was active and scurrying. Everyone on staff was busy. I waited for my 25 minutes for my order and heard many complaints about poor service. I chalk it up to up to overcrowding. Upon arriving home we devoured every morsel. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection - even though the staff was under such pressure. Worth the wait. read more

I had my fingers crossed. The interior was new and neatly appointed with lots of room inside and outside. I always want to see local eateries succeed. However I was mightily disappointed! I have had great Mexican food in southwest Texas and Mexico. So I am no novice. I had enchiladas verde and my wife had three Carnita tacos. All were relatively tasteless. My enchiladas were supposed to be beef but it did not look or taste like beef; dry and tasteless. My wife's tacos were also dry and lacking taste or seasoning. $40. The service was ok. Worst service of my life. Spend a little extra time and drive over the bridge to go to the Wilmington location. Will be way more worth your money and physical patience. I understand this is a new location and they are trying to get their feet off the ground, but the customer service is so poor especially on a Friday night. It is totally unacceptable. My party was ignored for 30 minutes after asking for chips multiple times and there were plenty of open tables. Had to approach the hostess stand twice to get assistance and finally was able to get a manager to assist on the second time. Manager got us chips right away, but never once apologized for the service we received or offered any sort of discount on our check. Save your time and go somewhere else. read more

My family ordered to go and they forgot an items, we called to let them know that and they acted like that wasn't possible, my wife and sister in law drove back to get the item and the manager was dismissive which is a shame as we know the owner owns a number of establishments in the area. Having been regular customers of their Oleander Dr location for the past couple years, we appreciate the friendly welcome and consistently good service we receive. Our food is always good and any modifications we request are accommodated. Their large outside dining area is quite inviting but if inside dining is more your thing then there are plenty of seating choices there too. read more
