I'm physical ill about this. I just lost my mother, a long time resident of Mesa, and i wanted people she knew to see her obituary. How are people suppose to see it if there is not one copy anywhere.

Self described as "Arizona's luxury magazine for affluent desert living" it features everything you need to make it in Scottsdale. Honestly though, snootiness and kidding aside, it is pretty useful. They always have features on new restaurants and shops in the area, a fashion and style section, and information on events and day trips. The plastic surgery and cosmetic dentistry ads are hilarious and the ads for million dollar homes make me drool.

He charged for a core feature on our website that him and his team developed. It didn't work for over a year. He then tried to bill us to fix it. The website had 404 errors way before he changed servers and then sent a bill to fix it, but he blamed it on the new server. He also illegally got into our customer database, on the server, and retrieved one of our admin log in credentials and then used those log in credentials to make himself another admin account after we terminated his services. To this day he refuses to give us our backups of the website or ftp log in credentials so we can migrate the site to another host after we spent upwards of 150k with him. I would steer clear of this company because they charge to fix issues that should have worked from the get go and break in to the backside of your website after their services were terminated. Picked up this free newspaper at the Sprouts on Ray and Dobson and learned a little more about the…read moregoings-on in Chandler and thereabouts. Self-declared as "relentlessly local coverage of Southern Chandler and our neighboring communities", the news features cover community theater, upcoming festivals, local impacts of impending legislation, puff pieces on local businesses, and school sports. With free publications such as these, I often get more out of the ads and hunt down restaurant coupons as an excuse to try new dining establishments (spoken like a true Yelper, ahem, gourmand). This newszine does not disappoint. I found plenty of buy-one-get-one-free offers and other enticing coupons for local eateries and food shops. They also have a respectable restaurant guide derived from the on-line resource www.chandlerlocalbites.com. Now that I'm better informed, I won't have to trek through Hell and Creation to find my nearest dining adventure. But I'm still gonna stick to my budget and save me some money on the meal. All the more reason to go a little nuts and splurge on drinks and dessert! (Yes... there is a method to my madness.)

I grabbed East Valley Woman to flip through while waiting for my bagel and coffee. That was the…read morelast positive impression I had. I have never been so motivated to write an unpleasant review. There are some great free and low cost pro-business woman magazines. Some of them are actually quite good. So I'll admit I was expecting it to be something the level I'd seen before. Heck no. This magazine is the equivalent of watching an hour long infomercial. Sure, there might be some funny parts or things that make you go Hmmm, but you can't go more than a minute without that reminder that they are trying to sell you something. I think there might be 2 whole "articles" there that are not sharing ad space on the same or facing page for whatever business or service is being discussed in the article. (Example, 1st faux-article "My New Year's Resolution: Become a better networker" filled with how important networking is for your business and an ad at the bottom for the author's company, with her email and phone number for a seminar for "International Networking Week.) And if the ad isn't right there, flip a few pages - because they're all here. And of course, there are no "Advertisement" notes at the top of these things because they might as well just put it on the front cover. It's a giant ad! Anyhow, I'm guessing their ad space is cheap because all the articles are in big font and double spaced and the ads are huge. This 28 page magazine is New Times sized when it should have been Old TV Guide sized. Their tag line? "Empowering Valley Women" Really? Really? I know it may be asking too much, but how about a little more honesty in advertising? If you see this laying there next time you're out, I suggest just letting it lay there. Unless you really love infomercials.
