In another life, I would design…read more I am one of those, 'I can do it myself' type people-- especially when it comes to creating brochures, posters, invitations, etc. WELL... I just recently learned that while that is true MOST of the time. SOME of the time, I need a little help. Luckily, Allegra came to my rescue. I designed a front and back party invitation for my mother-in-law's birthday. (If I say so myself, it was pretty stylin.) I tried to upload it from home to print elsewhere with no prevail. The image kept showing up blurry and I couldn't remedy it. *** Let me preface all of this with, I am a millennial. I prefer emails, text messages... online communication. *** SO I searched the internets for a local fix to my problem that WOULDN'T require me to pack up my toddler to head to a store. Alas, Allegra. I uploaded my file, sent a quick message outlining my issue and telling them what I wanted printed. I got a quick reply from the Graphic Design Manager informing me that they found the file to be blurry, too. I couldn't fix it on my end, so I sent them permission to the document via Canva. BOOM. They fixed it. Had it printed in hours. Sarah and Celeste were BEYOND helpful. My invitations looked better than even I imagined. If my stint with QP is any indication of how the business is run, I have this one piece of advice for you: STAY FAR, FAR AWAY. Here's the skinny: I was applying for a job in town and had forgotten to print off my cover letter. Realizing this half-way to drop off my application, I remembered "Hey, Quick Print & Signs is just around the corner, I'll just pop over there and print it out." Boy, was I wrong. I walked up to the counter and explained my situation to the frowning clerk there. I asked her if I could print one copy off really quick. Without confirming that, indeed, they are a printing company and have the capability to print a 1 page cover letter, she immediately asked me if I had the file on a flash drive. I explained that unfortunately I did not. But I had the cover letter in my email inbox and asked her if I could just open it and print it real quick, offering to pay whatever the going rate for one page is. She shook her head 'no' and explained that I needed to have it on a flash drive or send it to her in an email. I thought, as many in my situation would, that maybe she didn't hear me correctly. So I clarified that the file was simply in my email and I just needed to print it off. Again, she said "no you need to have it on a flash drive or send it to us in an email." So, politely bargaining under the assumption that she did not trust a stranger on their computers, I asked if SHE could just open my email with my provided username and password to print it out for me. She again refused and said that I needed to personally send it to her in an email. I was stumped. So I agreed, then, in a slightly antagonistic manner, I asked if I could use their computer to send the file to her, (since, apparently, the robot behind the counter could not compute that the file has the same size and content no matter where it's opened.) She refused a last time and said "and I'll still have to charge you $12" $12? 12 dollars... for a single copy of a half page cover letter. Are you serious??? Good luck in your future endeavors, QP. You've definitely lost a customer.

The most infuriating aspect of the whole deal was that they refused to give me a quote before the service. The counter clerk told me it would be anywhere under a hundred dollars and that they wouldn't know until they made the copies. On top of being unable to quote me and ridiculously overcharging me, they took almost 6 days to finish the job. I have always wondered how they stay in business.

As far as merchandise goes, the front of the shop consists of various printed tees, sweatshirts, beanies, hats, prints, and stickers. Behind the counter is where a lot of the equipment for printing designs on clothing is located. But one of the coolest parts of the shop is a wall that features HHP's past work of posters for bands, musicians, and other events. Half Hazard has made tour posters for big names like Selena Gomez, Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean, Pitbull. They also made an official poster for the movie "It." They have also done some sweet collabs with local businesses like Coffee Hound and Illinois Tattoo Company. The staff is super friendly as well.
