I've stayed at a lot of B & Bs in a number of countries. This one was right down there with the…read moreworst of them. There was no one there to greet us or let us in. We had to call and wait. The man who let us in acted as though we were inconveniencing him. I was told to make my own breakfast the next morning. Then on most of the other days (I was there several days for business), there was someone there to cook breakfast but she rudely told me that they had noticed I was in too much of a rush to eat breakfast a couple of mornings so they had decided that I wasn't "a breakfast person" and so I wasn't "on her list" and she had nothing for me. Last morning, there were a number of guests having breakfast and it looked as though there was enough food. I ask for some and was grudgingly given the tiniest slice of quiche I have ever seen. (There was more left over.) It was cold as a tomb in my room. There was a little rickety table, but it wouldn't hold my computer and papers, so I ended up working on the bed. Probably all for the best. i needed to stay in bed to keep warm. I've stayed in some pretty dodgy places, much less beautiful than this one, but never have I encountered such coldness and rudeness.

Very charming and clean. Our room was lovely. The neighborhood seemed decent (right across from a college). Free off-street parking, free wi-fi. Must be able to get yourself and your bags up to the second floor as there is no elevator. Also, they prefer cash or checks for payment, and payment is taken before you check out. Very comfortable, clean, and nice place. If I'm in Erie again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here. Oh! And it's inexpensive too!!!

There are only two rooms that are in the house with your hosts. But there was plenty of space and privacy. For my husband and I. Norma is attentive and fun! Her communication is stellar!! You are surrounded by grape vineyards and elderberry complete with ducks, roosters and a pond on 86 acres. We walked the grounds, Norma gave us a little tour of the elderberries and they were currently harvesting them for an Apple festival. The grapes were in full blown this time of year so the delicious smell of grapes was in the air. You are close to great restaurants near by we went to a local favorite Freeport restaurant. This is close to Freeport beach which history was made by the first woman who swam from Canada to Pennsylvania. After we came back Norma gave us a piece of her homemade cake that mimics her mother's recipe.it was my birthday weekend. It was so good I asked for the recipe!! In the morning we were blown away by our fresh country breakfast of eggs (freshly gathered that morning) homemade muffins, fresh fruit (not canned) grape juice again homemade (you are on a grape vineyard farm, of course!). Pancakes, bacon, coffee, hot chocolate. The sweet conversation they sat with us and made us feel like we were family. I was moved to tears when I first walked in feeling overwhelmed by the coziness and feeling of family missed greatly. Before we left she gave me two bouquets of flowers from her garden as a birthday gift. If you need peace, family and country living for a minute this will make you feel well rested and a touch of home. You heart will be glad you stayed.

Amazing wood framing and floors, private guest rooms (two share a large patio off the front of the house), two kitchens and so much more! The owners are the sweetest! They are more than helpful, accomodating, knowledgeable about the area (history and local events). Plus, they make a killer breakfast! As a "green girl" I sincerely appreciate the heath and sustainability of the couple and the property. Your eggs can be fried with coconut oil and paired with fresh vegetables from their garden. They compost and only clean with sustainable products. Also earth concious, they have solar panels and water efficient toilets. The rooms are cozy and the beds comfortable as can be. Even the pillows were great - I know because I usually have to travel with my own due to my TMJ. The master suite has a phenomenal hot tub (see pics) which is well worth the stay right there! Better than any of the finest hotel tubs in Vegas, which I know first hand. Note, it's right off a semi-busy street in town and you can sometimes hear the traffic, but when the windows and doors are closed you barely hear a thing. I highly recommend and can't wait for the opportunity to go back!

As I looked around in every room, on every wall, on every table and in every nook there was a well decorated elegance and charm - books, throws, photos, art and even grand pianos (2). More importantly Marty and Ann are the quintessential hosts. The perfect balance of charming and engaging without hovering around. I called their number and got to speak with both of them and their warmth, and hospitality, was obvious. We stayed in one of the cabins and it had everything a hotel room would have. Actually more, as we had a small couch, and dining table to sit at besides normal hotel features. Top that off with a delicious breakfast that included, meat-cheese-veggie omelet, whole wheat toast, homemade YOGURT from a cow next door, with homemade jam. Homemade oat bread, and something else I can't remember. D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! I want to mention that we were asked for any dietary restrictions during our reservation phone call. I encourage you to spend a few minutes chatting with Betty and Al. These humble, unassuming, wonderful people have led very interesting lives. Having been college educated Artists, they chose the farm life and have been farming, painting, sketching, and doing pottery, their entire adult lives. Truly amazing people worthy of a Netflix documentary. For entertainment we went to Mortal Key Brewing, and Gatehouse winery just down the road who had 2 live music stages going simultaneously.

Had we read a review expressing what we and others have experienced, we never would have stayed. The host and hostess are lovely genuine people who enjoy having guests in their home. The breakfast food is good, homecooked and bountiful. Lynell is a great cook and a very sweet lady. Her husband is quite the talker. The back house, where we stayed, is fabulously unique and historical - there is a lot of potential in the hosue and the rooms. But it is just odd. The front house where we had breakfast offers a warm decor at least in the common rooms (did not see any of the bedrooms in that house). Here is the reason we would never stay again and why I am writing this review. We were dropping our child off for their freshman year of college at Allegheny. An emotional time to say the least. The host was quite overbearing at all of our breakfasts, even to the point of being simply insensitive. It was difficult and uncomfortable to enjoy our breakfast with the host literally standing over us talking and making insensitive remarks about parents crying as they dropped their students off at school. As well as making similar attempts of jokes towards the students at the table - my heart went out to the young man at the table who appeared to be seeking a way to run away from the scene. We didn't find it funny nor did the other guests there - it was awkward laughter. In talking with other folks who've stayed there we found they had the same experience. We were surprised the host takes a picture of all who stay there while they're eating breakfast. Sometimes I laugh when I think of what that picture must have looked like - I can imagine a look of surprise and horror on my face when suddenly I look up at a camera flash goes off in my face. Every night at 9pm there's a free ice cream social in the breakfast area. The room was spotless and I love the bath and body works shower toiletries. The TV is a flat screen and it's a nice size. The front desk and the housekeeping staff are very friendly and will always smile and say hello or have a nice day as you pass by, a nice touch. The bed is just as comfortable as I remember and I found myself checking the tags on the bedding and pillows so I can buy them- they are very soft and cozy. I would absolutely recommend this hotel if you are in the area, and it is not too far from Conneaut lake area if that's your thing too. There's a decent selection of chain restaurants a few stores/shops to browse.
