Azul apartments is very cheap and their management is not great. When we moved in everything was painted over, the counters were sticky, and you could not get up little hairs from the countertop. Very overpriced for what you get when you move in. All the appliances are out of date, when I turned on the oven it used to pop a fuse lol Homeless people break into the laundry room and take bird baths in the sink and speaking of the laundry room it always smell like sewer and has no AC RUN AWAY AS FAR AS YOU CAN! 1 bed 1 bath for 1,300 is outrageous!!!!!! I have never left a bad review in my life - I'm very good at giving the benefit of the doubt - but this place is HORRIBLE. If I could give a -5 star review I would. Also, I worked in housing for years (so I KNOW how this stuff works) and these people don't have any idea how to provide good or professional customer service. I'm genuinely shocked how many people put up with them. Alright, so first off, they NEVER RESPOND TO VOICEMAILS OR EMAILS AND THEY HARDLY EVER ANSWER THE PHONE. And a lot of times when you go into the office no one is there and you have to wait. Second, our truck was locked and someone broke into it and stole all of my husbands expensive work tools and cut his light bar off the front of the truck. So this place is SKETCHY. Next, our apartment was NOT cleaned. It was "renovated" and that meant that everything was painted over. There was HAIR AND BUGS in the paint and the paint would peel off ALL the time. Our sink was painted over. As the paint started to peel, A LOT of rust started to show (which ended up being the case for shelves as well which - by the way - were also covered in this gross dusty grime that had to be scrubbed and scrubbed and I used a trillion cleaning products and finally gave up). There is also something SO WRONG WITH THE WATER. Our toilet would discolor and MOLD within a couple days. That is NOT normal, and when we would shower there would always be a YELLOW GRIME RESIDUE afterwards. The apartment claims they don't let residents smoke in the apartments, but they are allowed to smoke outside. So even if someone hadn't been smoking in our apartment then the SMOKE and WEED from our neighbors was coming through our windows and vents - which by the way the windows don't seem to be sealed at all so it was very difficult to sleep since we were able to hear everything outside - especially with the trains!! Our apartment smelled like SMOKE AND WEED SO BADLY when we moved in that I got an INSANE MIGRAINE from being in there FOR ONLY AN HOUR. The first three days we had to drive two hours to stay with my husband's aunt because we couldn't live in the apartment. The office kept saying they would send in an ozone machine to supposedly help with the smell, and they NEVER DID. They told us we needed to be out of the apartment when they brought it in, so we made a week free for us to leave (which my husband had to take off work for) and the office said they would for sure bring in the ozone machine - THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. I continued to wake up with headaches every day we lived there. And believe me - we tried EVERYTHING to get rid of the smell. We scrubbed the walls with vinegar, we left vinegar in bowls around the apartment, we had candles going every second of every day, etc. Next, we had to leave our apt in an emergency, and they said the breaking contract fee was $2,200. We explained our situation and they said if we got them certain info that they would work with us. They did NOT. I don't think they even looked over the information we gave them. When our new place was trying to contact them to get our tenant info, Azul wouldn't respond. This was a MESS. Luckily our new apartment complex realized Azul was not going to cooperate, and since we had amazing ratings from everywhere else we lived, our new apartment complex approved us. OH and when we moved in, the dishwasher looked brand new so I was really excited and THEN our dishes kept coming out with RUST on them. So, I took the dishwasher apart and found dishes that were rusted stuck in there. I scrubbed it all out and cleaned it. It's fine now. The washer and dryer are in good condition and the oven is nice. LITERALLY the only things I appreciated. The carpet in the bedroom is in decent condition and the wood flooring would be nice if it wasn't SPLATTERED IN PAINT. But once again - anything painted (cupboards, walls, sink, tub, etc) ALL HAD HAIR PAINTED IN. Our vanity sink also leaked like crazy so there was water damage when we moved in that didn't ever go away and just increased. Our kitchen sink also had water damage. The office claimed to have fixed it and they definitely didn't. We also didn't even use some of the cupboards because they were so gross - even tho they had been painted over - which haha is a pathetic way to clean and "renovate". When it came time to turn in our keys, we explained the sink situation and a few other things and that we scrubbed the apartment and that it should be spotless, (I USED TO CLEAN HOUSES SO I KNOW 100% HOW TO CLEAN EVERYTHING) the office said whether the apartment was clean or not they had to take $125 out of our deposit to send in cleaners. Keep in mind our deposit was $200. Even with all of this, my husband and I were very kind and patient - that's just how we are. BUT THIS PLACE MADE ME PHYSICALLY SICK. LIVE SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

Before moving in I have received nothing but friendly and hostile service. The office is normally jammed the beginning of the week due to it being closed through the weekend but the staff always seems to Handle the rush accordingly. I am not good with names but everyone in the office have been nothing but great to me and my wife. If you want a nice place to stay I promise you not to stay here since I've been here the water has been off by surprise multiple times.. even a whole day. With no warnings or apologies until I had to go out of my way and call the office. I called for maintenance and was rejected/neglected multiple times. (Don't even get me started on when they've actually helped me) the place looks nice until you live in it and you realize little things like you don't have a plug for your bathtub, the spout for the water is so hard it hurts for water to come out and parking sucks, if you're living with a roommate you only get one parking spot so the other parking spot you have to go on a mission for and sometimes your parking nowhere near your apartment and walking in the cold just to get back to your place which is ridiculous and very confusing. today the only gate you can exit from broke and So there I was sitting at the exit for five minutes back-and-forth trying to get the gate open just have to go through the non-exit sign gate in the front. Keep in mind there is absolutely no space for me to exit there safely. I had to get out of my car park it, unlock the side door to get to the front gate, plug in the code, then run to my car and hurry out of the property. These problem shouldn't be so regular but they are, one time I got locked in the gym and had to literally open the screen window and crawl out late at night... The only reason I agreed to live here was because my roommate picked this place close to GCU and ended up turning it around on me and not being able to pay her rent so here I am stuck with this place until my lease is up. Wow.. so I wasn't going to say anymore but today I came home the same day I wrote my review this morning.. I was walking upstairs and saw that my stairs are completely broken apart (which seems to be a reoccurring thing here since there are more than just my pictures posted) I might as well add that when I came into this apartment they didn't clean the walls before they painted over them and I know this because there is hair glued by paint stuck all over the place and I don't have curly hair so... yup. These pics my be gross but it's something you need to see. I am such a clean freak so trust me when I say.. the drains have been like this since day one.. nothing will clean them. Stay far, far away from this horrible apartment complex. The apartments are cheaply made with paper-thin walls and worth maybe half of what the owners charge. There are massive potholes throughout the complex that went unfixed for the two years I lived there and I've had to pay to fix multiple flat tires because the owners can't be bothered to maintain their property. Maintenance is shoddy beyond the potholes: my upstairs neighbor let a toilet run long enough that a large portion of my bathroom ceiling collapsed, and repairmen just threw up a new ceiling without adding insulation, abating mold, repairing the bathroom fixtures they damaged or repainting. The front-office staff turns over frequently and are uniformly horrid at keeping records: I was wrongly charged fees upon moving out at the end of my lease after the community manager quit. The gate is frequently broken, meaning homeless people stay in the complex and non-residents dump trash in and around the dumpsters. There's a sign by the giant pothole at the entrance that says "live well, love your home," neither of which would be possible in this overpriced dump. read more

I lived here for 7 months and just recently moved out. This is a 2.5 to 3 star place to live. It would be a 4-5 star place because of the amenities, cost, and quality of the apartment. However, it is extremely loud here which makes it the opposite of a relaxing place to live. It was so disruptive that often times I didn't even want to be home. There are constantly young kids running around screaming, jumping out in front of your car, etc. at all hours of the day and night. When I brought this up to the leasing office in the form of an email, they didn't even respond so I didn't feel like I'd be supported if I actually went in to talk to them about it. Either something needs to be done about the noise of the unattended children or they need to install some thicker windows. read more

Azul staff is unprofessional and inexperienced. Their apts are very dated and not kept up. They fail to do required matience and what they do is half ass. I went over two weeks with out hot water. They discriminate against disabled people and Africa Americans. Every year the rent increases and the amenities decrease. They advertise they are pet friendly but last year they removed all of the grass except for two small areas. They cut down shade trees and removed all of the benches and outdoor seating areas. The walking areas are all broken down and cracked . The washing machines are always broken. They have a very high turnover rate. Everynight homeless people dumpster dive. There is NO Security. When she reached out to someone else and came back on the phone to let me know if they were able to assist her tone changed. I'm not sure what happened but it wasn't the fact that I wasn't able to get help that bothered me it was that I don't feel the way I was being talked to was appropriate. I've been living here for 6 months and had my tub break down 5 times and my washer machine break down 3 times they don't fix nothing at all all they do is patch things and say well there's nothing we can do but to keep patching things. Management have the worst attitudes when you speak to them. I pay to much money to have problems 24/7. And I pay my rent all the time two to one week before never been late. These apartments need upgrades. I've had mold and rust in my apartment they tell me oh just keep the fan on. That's running my electricity that they don't pay. Probably the worst apartment complex I've lived in. It's obviously not in the best area, which is not the fault of Azul, but there are homeless people wandering the property a lot of the time. My specific apartment unit did not include a washer/dryer, so I used the laundry room on site. It was fine until homeless people literally moved into the laundry room and started sleeping in there. There was no lock for awhile preventing anyone from entering. They were smoking cigarettes in there with absolutely not ventilation, I didn't feel comfortable leaving my clothes in the washer or dryer while there were homeless people in there. The worst incident was when somebody literally took a crap in the corner of the laundry room. The smell was so bad that I could literally barely do my laundry. This went on for a few weeks until I informed the leasing office. They said they would do something, and they eventually put a new lock on the laundry room door. It's great they fixed that issue, I guess, but if you think about it, they either knew this was going on and did nothing to resolve the issue, or maintenance just literally hadn't been in the laundry room for weeks to see firsthand what was going on. Either way, it doesn't look good on Azul. The apartments were INFESTED with roaches. I've had issues at apartments before, but nothing like this. I'd find around 20 of them just crawling around my kitchen every night. Id find them in my fridge, microwave, etc. Yes, the complex does provide pest control, but I was never home Fridays and did not want anyone in my apartment while I wasn't home, and the spray doesn't last very long. The exit gate which was sometimes broken, was not a huge deal, but then you have to take a NO EXIT exit on the other side of the complex and go all around the light rail which takes forever. The rent is WAY too high to put up with this kind of situation. I lived here for almost 2 years, and I'm so grateful I finally got out of there. I found a place in a central location, 50 more square ft, and a washer/dryer within my unit for only $40 more per month. I'm sure Azul will get on here to refute all of this, which is what they usually do, but all of this is true so I really don't care. If I would've known all of this before I moved in, I would not have moved here. I hope this review helps someone out. read more

So it's been a month since I moved in. Although it was gently requested by the manager, I am not raising my rating. It's not deserved. Move in day: Couldn't find my lease agreement for me to sign (unorganized). No keys were made. The fridge issue still wasn't fixed. Although they took care of it that day, they had plenty of time to fix the issue. And only some of the paint issues were addressed. Didn't get a mailbox key. Didn't have a car pass for me to get in the gate. About a week later (only waited that long because I went out of town): Asked about my mail key. Got some unwarranted attitude in the form of "rolling of the eyes", "slamming of the key on the desk", and "waving me off in a shooing motion" (bad customer service) No one decided to inform me that the key was ready. Also, learned why the maintenance guy was amused when I made an issue of not having a gate pass for my vehicle. The gate is never closed. The complete opposite of what was told to me about security. As they boast being a gated community. Not only is the front gate never closed, another gate is just broken altogether (does not exist). Pieces of it sit off to the side. Today: Asked about the turnover for maintenance requests. Got attitude again from the same staff member from before. I was hoping the last instance was an isolated incident because they were busy. Today the conditions were very different (calm) and still with the attitude. Anyway... I asked about the maintenance request I put in when I did my walkthrough. I can only open the dryer door 45 degrees towards the wall (poor attention to detail). I have to use a make-shift hook to get my clothes out. Her answer: "oh there's nothing we can do about that" That's not the answer I got when I put in the request. And there is something they can do about it. They can replace it with a dryer that has a door that opens in the right direction... Another issue no one felt the need to update me on. I also asked about the maintenance request I put in about a week ago. My dishwasher doesn't work. I don't think it's even hooked up. I'm not going to risk hurting myself or damaging their dishwasher trying to do it myself. And her attitude got a little worse when I asked about it. There was a little bit of a back and forth on this one. There are a few other random issues but I don't feel like going into them because this is already really long. In conclusion, I'm kinda regretting moving here. I was planning on staying here about 3yrs. I'm rethinking my decision. But I guess that's what I get for picking a place like this so I could save more money. I'm pretty sure there are much worse places to live. But I know there are better. You should go there. To end on a positive: Contrary to what I've read in some of the other reviews, this place is really quiet. I never hear my neighbors' music, kids, etc. This place is surprisingly very quiet. I live in a two bedroom apartment the back of the apartment building. The master bedroom is very hot in the summer but the rest of the apartment is cool. Right now in the winter, it is so COLD & the rest of the apartment is warm. When I told the office & they had the maintenance man come take a look at it they said it was because of the way these apartments were built . Therefore there is nothing they can do. I just wanted to share how wonderful Azul Apartments are. We pay our rent on time each month and are respectful to our neighbors. In return, we are treated with a blast of assorted bass music through our floors and walls on a nightly basis. Isn't it nice that all I have to do is sit on the carpet to get a butt massage from the vibration of the bass? As far as entertainment goes, my neighbors are kind enough to bring Jerry Springer live each night as they have multiple questionable people enter and exit their apartment and constantly scream at each other and slam doors. I even got a free earthquake drill when they slammed the door really hard at 2am, jolting me awake. How kind of them to prepare me for moving outside of Arizona someday. I also think I should thank Azul apartments because I now have the Phoenix police non-emergency number memorized from all the out of control partying especially when they sat outside screaming at each other at 2am. I'll never forget the 6am entertainment when DPS raided the apartment complete with several DPS officers' cars and a helicopter. Oh boy that was interesting! I can't forget how generous my downstairs neighbors are. On a regular basis they're always giving me free food from various restaurants. The only thing I would prefer is that they bring it to my door instead of throwing their leftovers going up my steps to my landing. I mean it's only a few extra steps from where they leave off. I just hope that McDonald's doesn't start charging me rent considering I'm forced to spend hours there when I've had enough of the music and arguing. So if you're into constant music playing at all hours of the night and love to walk into work sleep deprived, you should really consider the amazing built in neighbor features that Azul apartments offer. Maybe your neighbors will toss free food near your apartment too! I am editing my review to say that I have complained to the office and each time I have contacted courtesy patrol, I was told a report would be made to the office. All I am told when I complain is that they will talk to these neighbors. This has been going on for months now where the office will "talk to" my neighbors. So unlike the response to my review, it does relate to the quality of the apartments because the office is incompetent. read more

So I just moved in to a one bedroom one bath...and it's beautiful!! The appliances are all brand new plus it comes with a full size washer and dryer! This makes my heart so happy!! Additionally, the layout of the one bedroom one bathroom is beyond cute! Tons of cabinets in the kitchen and super sized bedroom with a walk in closet! The patio is large and the washer and dryer are in the storage closet...The office is amazing! Stacey is the manager...she is fantastic!!! She is always on top of everything and really intent on taking care of her residents. The assistant is Leslie she is so sweet and super helpful! The property is under new management and the improvements are showing everywhere!! The pool area in the front is gorgeous!! Tons of pool side chairs and open cabana areas...plus there is a fitness center on site as well... The location is prime...walking distance to both Einstein brothers and Starbucks...right on the newly expanded light rail that will take me downtown or out to Tempe and across the street from Bookman's...what more can you ask for?? I love my new apartment...I have brand new appliances, washer and dryer, I can walk to the grocery stores, light rail and there are many restaurants to choose from. This community is under new management and ownership and the improvements that they are doing are well worth it. The manager Stacey is awesome and the assistant manager Leslie are so helpful . Kids in the complex can be an issue.....they stay out late. I work the overnight shift and usually leave at around 10:30pm at night. I see children on SCHOOL nights riding bikes in the street, roller blading on the sidewalks, and so on. I've had 4 teenage boys try to break into my car in BROAD daylight! Makes me wonder what goes on at night...hmmmm? The grounds are a mess! I do see maintenance walking the grounds every morning, but they seem to skip areas. I have had food from who knows where near my patio, trash, a dog feces (appearing from large dog) nasty. I have lived on the property for 3 years moving back because, I felt comfortable and felt the office staff really cared. Now, I don't know what to think. Recently I have had a note placed on my door involving an incident with the pool and kids throwing rocks in the pool and at someone's apartment. I really find it interesting the property Manager talks to neighbors and takes word, without contacting ANY of the parents. I myself went to my neighbors about the accusations. I find it really unprofessional and will be going into the office on the next business day. read more
