Sui Yi Lee kept saying that she needed to ask permission from her faculty to start on me but never once did she do it. And no one told me that was going to take 4-5 hours. I l just wanted to get a cleaning done. I never said anything besides wanting to reschedule because I was trying to be a patient and not an inconvenience but when I heard that we wouldn't start till 3 and I was not about to sit on the chair for an extra hour doing nothing.

The professors, admin, and staff are good here. You definitely get the private university experience with a smaller student-to-instructor ratio in all your classes. The university has all the academics and athletic programs and student-run programs. You'll see a lot of current students at the information desks, helping out with campus tours, and everything else in between. University of La Verne (ULV) education quality is comparable to other private colleges in the region, if not better. Especially if you're looking for something more East or inland than out in L.A., ULV would be a good choice. Admission is pretty fair and if you meet their program criteria, you will likely become an honorary Leo, too.

Reflections on transfer student experience: Quickly integrated into social events and groups. Many many offerings including about 5 BSU-related events in 4 days. Each campus has its own BSU, plus there is the office of Black Student Affairs, and so much overlap. Though the overall percentage of Black students could be higher, the ability to find one's people and be supported by the school is great so far. (and there are many professors of color) Lots of new-school-year plant-related events and artsy events (make ___ for your dorm decor and get to know people kind of thing) Professors: there are good and bad everywhere, but so far all professors are great and classes are happening at Pitzer, Pomona, CMC. Treatment of transfers: a little slow. They seem to forget they have transfers at key moments, so resilience when first onboarding is needed. Not a reason to reject Pitzer, just something to prepare for. Academic Accommodations: slow from this office. Much promised but seems so far like students have to bug the office for what is due. Not a reason to reject Pitzer, just something to prepare for. Libraries: as non-students taking a self-guided tour, looks good. Lots of different types of spaces in the beautiful main library, including 2 treadmill desks!. Scripps has a little library that is so pretty. Lovely garden spaces: the Botanic Gardens are HUGE and right next to the CCA (campus-owned apartments where many upperclass can live). Campus has newly revised student garden and associated club. Many lovely spaces on campus to appreciate. Cute downtown has enough to cater to college kids. Case in point...I don't know about you, but why would administrators allow instructors to parlay the break from winter term to Spring term... when these instructions who have online classes will wait till the day of class to say...if you don't complete two tasks then you will be dropped from class...or another instructor wants you to break up into groups only allowing for a short time also...now with scheduling for class.,..looking for a text book and. yes a syllabus...so basically the instructors have from the time you register all the way till the first day of classes to prepare for their students in the upcoming semester. So we're probably talking a month and uh half....they have 6 weeks to get this pertinent info...to the online students...instead of having students drop what their doing personal life work life family life...just stop and do what these instructors want...then with regard to the disbursement award..the verification seems flawed online...so rather than correct what has occurred with untangling the verification process they want you to go out to the school then show yr verification (state ID... military ID,..etc...if you have the opportunity to go elsewhere...DO IT

What really makes the difference is the staff. Ms. Veronica and Ms. Elgie, in particular. They go above and beyond to make sure students don't just get through the material, but actually understand it and apply it confidently. Whether it's just another professor who stays after class to explain something again, or gives you the real and encouraging feedback needed to move forward, these people truly invest in you.
