I love quilting when I have the time. I moved to the area mid-2020 but hadn't managed to stop in here until today when I brought my mother-in-law along (who's visiting from California). What an excellent little shop! Much more intimate and less distracting than going to Joann's or another big box store. The little place was loaded with all sorts of great prints that I certainly haven't seen elsewhere. I quickly loaded up my hand with 14 different fat quarters, dreaming of projects that one day may or may not come into fruition. Such is the way! What I especially liked was the old school furniture tucked away in places throughout the store. I saw a couple of old Singers with their lovely polished wood, and they made excellent use of old cubbies for letter sorting. I'm a mild antique buff (rubbed off on me from my dad and his mother) and appreciate when something old finds a new home and use. The cubbies were filled with 4x6 postcards of fun quilts you could try, with the design on the glossy front and the instructions on the back. I believe these were free of charge, to help give customers inspiration. Too neat! There was an ample selection of colors as well as more exciting fabrics. Many floral designs and stately or muted tones of browns. Definitely good for finding a fabric to coordinate with but not detract from your main piece. I picked up a couple of plaids, which are always useful. There was a seasonal section (currently loaded with Christmas fabrics) that I imagine likely rotates throughout the year. There was a sale section for bolts that were running low, and cheapo $5 baggies of various fabrics that mix well. There was a section with felt and a small amount of flannel. Lots and lots and lots of bagged/boxed sets to choose from that have everything you need for a particular design (not my cup of tea-- designing my own piecing is highly satisfying to me). You'll also find other helpful items like thread, buttons, cutters, and the like. A space in the back with a large table for various lessons/classes (looked like there was one going on while we were browsing, but I didn't want to disturb them). I just moved and was delighted to find this quilt shop was only about 20 minutes from home. I have found my new quilting supplies headquarters! Such a beautiful and plentiful selection of fabric and an inviting and friendly atmosphere. I shopped for two hours and didn't see everything! I have visited this shop for many years. I love that they have so many fabrics and are always willing to help you find options. The employees and owners are welcoming and perfectly happen to let you browse without question but are only a request away if you need help. With so few local fabric shops I will support them all that I can. Online is great for some things but there is nothing like being able to hold your fabrics together and assure the matching colors and texture are good. We need shops like this! read more

I really like this place. They have a great variety in their fabrics. The people were helpful and very sweet. They wait on people and make the customers feel like royalty. This quilt shop is awesome! It has a great many gorgeous Civil War reproduction fabrics, big section of beautiful batiks, amazing number of 1930s-style vintage fabrics, and much more. If you are a traditional quilter or are looking for reproduction-style prints, make this store your first stop! I had searched several other Austin-area quilt stores for appropriate background fabric for my 1930s repro quilt but couldn't find anything that would work. But B&B had a big selection and I found just what I was looking for in order to complete my quilt. I tend to get lost in the Laundry Basket Quilts area of the shop, drooling over their beautiful prints. Then my attention is pulled to the batiks - all those jewel tones melting into one another as I wander the aisles. Oh, my... how am I going to get out of here with just the few fabrics I came for? (Don't tell my husband but I bought a LOT more than I came for. Lol.) The store is laid out very well. Although there is an astounding amount of fabric, the aisles are wide enough to let two people pass easily. Fabric is arranged together by style (Civil War, 1930s, batiks, solids, children, etc.) The walls are covered by stunning quilts of various types. There are many, many smaller quilts here and there and mini-quilts on top the shelves. Of course, they also have a section of quilting supplies and tools. It's easy to find just what you are looking for. The owners of this shop are two sisters and they are really helpful when I need some advice. When I visited in the spring of 2020 and again in June 2021, all the staff were wearing masks. In June 2021, customers were no longer asked to wear masks and I was happy to shop without one. B&B Quilting is definitely my favorite quilt shop in the Central Texas area! read more

One of my favorite quilt shops. They have a beautiful assortment of fabrics and other sewing supplies. I am especially partial to their extensive collection of vintage reproduction fabrics. The ladies who run this shop are wonderful! They treat you like a lifelong friend. When you walk in the door you can tell they are happy to see you. They provide great customer service, and are always happy to answer any questions or provide guidance with your projects. I have not yet taken any classes here, but I do participate in the "Five and Dime" which is a great block of the month program. The fabrics are all high quality, and beautifully coordinated. The patterns for each block are very clearly explained and easy to follow, even for a beginner like me. I cannot say enough about B&B. I encourage you to visit and check it out for yourself. Lovely quilt shop just a short drive outside of Austin in the cute little town of Buda. Large selection of batiks, civil war/traditional fabrics, 30's fabrics, Moda (and my favorite Laundry Basket quilt fabrics), tone on tones, and children's prints. The only thing missing was modern prints but that's apparently not a focus of this shop, which is fine with me as it can be found elsewhere. Well worth the drive from Austin and is nicer and bigger than any of the quilt shops there. read more

Nickel and Dime. So a friend and I decided to do the nickel and dime quilt squares. It would be a fun way for us to practice our skills and have a new quilt top made in the twelve month time frame. The rules as we were told: Every month you get pieces for a new square with instructions and fabric. On the instructions are the next meeting date. You show up, show them the square you have finished, then get the next months square. If you mess up, they give you a 'get out of jail' 5 dollar token. Once that token is used, you have to pay 5 dollars if the square doesn't come out right or are late for the appointed meeting. Easy right. We are five months into the program, and have been nickel and dimed. The first, second and third month were fine, the fourth fell in November. I called B & B on Nov 13 to find out when the next meeting was scheduled since I couldn't find my paper showing the dates. The woman who answered the phone said November 27/28, Thanksgiving weekend, NOT NEXT WEEK, OR NOVEMBER 20/21. I asked twice to make sure I had the right date, according to her it fell on those two days. We showed up on Saturday the 30th, since the shop was closed the two days the woman had told us to come, as it turned out, it was the wrong day. SURPRISE, SURPRISE. It had been the Friday and Saturday of the previous week. I informed her that I had called and the woman had said Thanksgiving weekend. She said too bad, hand over the token or pay the $5. Fine, I gave up my token, my friend paid for misinformation on their part since she had left her token at home. We got our next squares and were off, determined to finish this project. Now we are in December, the next square was due this weekend, the 18th, and 19th. I was not able to go because I was still at work and wouldn't be done till well after 7pm, after they close. My friend graciously took my square and hers to continue the program. She gave her name they gave her, her next square. She gave them my name but they said it would be five dollars since I wasn't there. Of course my friend had my square and showed it to them, she explained I was still at work and would not be getting off till after they closed, and hadn't come the day before because I hadn't gotten off till 8 pm. To bad, it's still five dollars even though she said they didn't really look at the finished square. I can honestly say, if I have to pay again for a program that is supposed to be fun, I won't be going back or giving them my business again. There are other quilt shops in and out of town. I have a tendency to go a little nuts when buying fabric and overspend. The saying she with the most fabric wins, definitely applies to me, as I have willed my insanely large stash to my friend who has informed me she will need another house to accommodate it all. The point I'm making is there was no reason for me to be there, they had my square which they didn't even bother to check, along with the others since I had them baggied together. And giving out wrong information on the phone just to make $5 dollars, is pathetic. I will see how next month goes, but don't see it looking too good after these past few months. One more strike, and they will be crossed off my places to go to expand my stash. ATTENTION B&B owners- Not all of us are housewives or retired, but our love for quilting and sewing is still there. Have a little understanding in the customers you have(had) for you may lose them with your careless stupidity. read more

FANTASTIC store! I was so impressed with B & B Quilting and Gifts. This was one of the best stores I visited on my own personal quilter's shop hop while I was in Texas. The store is very well organized and has an abundance of product. I picked up several new batiks, a new pattern, and even some felt kits. There was one Moda fabric that I wanted but was on backorder. The staff people took my information and will ship it to me when it arrives. The customer service was amazing. When I'm in Texas again, I will be stopping by! This store is a must see for a quilter, and also has interesting points for those interested in sewing or crafts not related to quilting. My mom, neighbor and I were all in the "block of the month club" for several years! This is an amazing shop with warm, friendly owners and employees! We loved being in the block, because we sewed the block, and then took it showed off our expertise, (of which I had very little, but my mom is an expert - and helped me learn), and then we bought fabric and patterns each month when we shared our creation and received the next month's block. The owners are very talented, friendly, fun to spend time with, and it is a pleasure to shop with them! if they don't have something you want/need, they do their very best to locate it, they order it for you, and have it sent to your home! We were customers in their first location, and so proud that they built their business over the years, and have built their own brand new building! Love and proud of them! A true "country store" setting and a friendly welcome as you enter are just the beginning of an adventure into "quilt fabric heaven". You'll find your favorite designers' newest collections, as well as a huge variety of prints, solids, batiks, novelty, seasonal, and traditional fabrics with fat quarters alongside. Pre-cuts, notions, tools, patterns, classes, friendly conversation and a wall displaying the latest quilt masterpieces are always available. Just wandering through the colorful collections is a treat! I find many favorites and just the right colors as well as inspiration for a new sewing project.
