They did a beautiful job on a Taylor's mannequin I had from the 1800's. Lots of detail in the project and they nailed it. Nevae's rocks!

We gave the "Family business" a try as they had a nice story and seemed reputable. I should have checked prior reviews first. They were to recover an 100 year old antique chain with fabric from Calico. The chair was missing a wood wheel from one of the four casters and we explicitly discussed trying replace the wheel but do no remove the casters. The sister Anna agreed that removing the caster on such an old chair was not recommended. They picked up the chair and another item to be covered and we were told it would be 2-3 weeks for completion. After waiting for a month we called and were told they had someone quit and were delayed, at two months we were told COVID and other excuses and when we approached three months I told them I was coming to pick up the items and take them somewhere else and Anna said they were almost done. Another two weeks go by an finally they set a date for delivery. At first Anna apologized an offered a 15% discount for the 3 month delay, problem was she increased the total price by $100 and added a $40 delivery fee so the revised price was the same if not higher than the original. Play cards much? I was so done with these people and the lying I wrote a check to get them off my property but then noticed they removed the rear casters on my chair put felt pads to cover the holes and then put those caster on the front legs and cracked a leg. I called immediately and Adrian ( the brother) agreed he would cover the cost of a proper repair by another shop. We all agreed not to remove any casters and instead they remove all four, throw two away and fake the repair by putting the incorrect rear casters on the front leg. I am now taking the chair for proper repair to furniture care of texas and taking them to small claims for the repairs because they never answer the phone. Beware of people in business who never answer the phone and don't believe a word they tell you as they can't stick to the truth and make endless excuses. This chair has been in my family for over 50 years and is over 100 years old and they could care less that the broke the leg and screwed it all up. Many reviews have similar problems and I wish I had read them before entrusting them with such an important piece. read more

All the other reviews are true. And I hate to give bad reviews to quaint little family-owned businesses. But it needs to be said. These people are not good at running a business. They, like the others on here, told me it would be 2 weeks (tops!) until I would be able to pick up my chair. But then I called at the end of two weeks (I mean why did I even have to call them, they should have called me, right?) and was told it would be another week, and so on and so on until I finally called on the 7th week and said: "You lost my chair, didn't you?" They said, "no, spring break, family emergency, etc. etc." Two months after it was dropped off, the fabulously redone, almost unrecognizable it was so improved, chair was delivered. They had redone all the foam and the wood on the inside, and reupholstered the outside of it, all for the original estimate, with no added fees. So if you're feeling risky and want to throw something in the universe and have time to wait to see if it will come back vastly improved, then go here. Estimates at other places were easily TWICE more expensive. read more

We had some dining room chairs redone in leather with Nevae. They were fast with great workmanship. I would definitely use them again.

They will double your price when the work is half way done, they will damage your belongings and don't give a damn. I'm stuck with damages and they more than double the quoted price, they'll give you BS excuses why they have to charge more and they don't stand by their original quote, they'll do this to you when they have your property half way complete and you can't just take it. If you say anything they turn ugly and don't return your calls and you fear they'll do more damages to your property, I'm going to have to fix their damages on my own, If I ever see them again, it would be at the county court house or hopefully they'll go out of business for scamming customers. I hope this review can help someone avoid these people, you've been warned. read more

Family businesses are still the heart and soul of Austin such as this mom and pop (and sons and daughter) upholstery shop. My furniture was picked up and returned to my home at no extra charge by the owners' very capable sons. The office is managed by their talented daughter who handles pricing and delivery perfectly. Other local upholsters like to tack on $50 each way to pick up and return your furniture but not Nevae's. They do the lifting, hauling and driving for free! In years past, I have sent a number of people to Nevae's but never used them myself and I must say I am happy as a fringed footstool with their work. These folks are trustworthy, talented and timely. My chairs are beautiful and were ready in two weeks. read more

This little family owned shop is amazing. I tried for MONTHS to find the right sized replacement cushions for a Pottery Barn outdoor sectional that they no longer sell. I searched online, in store, numerous locations and found NOTHING. So, I decided to try out this shop to see if they could help by reupholstering my cushions. They came out AMAZING. I recently used Nevae's to have a cushion replaced on my recliner that had been ruined by our cats. My initial impression of them was pretty favorable, they gave a decent bid for the job, quoted me a week turnaround, and explained everything very thoroughly. HOWEVER, once they received our initial deposit, things changed a bit. They promised they would call as soon as the job would be completed, and estimated one week at most. When 10 days had gone by and I hadn't heard from them, I called directly and they promised that the job was just about done, but they were waiting on the foam from a 3rd party. They promised the job would be done on Saturday (3 days later). On Saturday, when I left a voicemail to confirm that I would be coming by to pick it up, they called back as we were en route to their location, to let me know that they still didn't have the foam insert, and that it would be ready on Monday, Tuesday at the latest. When I hadn't heard from them by the next Wednesday, I got a little upset, and demanded to know why it was taking so long. The man I spoke to on the phone said "when I gave you that estimate, we weren't really busy. We've had a bunch of jobs come in since then and haven't had a chance to finish yours." so apparently they don't bother doing the jobs in the order they arrive. When we finally did pick up the cushions that Saturday (3 weeks after dropping them off) the seams were uneven, and the red marking chalk was still all over the beige fabric. No effort was made to clean it off. read more

Really shocked to see the other reviews I have used them for a couple of years now and they've been great! Very responsive, kind and courteous. Honest and prices you can't beat! I've used them on 4 different occasions and tell everyone I know about them. I have used them for recovering high-end antiques with very complicated designs and buttons, and several Cantoni sets. They even came out within an hour to pick up items at no additional charge. It would have been a huge pain to get couch, loveseat and two full sized chairs to them... Love them!! read more

I just had a wing chair recovered at Navae's and I am beyond happy with the results. The chair was a recliner, not my style normally, but it is kept in my guest room and I had some beautiful fabric that I wanted to use to recover it. I didn't have enough but when I took the chair in and asked if we could make it work, Anna worked her magic finding a coordinating fabric and voila...the chair is now my favorite. I couldn't imagine that it could be so beautiful. The workmanship is the best and the price is very reasonable. It was done and delivered before the promised date. I do not have enough good things to say about my experience. This is a family owned shop and Abraham and Anna are brother and sister. The shop is named after Abraham's daughter, Heaven. It's her name spelled backward minus the H. I first needed some cushions for window seats. Abraham and Anna were very thorough in walking us through the different options and made recommendations about what would be more contemporary. They finished the cushions in only 1 1/2 days. I then took in 8 cushions for outdoor patio furniture, 1 glider cushion and 6 throw pillows. I had purchased the fabric on sale elsewhere. When it turned out that the fabric store had underestimated the number of yards that I needed, Anna called to tell me that I was a yard short. I planned to order additional fabric online and called to tell Anna that I wouldn't have it for 6-8 days. She then looked around, found it in New Braunfels and offered to pick up the fabric for me since she attends Texas State. Amazing. And, all of those cushions were completed in only 4 days. Absolutely incredible communication, very quick turnaround and superior customer service. The quality of the workmanship is flawless. Zippers were added to every cushion and pillow. Very well done. Everyone at the shop was a joy to work with. I'm already searching my house for something else that I can have them do. An absolute pleasure doing business with them. read more

Extremely pleased with the job!! Absolutely amazing and best value! They did a huge couch, chair, and ottoman for $1,000. Very attentive to detail and neat! Great customer service, called as soon as it was ready, and always polite. We had another place lined up for $1,200, went to drop off our furniture in a Uhaul on the pre-arranged drop off date, and the place wa closed...with two other customers in the same situation. After a 2 min google search, Nevaes were the first place to answer and take in our stuff 30 min later. We accidentally got lucky with Nevaes and couldn't be happier!! Yes, it took a few days longer than expected but absolutely worth it!! It looks brand new! Highly recommend them! read more

I dropped off two recliners in January and paid in full. I told Abraham that my house was on the market and didn't need the chairs for a month at which time a moving company was coming to pack up and put things in storage and I would like to have them for that. Nevae's said no problem. Anyways, I won't go into every exchange I had with them, but the chairs took about 5 months. I was emailed multiple times, that the chairs would be done "next week". My husband finally stopped in and told them he wanted to see the chairs, as we thought they had lost them. The following week we finally got them and they turned out beautiful. We still haven't gotten the pillows we ordered from them. They told me that they had to use that material on the chairs since it was a geometric pattern, but I ordered the pillows separately and paid in full for them as well. I have emailed them about the pillows a week ago or so and they have not gotten back to me. I did get excuse emails about not having time to get to the chairs because of graduations, divorce.....etc. I love their work, but not going to use them again. read more

Nevae's Upholstery is fine unless there is a problem and they do not, absolutely do not stand behind their work or their word. They assured me they could repair a recliner. It was taken to a welding shop, welded in the wrong place and broke within a week of being returned to me. I was promised it would be fixed by the owner along with another chair they didn't repair as promised. So after $135 I still have broken chairs and they do not respond. I definitely would not recommend this company. The worst part is not that it was a mistake or incompetence on their part - it's the promise they made afterwards and then not honoring it or even having the courtesy to return emails or calls. read more

do not waste your time even getting an estimate! i took a very simple job in - a shower curtain - they assured me it would take a week or two. i gave them three. upon arrival for pickup they had yet to even start the job and had made no effort to communicate with me. i then gave them another month and a half and again upon arrival for pickup they had yet to start the job with no effort to communicate with me. moreover, they had trashed the sample curtain i had taken in as an example. absolutely no apology. they told me i was offending the matriarch of the shop for being upset by their horrible lack of service. please do not patronize this shop!! read more

we got the 2 chairs back. They look great. It did take 2 weeks instead of one and I had to send a couple of emails to find out the status, but the chairs were well worth it. They were not easy and the job was excellent. They came in the rain and had them covered with plastic to protect them. We are very happy with them and would recommend them! read more

I had Navea's recover a 1970's arm chair for me and it turned out beautiful. The chair is fully upholstered on arms, sides, and back with two cushions. It took 3 weeks as they initially told me it would. The lines of the fabric were parallel with the lines of the chair. The piping was straight. I am very pleased with the result. Everyone of the family members i met are very nice. I will go again!!! read more

Thankfully, I didn't read the yelp reviews for this place until after I had done business with them, or I would have avoided them. I called asking for a ballpark estimate to recover the seat on my scooter. I understood this was a sight unseen estimate, but the ballpark was right, and the guy on the phone sounded pretty straight forward, but with time to answer questions. He said come on down with the seat and look at material and get a solid estimate. I rode the scooter down that afternoon and picked out some marine material like they use for boat seats. The price was just a few dollars more than the blind guess and the material should hold up to the elements. The next morning I removed the seat and drove it to the shop. The material was in, and by mid afternoon the job was done. It looks great, and I went with a color scheme at their suggestion that I wouldn't have thought of, but I really love. I'll be back to get my car seats done here. read more

Navea's upholstery is a rip off, I took in some cushions and another piece for them to recover. I was told they would match the vinyl and did not. i returned to talk them in hopes to resolve the matter, i offered to order the vinyl they said no problem they would redo them. After receiving the correct colored vinyl i returned only to be treated like crap and for them to tell me they would charge me again to redo them.... As another post says on here it took weeks, i was told a certainty date as well and was a couple days later. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS. read more
