He was able to get to the trailhead and start his 3-night,4-day backpacking trip. Since he didn't have cell service, he messaged me via Garmin asking if I could find a mobile mechanic or a tow in the meantime. And thus began my odyssey. If the car couldn't be repaired on the spot, I'd have to get a tow anyway, so I got in touch with AAA. Set up the tow for a Friday. Then they called me to cancel because they said the last 14 miles of the road were unpaved. And they don't do that. Well, only the last 2 miles of the road were unpaved, but I was out of luck. Called a towing company in Visalia; it was a one-man shop and he didn't want to deal with the drive. Called West Coast Tow, and they were awesome. The woman on dispatch was courteous and efficient. Tow truck driver called me from the road to verify the details. And he showed up on time and got the car back to a mechanic's. Towing cost $850, but I was quoted about $200 an hour, so it was no surprise. Anyway, super pleased with how professional West Coast Tow was.

Was referred to Simmons by family and friends. I called and told them what was needed. Within 30 minutes Tom calls me back with a quote that was less than half of the first quote!! I couldn't believe it. Made an appointment and took my truck in. At no point was I left wondering when my truck would be done because I was contacted with updates, and needed changes regularly. Regardless of the changes my final bill was still close to 60% less than the first quote. Be more professional fees up front. Don't wait until you have the tow on the truck. Also stick with your original quotes and communicate the delivery address with your driver. Definitely won't use them again. My advice pay $100 to a more professional towing service.
