He said he was currently in a class- but how are you currently in a class when i called you while in front of the school door and you told me I'd have to come back Tuesday? Then when I said that he said I can come back today at 3. I tried to explain to him his yelp reviews are all complaining about his lack of consideration for others people's time. He hung up on the phone. Too much back and forth about when I would be able to take my class. After it while it became sketchy and redundant. Don't even waste your time or money. Stay away from this business and if you must interact with this business avoid contact with Leah…read moreshe engages in deceptive, bias and bait and switch business practices. She/this business will likely waste you time in the end.... I have been a licensed HHA since 2019 by the Department of Heath and currently attend college for Social Work and am a 4.0 college student and without a doubt dodged a bullet with potentially being trained with inaccurate information and or not all of the pertinent information as it pertains to the classes. If a program fails to provide basic pertinent information such as their will be a quiz during this orientation/ interview what else are they gonna leave out... That's dangerous and creates unprepared and potentially misinformed future EMT's I was invited to attend the Senior Care sponsored EMT program Orientation/ Interview in February of 2025 it was never mentioned that I would have to take a test and upon taking that test I scored a 9/10 and was invited to continue to interview with Senior Care on another day which it was never mentioned that their is a two part interview. I ended up getting covid and was unable to attend that second interview and had sent an email and requested to reschedule that second interview however, nobody replied to me. I signed up for the next sponsored orientation and was invited to attend again Thursday, May 22nd, 2025 and attended. There was no mention yet again that I was required to take the same test that I took last time I came in less than 6 months ago, Obviously I was not aiming to score high on the same test I was aiming to simply pass which I did and got a 7/10 not knowing that that this program does not accept those that score 8 or lower which I found out literally yesterday after I pressed Leah for the truth on the phone yesterday which is bias. Upon speaking to Leah on the phone yesterday I wanted to follow up and see if they would be letting me in this sponsored class and explained to her why I scored low and to advocate for myself to start the conversation off she stated " why did you call us for this you could have sent an email" I felt like saying well i would have if you guys had replied to my last one but kept it to myself. Long story short she stated that we do not accept people into the program who score 8 or below. I argued that passing is passing and that my college GPA and my healthcare experience should trump that exam which is logical and practical argument she indicated that they would not accept and being very cloak and dagger and I asked flat out are you accepting me into this program yes or no and she stated no. My time and money was wasted traveling from Far Rockaway. This program has no respect for my time at all but in the end I do not want to be associated with with a program that engages in the shady and bias business practices but in the end it worked out for the best. My supervisor specifically told him that I had taken the CPR course already, and that I would only be going for the First Aid course. I was told to be there at 9:30am on a Saturday. The good doctor arrives after 10am and seems to make a beeline to my co-worker and I. After a friendly introduction, he strangely asks us under his breath to help him set up. Confused, I followed him, and he asked, "you don't mind helping, right"? I replied, "Sure, I just thought it was kinda weird for you to ask". He then goes into this diatribe about wanting to only teach people that were willing to help others! Mind you, he didn't ask any of the other 20 people there for help. His tone was very condescending and disrespectful. He seemed to make grand assumptions about who my co-worker and I were. I had to ask him if there was going to be some problem with today's course, and he said no. As he and his assistant are setting up (well past the scheduled start time btw), I notice they are setting up for CPR first. I pull him to the side in a very friendly way and asked if we could do First Aid first since that's what I was there for. He admitted to speaking to my supervisor himself when scheduling me, but did not remember my supervisor telling him that I already took CPR. Oddly, he strongly encouraged me to stay for the CPR course even though I had just completed it a week ago. I even showed him my certificate. He said he would consider doing First Aid first, but "had to check" with someone first. As time goes on and they continue to set up, I see him avoiding eye contact with me. I approach him and ask if he is able to do First Aid first, and he says no because "it's not what's best for the group". I asked if anyone was there for CPR only to which he stated no. He never gave an explanation as to how this would be best for the group. He then instructed me to just come back 3-4 hours later which would mean I would have to kill that time (and likely spend money) in the area since I live 45 min. away from the site he was running his course at. In summary, this person appears to have some severe ego complex. My co-worker, who stayed for both trainings, reported to me that he was acting very oddly throughout the training, and had made her do things unnecessary for either CPR or First Aid certification. I would definitely recommend you stay very far away from Dr. Roman Matthews and his company.
