Best body shop experience ever. I came in to get a quote for the large dent my car had after being rear-ended. My car was looked at immediately and, beyond my expectations, they said they had space to fix it on the spot! This was a total blessing after I had spent the larger part of a month trying to get an appointment in at other local body shops. While waiting briefly in the office, the mechanic, the assistant and I had a great conversation and before I knew it -- my car was fixed *perfectly* and I was out of there with time to spare before arriving to work. The people at B&M were so kind and generous with me while they did such fine work on my car. I'm definitely returning (plus their location couldn't be more convenient). Additionally, I appreciated B&M's empathy and unpretentiousness when my car was getting fixed. As a young woman who isn't wildly familiar with car mechanics, I've had so many experiences with other body shops where I am implicitly demeaned or belittled for seeking car repair. I am unsure why you'd take a vehicle here. Everything we had completed for repairs was done at below a mediocre level. Taping off things? Unheard of. Block sanding, who does that. Assembly and putting bolts and pins back in, optional. And spraying paint, you're better off having a two year old spray with a rattle can. I wish I could attach pictures to show how our bumper was put on. They cut tabs off another bumper and used sheet metal screws to screw the tabs to the new one. read more

They tried to beat me by telling me that I needed a wheel alignment. I didn't need a wheel alignment. When I brought my car in for the alignment Matt told me my strut was bent & he couldn't fix the alignment without fixing the strut 1st. I got suspicious so I took it somewhere where they do a free assessment. At the free assessment they told me my strut was not bent and I don't need a wheel alignment. All I needed was back rotors. Had a great experience with B&M. I came to them after trying several other body shops all with no luck. My local mechanic recommended I try these guys. They are extremely busy right now but managed to get my car in 2 days before it was actually scheduled. They called me multiple times to keep me updated on the process and always asked my feedback before continuing. They were also extremely transparent about pricing as my insurance deductible is quite high and would need to pay for this repair out of pocket. I came in to get my front sensors replaced and although they didn't have the right software to reprogram them, they were very professional and refunded me the amount charged after I realized my sensors were not working properly. If you only read one sentence of this review, please take away NOT TO BRING YOUR CAR HERE. We have used B&M automative for over a year and have finally had the last straw with them. We used them out of convenience sake given our location near their shop, putting up with their consistently rude front desk worker, Andrea. She consistently would give snarky remarks, sometimes even blaming us, the customer, for the problems with our car, rather than empathizing. On one occasion, my wife was shocked to learn that her car which was purchased used, had a dented fuel tank according to the mechanics at B&M. My wife was expressing her surprise to Andrea at the front desk, who responded with "what you did to your car is the reason it has so many problems." Needless to say, she was extremely offended and we both went back and forth about calling Andrea to express how inappropriate of a comment that was (it wasn't the first time she's said something extremely rude to either of us). Additionally, each time we have left B&M auto with our vehicles there always seems to be a problem we must return for. Every single time. Recently, we reached our breaking point. My car battery died and my wife had called for a replacement. Simple enough right? The car was dropped, battery replaced, we went on our way. 3 days later my car would not start. And I mean not even the engine would turn over because the battery was so dead. I called AAA to jump the car, who had guessed given the new battery it was likely a starter issue. Much to their surprise it was the BATTERY that was dead and needed replacement, their analysis literally read "defective battery." The AAA mechanic told me that this was most definitely a dud battery and showed the report that said "Replace Battery." As I had just go to my car at 10pm after a 17 hour day, I was needless to say, exhausted and upset. The next morning in order to get my car to B&M I again had to call AAA to jump the car and at this point the report said "Bad Cell- Replace." Now in speaking with again with Andrea at B&M, explaining that multiple AAA reports and mechanics have shown this is a dud battery I was told that I likely "had a parasitic drain," or a "fan on," or a "glovebox light on." Now I had the same battery that died after 5-6 years without issue, and somehow within 3 days I developed some new leak? Seemed incredibly improbable, although possible. When prompted regarding whether they checked the battery when they put it in, she proceeded to blame the person who called to get the battery replaced (my wife) that "they declined to do a charging system check." Now regardless, as an average car consumer, wouldn't the safe assumption be that the battery should work, thus why would I ask for a "charging system check?" But no, I was told that my battery would be replaced IF it was a battery problem, but in order to do that they would have to do a "charging system check" which she again repeatedly blamed the caller for declining. In checking with my wife, she was NEVER ONCE asked about this check. So I said fine, yes please check the charging system to ensure the battery is the issue so you can replace it, but note that I will not be paying any money for this since I just paid you $240 for a battery + installation. Lo and behold, after half a day of "charging system check" it was determined to be a battery issue for which they told me they would replace. However, they then went on to charge me $57 for the check. At this point I was absolutely livid as the issue and problem has and always lies with B&M, yet they refuse to take responsibility when they mess up, which is often. Frustrated, I told her how can this be possible since the issue was with B&M and she went on to tell me it wasn't their fault and then make an analogy to my own occupation as to why B&M shouldn't be held responsible. At this point, they had my car and I needed to get it out so my wife went to go pick up the car, when they proceeded to tell her that it was MY CAR'S CHARGING SYSTEM FAULT, and NOT THE BATTERY, completely contradicting what she told me and the proof I have in text messages for her. I proceeded to message her asking to clarify since she had told me something different at which point she, hilariously, blocked my phone number completely. They proceeded to say "their CC system is down" and that they would only accept check/cash. My wife kindly declined, left her cc no for them to charge later and took my car. At this point, I have filed a complaint with the BBB as I have multiple reports from AAA mechanics, receipts from B&M, and text messages from Andrea. Please let my experience be a warning to you that 1) they lie, 2) they are rude, 3) they will take no responsibility for their mistakes, and 4) you will be overcharged. read more

I don't normally write reviews, but I had such a great experience at B & M that I needed to review them. I chose B & M after some online research and a few in-person quotes from local body shops. B & M quoted me almost exactly the same as the other shops, so I knew I wasn't getting a bad deal. They were not the cheapest or most expensive (insurance was paying for my work), but they were the most genuine. In particular, Tom is a great guy and was honest with me from the start. He explained everything to me, ordered the parts and paint in advance (so I wasn't waiting on supplies), started work on my car the same day I dropped it off, and stuck to his timeline and budget. In fact, the car was done a day sooner than expected, which was a nice surprise. That doesn't sound like much, but if you've been around auto/body shops, you know how hard it is to get service like that. As far as the work that was done, they ended up replacing the driver door and mirror with factory parts, swapping out all the door internals (glass, motors, electronics, etc...) into the new door frame, and blending the paint into the left-front quarter panel and left-rear door (I attached a picture as well). They even washed and waxed the entire car (a service I did not request, which was a nice touch). All-in-all, if you need any body work done, I wouldn't recommend anywhere else other than B & M Auto. read more

Got rear ended by some guy that was on his cell phone. Took it to B&M automotive and man let me tell you they went above and beyond. From dealing with the insurance company to helping with the rental car. Even argued for me when the insurance company was giving me problems. The work they did was fantastic. Looks better then when I bought it. I was in the process of moving and they made sure to safely remove all my belongings from the car and clean it when they were finished. Just had four new tires mounted and balanced on my vehicle as well as an inspection at B & M Automotive's new location in Shaler on Seavey Road. They did a great job and provide excellent customer service. Rather than wait for my vehicle, they drove me home and picked me up when it was done. (*I've worked on cars and know my way around a shop*) Dave at B&M tried to gyp me on an alternator and serp belt for a ford 500. I had it towed there knowing the issue. (Not from Pittsburgh, so I used AAA's first recommendation...) They wanted $700 to fix an alternator, and demanded the serp belt get replaced (understandable, as it was worn). I called 3 other garages, and no one quoted over 50% of that price. I had it towed to another garage and fixed for half the price where 2 mechanics APOLOGIZED for B&M trying to upcharge that much. On top of that, B&M charged me $90(!!) for a diagnostics test- the car was dropped off very clearly stating what was wrong and I left a message for the mechanic. Additionally, they claimed to have charged the battery, and tacked that charge on although it had no juice. The secretary out front was just a mean person and wrote "customer found cheaper place" directly next to the $90 invoice as she handed it to me. Overall, an awful experience even when I talked to them as a man with a mechanical background- they tried justifying why $550 in labor was a legitimate cost and how no one in the city could beat that price. A month later I had to do another car repair! It was $3,000 worth of repairs I only had to pay $50 from a $500 deductible! They did an awesome job! In fact they fixed my driver side bumper which was the whole reason why my deductible is lowered! They also let me go without the check being in! A friend recently got a part replaced in their car. B&M told them there were no aftermarket parts available. They agreed to the genuine part replacement. After a discussion with my friend, I looked online and in store and there were plenty of the exact part that was needed that were aftermarket. When my friend informed them of this in person and on the phone they swore up and down there were no aftermarket parts avaiIiable. So theiswas certainly off putting being lied too, so my friend asked for the proof of the genuine part. The garage refused to give it. I take giving a one star serious though, especially as my friend had a decent experience with this garage in the past. However being lied to and kept in the dark is not excusable. I went here for auto body work through my insurance- they arranged a rental car to pick me up. They made everything easy and were communicative via email while my car was being repaired. Nice friendly service and my car looks great! Update: I went again for a car inspection and they tried to nickel and dime me on buffing out my headlights and replacing windshield wipers, etc. I just had gotten my headlights buffed out 2 months prior so I knew this was bogus. I dropped my vehicle off the night before. Half of their lot was full--the other half was fenced in, so I left my var on Main Street, since I was told that they'll be able to look at my vehicle in the morning. The woman working there called me first thing the next morning. She didn't have my #, but she opened the car and found my # via documents in the glove compartment, which was fine. She called and said they will charge $80 (ouch) to look the car over and then call me in the afternoon with updates. I agreed, since the car was over-heating, and didn't want to take it somewhere else. They called around 5:00, let me know that the 'Check Engine' light was on thanks to the catalytic converter and thermostat, and both could be fixed the next day. I agreed to have the thermostat fixed, since they charged a bit too much for the converter. When I picked it up, the woman informed me that I received a parking ticket for parking on Main St. The time on the ticket was after 11AM. Since she was already in the car around 8, why wouldn't she move it if she knew they ticketed during the day on Main!?! When I asked why they left it there, she told me that I should park behind the Rite-Aid next time (how would I have known that!?). I'll choose a place that actually cares about their customers next time! read more

Just recently moved to PGH. My car overheated on Crane Ave. I thought I blew the transmission. I got my car towed to B & M Automotive, and they looked at my vehicle right away. Thankfully, transmission wasn't the issue - but they were able to give me feedback and fix the issue for an incredibly reasonable price. They were also very friendly. If you need to get anything done to your car, whether it be big or small take it to B & M Auto. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful, and they got my car all fixed up (the whole passenger side needed replaced) very fast AND they detailed it as well! It felt brand new! I've been here just once, but was impressed by the staff. I normally take my car to Lester Yon's but had a problem with my TPMS that they couldn't help with. They recommended B&M. They fixed it quickly and the price was comparable to what I've paid other places for the same problem. The guy there when I picked up my car let me know that there was some damage to my wheel due to, he suspected, potholes. He said it wasn't necessary to fix at this point - it was safe - but just wanted to let me know for the future/keep my eye on it. To me that shows they are good people. read more
