Absolute rip off. I took my car for an inspection and left it Sunday night. I get a call at 9:30 am on Monday morning. The person gave me a cost estimate of $3200. I asked for an estimate for only what needed to be done. I got a new estimate of $1200. The $1200 estimate, for PA inspection mind you, included $408 to replace VALVE COVER GASKETS, plus $580 to replace the upper left control arm. The $580 was based on $442 for the part that I could buy on Ebay...the OEM part... for $40. Buyer beware. read more

I needed an inspection so with a flip of my wrist I threw up my smart phone in hope of some quick answers as I was nomadically on the go in the Robinson area. To my surprise I spotted a collision center that seemed to have raving reviews via this website. I immediately sprung to action and quickly dialed the number listed. After several calls to Coraopolis Collision and Repair due to my flake like nature in not knowing what information one would need to preform an inspection on my car, I was all set. I set the GPS for success and drove straight there. Then I kept driving..because to my surprise..for the life of me I couldn't spot this apparent oasis of customer satisfaction. After several loop arounds and another phone call to my now pen pal like buddy at the Coraopolis Collision and Repair spotted the place and pulled in. I waltz in and met the voice on the other end of the phone who proceeded to direct me on what I would be happening. During this time I somewhat zoned out due to the high number of photos that were plastered all over the walls as if a murder had taken place and these were the leads the detectives here retained. I realized immediately this was a family owned business and they didn't shy away from having their customers know it. The waiting room was nice and cozy with plenty of reading material to help kill time while they worked on my car. The man who worked on my car was extremely informative and even showed me the damage done to my rotors aka my aggressive driving aka my bad driving results. I realized at this point I would be putting in a lot of trust into the mechanic since he seemed to know everything and I was only skilled at refilling its gas. The overall process was efficient and the mechanics worked quicker than a Usain Bolt on a sugar high. The cost was a bit high but I realized it was mostly because I was paying for excellence and my past driving errors to be stitched up. If anything they should put up more of a sign to make sure more people can spot this place since it was quite the treat. Either way, I will definitely be going back when needed. read more

I'm so used to getting ripped off by repair shops that I expect it. I'm also so used to bad or indifferent service that I expect it. I found Coraopolis Collision and Repair via Yelp and thought for sure the two reviews had to be written by paid reviewers. Nope. I am now a fan. It is the first time in my life (I've been a car owner for 25 years) that I've walked out of a repair shop feeling guilty for paying so little. I will describe my experience. Monday: Car is completely dead in my driveway. Call AAA. They ask where they should plan on towing the car. I tell them the local dealership where I always go. I call the dealership to give them a heads up. Dealership informs me that they can't get me in, even for a simple battery swap, until Thursday. No suggested alternatives. I'm used to this. I check Yelp for repair shops near me. Coraopolis Collision and Repair pops up. 5 stars. Hmmm. Can't be. I call. After one ring, a very friendly voice answers the phone. I tell him my situation. He says he'd be happy to take in the car and he could get started right away. AAA arrives. Turns out they could jump it. Either way, I wanted a new battery, and the car was due for a lot of other work (new tires, timing belt change, oil change, state inspection, etc.). So I drove it there. I meet the friendly voice. It is the owner, Tom Kehoe. He not only takes the car and cheerfully tells me he can handle everything I need (including new tires...got four General Grabber HTS' at the same price as TireRack.com!), but offers to give me a ride to wherever I need to go! Seriously? Given that the job would take a few days, I needed to rent a car, so I waited in his nice waiting room (flat screen TV!) for my wife to take me to Enterprise. Tuesday: I check on the car. All is done but the inspection. The dead battery added a wrinkle that extended my car's stay at the shop. I asked if he could get done by early afternoon on Wednesday so I wouldn't get charged an extra day by Enterprise. He said, "I forgot to tell you, I could have rented you a car for $15/day (to just cover his costs). Sorry about that!" Next time, I will be renting from Tom. Wednesday: My car wasn't ready by my Enterprise rental cutoff time, but he personally met me at Enterprise with a nice car from his fleet that he let me use on the house until my car would be ready later that afternoon. He saved me $50 on another day's rental. He called shortly thereafter saying my car was ready. He asked if there was anything else he could do. My radio was locked because of the loss of the battery. I needed to input a code from Honda (which I misplaced). Tom called the Honda dealership on my behalf and got the radio working again. He wrote the code in my owners' manual in case I need it again. No charge for that service. Also, when I picked the car up, it was sparkling clean, inside and out. The price was ridiculously low compared with what I'm used to. Especially considering the first class service. Don't let the spartan-looking building fool you. Coraopolis Collision and Repair is a top notch shop with white glove service. Having raised three kids, you can say that I've been a "frequent flyer" to Tommy's shop. I've gone to him for bodywork since he had his shop in Houston, PA (25 years ago), and every time I've needed his services, the end result was perfect. Even though Coraopolis is a bit of a trip for us, my whole family still uses his shop when needed. That goes for both body work and mechanical work. Tommy is always extremely busy. But he makes you feel like you are his most important customer. He is the frendliest and most honest businessman I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Being here only two years, some can feel my pain when you know you have to find a garage that will do the work, do it honestly, and not try to rake you over the coals for fixes that don't really need to be done. It's rather exhausting. After reading the reviews here on Yelp, I figured that this was the place to try....and I'm glad I did. I had three days to get my car inspected (I'm a procrastinator on it) and Tom was able to get me in. Happily, it passed! I had him check into another issue that I had noticed with the car. He took the time to explain to me what it was, what will need to be done, what would happen if it wouldn't be done, but didn't need to be done that day. He did give me a time frame of when it should be done and said that I should plan to budget for it in the next month or two. Who does that? What garage would tell you to budget instead of making it sound extreme that it had to be done yesterday?! It was great! I cannot give enough appreciation to Tom and his staff and I'm happy to know that I can go to this place feeling confident that my car and I will be getting treated right, and done so honestly. I try to fix my own car, but when you are on the road and you can't figure out the first thing thats going wrong....I would give most Mechanics the "chaa ching" sound in their heads. I found these guys on yelp and they were simply awesome and gave me real VIP service. Brought in Monday at 11pm and car was done and ready at 1pm. They fixed what was needed. New plugs and some basic mainenance. Very low hourly charge. Bill couldn't have been any cheaper. Even at a dealorship what they did would have been easily another $200 just on how they charge. Can't believe it worked out this well for the situation I was in!! read more

I have been to many auto shops where i have accepted their poor treatment as "part of the business". I always assumed that all auto shops are the same-- too busy ( or maybe lazy) to care about the customer. This shop has completely changed my auto repair expectations. The owner is attentive, and works on property. The mechanics are hard working intelligent people who take pride in their work. This is not a sales driven business, this is a customer service driven business. I could not speak highly enough of Tom and his staff! I needed to replace my passenger side rear view mirror. I found a replacement on ebay for cheap and when it arrived I had to have it painted and installed. Using the reviews from yelp I called Coraoplis Collision & Repair Service. Thom gave me a quick reasonable estimate and told me to bring it by anytime. It took me less than 30 min to drive from Smifflin to their location. I dropped the mirror off for them to paint then I would bring my car back when it was ready and they would install it. The next day Thom called and told me the mirror was ready and that I could bring my car in and the guys would install it. While the guys installed my mirror I had a great visit with Thom. Recently went to here to get my car's (Chevy Camaro SS) state inspection and oil change. I knew before hand their was not something right with my car so I came in expecting the worst. I read some pretty great reviews from this place, but I haven't had a great of experience at other places in this area. I told them before hand what might be wrong with my car and they did a great job with everything. My car feels like it's almost running brand new. I went searching for a new mechanic after my regular one became less and less dependable. I was nervous about trying someone new, but I saw the reviews for Coraopolis Collision and decided to take a shot. I called around 10:00 am to make an appointment for inspection/emissions and a tire rotation. The friendly voice on the phone offered to squeeze me in TODAY if I was available, so I jumped at the opportunity. Tom Kehoe welcomed me with a smile, explained the process, answered my questions, and even printed out my new registration card for me (I had forgotten and handed him my old one)! It took until 3:30 (they were PACKED!), and the final bill was less than I expected. I browsed the many family photos on his walls and we had a great conversation about home towns and friends and how peacefully we all sleep when we do right by each other. I thanked him and walked out...grateful that there are still good people in the world. I highly recommend Tom and his crew! P.S. - I got a voicemail from Tom later that evening, explaining that he was going through the day's sales and realized he had accidentally over-charged me 10 cents. UPDATED - PLEASE READ ALL THE WAY TO THE END! Summary: I will never go here again. Description: I used Yelp to help me find a shop in the area that would do an alignment. This one had great ratings, specifically "honest" and "great service". so I figured I'd give it a go. I passed on going to my usual Sears in Robinson, which I've had great experiences with and never had issues, to try someone local and slightly cheaper (later find out it wasn't cheaper). i called and spoke to a gentleman named Tom. I asked him for a verbal quote for my particular car. he was nice enough to give me a estimate over the phone for an alignment and I also mentioned that I needed the front two wheels balanced. I asked if I needed to make an appointment he said "yes, we're booked today but we can get to it Thursday." So, I dropped my car off Wednesday night and put the keys in the key drop slot. It took them 1.5 business days to do the work. I called Friday morning to confirm that he has the keys and the items that I wanted to be done. I called Friday at 7:45am and left a message; never returned my call. I called again at 10:45am and he said they were working on it. when he called me back at 2:30pm to advise me that my car was ready, the price had DOUBLED for the alignment. I asked what happened and he said they had to align all four wheels not just the front end. OK, I calmly asked why he didn't warn me during the original call, or at least call me before they did the work, that the quote only included the front end. he had two opportunities to do so when I called plus he could've done a courtesy call when they realized that the car needed extra work. this is what he said... Actual quote: Tom - "since you're upset about the price I'll have the guys set the car back the way it was and you can have your original quote price" Me - "Sir, I'm not upset about the price, I'm upset about the way it was handle." he then laughed, mumbled some things, then hung up on me. what highly rated auto service shop talks to their customers like this after asking why his/her price doubled without warning? I was very calm and collected. all I asked for was an explanation and what I got was a child's response and a dial tone. I'm a small business owner myself and I would never treat a customer like this even if they were screaming at me, which I was nowhere near that level...yet. In conclusion, if you wish to be misinformed and treated like a step-child then this is your place. However, if you prefer nice people willing to go out of their way to answer questions and satisfy the customer, then stay away from here. For the record, I drive a 2003 Honda civic Si, certainly not a high end car and I typically don't complain about much. Sometimes it just pays to pay more. Hope this helps you avoid a possible headache. UPDATE: I chose not to remove the above review because I think it's important to understand the entire story also to recognize that truly good businesses can resolve unpleasant issues. after discussions with the business owner we settled everything peacefully. he was apologetic, kind, and he explained the series of events that lead up to the phone call and why it went sour. As a gesture of goodwill he did give me a discount on the service. As I am still not pleased about the treatment, he definitely redeemed the integrity of the business, and we agreed that it was a misunderstanding/miscommunication. although, I've definitely had better experiences, i believe this is a fair business managed by a morally upright guy. read more

Let's face it finding a company to repair or inspect your car is not a pretty process. It boils down to two things, competence and honesty. Finding both of those qualities in the same place is very hard to do. When I needed to get my car inspected I used yelp to search for garages. After reading the reviews for Coraopolis collision and repair service I decided to give them a try. When I got there I met Tom, the owner. This guy is competent and honest. My car passed inspection, he pointed out a few things that might need to be looked at in about a year but didn't need immediate attention. I know if I went somewhere else my bill would have been higher and I probably would've been charged for things that I didn't need. I've recommended Tom to my coworkers and even my mother. Tom is the greatest! I had taken my car to 3 different repair shops over the last year with the same coolant issue. I was having to refill the reservoir and the check engine light was coming on. I was told their was nothing wrong with it, but if the check engine light comes on, come in again and we will check...for $89.99. So, I took it to Tom and with same day service, the faulty seal was replaced and the charge was exceptionally low. Two days later the check engine light came on, I called and Tom said bring it over at my convenience...Saturday morning I walked in and his son took my car straight back and within 20 minutes he came back and all was well. There was a little air in hose that was working its way out and passed by a sensor. My daughters car was acting up and we were told she needed a new alternator, which was several hundred dollars. We took it to Tom and it was just a belt...$81 later and her car runs great! This has all happened within the week of January 6-11, 2013. My inspection is due this month and Coraopolis Collision and Repair Service will be the place I take my car. Along with getting tires for my daughters car. Thank you Tom! read more

Well you can't give a negative rating in the stars so I guess I will do my best here. I wasn't even going to write this review until I found out the owner was telling customers a whole other story about what happened. Tommy Kehoe had my vehicle for 32 days. I called 6 times, twice I was returning his calls. The last time I called him was the last day of the week it was supposed to be done. He hurried me off the phone and would call me back. He never did, when I called back he told me to come get my fucking shit and get the fuck out of his life. He wouldn't let me then, had to wait until Tuesday until someone could get my truck "back together". Tuesday I went down at 1:30pm and my truck was still in the air and Mr. Kehoe acts like our conversation Saturday never happened. I reminded him what he told me "come get your shit and get the fuck out of his life". He then threatened me and told me I was just a little punk and told me to get out for cussing in his shop. After an hour the mechanic finally had my truck. 2 weeks later I find out he is bringing it up to other customers to try and save face by slandering me. I loved this place. I had just gotten a terrible diagnosis on the condition of my car from the Ford Dealership on University Boulevard. I called Tom at Coraropolis Collision and Repair Service. He told me not to worry and they would let me know if there was anything wrong with my car. I took my car down that day, and he was able to have his mechanics inspect it. They found nothing wrong with my car. It was also a relatively cheap price for the inspection. I think this is the best place I've been in my years living in the Moon/Coraopolis area. read more

When my battery light started intermittently coming on and going off this week, I figured that it was not one of those things I should mess around and ignore--especially before a big holiday weekend where I knew I'd be driving every day. I came to this garage on Yelp recommendations alone--well, that and proximity to my place--and I was not disappointed. I requested a quote through Yelp first, and the owner, Tom, answered within an hour and told me to bring the car in asap so they could take a look at it. I managed to get in about an hour before close, and after we talked through my issue, we agreed that I should bring it back in early the next day (today) to run some quick diagnostics and see what the root cause was. As planned, I came in today, they ran tests, and quickly figured out that there was corrosion in the connection to my alternator. They showed it to me on the shop floor so that I could see it for myself how fried it was, and Tom laid out my options. Unfortunately, an alternator is one of those parts that when it decides to quit, you're dead in the water whether you're cruising down the highway, tootling down a street, or wherever. I decided it wasn't worth that chance. I was sent off with a free rental car so that I could wait in the comfort of my own home, and got a call that my car was ready about an hour later. Admittedly, I didn't shop around for a price, but from what I've gathered since, I got a fair price for an OEM part and the labor. For me, car repairs are daunting and personal because I know so little about it that I feel vulnerable. This is the kind of garage that doesn't make you feel talked down to, pressured, or disadvantaged for that. Tom and I even had a nice chat last night when he told me about his family and their involvement in the community. As an update to my original review, I needed some body work done on my car (very minor scratch and dent) and I went around for quotes. I was quoted 500+ dollars everywhere but here. I don't know why I even bothered getting quotes. I should have gone straight to Coraopolis Collision! They fixed it quickly and for almost half the price of their competitors. This business is great. I just picked up my Volkswagen and am still blown away by the easy going experience I had. Many auto shops don't treat their customers as such but if I've learned anything from my experience with these guys, it's that they actually care. Upon walking in I was greeted with smiles and Tom took care of all of the hassle of contacting/working with my insurer. He put me in a rental and addressed all of the problems wrong with my car. It was a one stop shop. I had lots of work done at a reasonable price and Tom touched base with me over the time of the repairs informing me of the car's status, any problems that needed addressed, and a rough estimate of when my car would be ready. Customer service was phenomenal and the quality of the work done, even better! After today's transaction, they've earned my trust. Recently rented a car from Tom Kehoe. Unfortunately went over a curb causing damage so slight that I couldn't even see it until I looked real close. First he said it would cost $1100.00 to fix. I took it to another body shop who gave me an estimate for $400 to fix it like new. Unfortunately, the contract I signed would not permit me to have the work done elsewhere. (Tom Kehoe's business includes car rental, auto body repair, and car mechanic repair.) In the end, Mr. Kehoe said it would cost in excess of $1900 because there was more damage than he originally believed. He said he would wait to be paid by my VISA auto insurance. Then when he didn't get his money within two business days, he insisted that I pay him direct. When I didn't do this after 48 hours, he turned it over to his lawyer to collect from me. I did pay him and then waited to be reimbursed by VISA. Suffice to say, I won't be returning to Coraopolis Collision and Repair the next time I need a rental car. It was not pleasant. That said, others here have had a lot of positive comments so Mr. Kehoe evidently has done good by some folks......just reporting my own experience. read more
