Scott is the man you want to do your inspection. He was on time and prepared for the job. He had tools, ladders infrared readers, and a camera. He was organized explained everything he was doing. He was honest about his findings and provided advice on future maintenance that will come up. He answered all of my questions. Addressed my concerns and eased my fears. I followed him around everywhere asking a million questions, he answered them all without being annoyed. It was clear to me that Scott was not only there to inspect a property, but also had a genuine and sincere interest in making sure I fully understood what was involved in buying a home and being completely comfortable knowing that he made sure my family will be safe and worry free for years to come. He climbed on the roof like a ninja monkey, checked every gutter, window, and shingle. He went up in attic. He checked every plug, ran every appliance, filled tubs, ran sinks. Took pictures of everything and followed up the next day with a 24 page report He didn't rush or ignore a single question or concern. My wife and I were very pleased with our home inspector - Scott. He really took the time to go through everything...he even explained how certain things worked within the house that we were not familiar with. For ex: the furnace had UV lights inside in order to eliminate bacteria. He showed us where, how to replace the bulbs, etc. The home was in really good shape but Scott still took his time with us and reviewed in detail. I had called B-Aware to inspect a condo that I was interested in purchasing, He did the inspection, pointed out a few areas of concern, but were definitely areas that the owner could fix. At the same time, my house was for sale, and had a buyer for it. They did their inspection, and weren't happy with the results with the basement. I then called Scott to come by and look at my basement, (it there was a problem, I wanted to know about it, fix it if I could and get the house sold). He did find some major problems......mold. He did a mold test throughout my house, to find out how extensive the problem was. The report came back with pretty bad news, but then recommended a company that would come in and take care of the problem. And the problem got fixed, and I did sell the house. Not only was Scott very careful and completed the inspections quickly and thoroughly, but he knew other resources that also shared the same sense of professionalism, and conscientiousness. Scott is very professional and was extremely thorough.He also uses an infrared camera to see if there is moisture behind the walls. He raised a concern about a possible siding issue. I would recommend Scott to anyone he is very knowledgable and patient. He took his time and very thoughtfully and meticulously went through two homes for me. The first was a condo that cosmetically looked good needed some updating, but for the price it was interesting. My realtor Richard Velasquez (old friend) (shameless plug) Called Scott in to inspect the property for me, Richie and I are good friends so that should explain the trust he has in Scott, so Scott inspected the property taking his time to point out and explain the flaws he sees and the possible causes. When he was in the basement probing the wooden planked walls he came across a mild moisture increase on his hand held monitor. With this he suggested a mold air quality inspection which produced multiple damaging molds to humans and animals, you would have never even thought it, the basement seemed ok, but because of how thorough Scott is he saved me from a very dangerous if not expensive purchase. I hired Scott for my home inspection a few months ago. DO NOT Hire him for an inspection. He's not mean or a jerk. Just a HORRIBLE home inspector. He states on his website to be a licensed builder and a firefighter. When talking with Scott, it appears that he does neither of those things any longer, because they were "too much like work". This attitude was reflected throughout the entire process of my home inspection. Home inspections typically run about 2-3 hours, which Scott had also stated prior to my inspection. Yet at the 45min mark he stated he was completely done! And he was not busting his but during that 45mins either. Lots of ringing and checking his cell phone. He made mention a couple times how he may have to go and pick up his kid. Which I believe is the reason for my extremely shortened and incomplete inspection. There was not some life threatening issue he failed to find, just letting people know not to hire this guy. He is absolutely not worth spending any money on. At the end of the 45 mins, I just ended up paying the guy rather than causing a scene in front of family, the realtors, and the sellers. Also, he most likely would have tried to "make things right" so I could pay him the full amount rather than try and negotiate a reduced amount, but I had no desire for him to "inspect" anything else. I would have had to hold his hand and point out everything single thing he was not doing that most home inspectors do as just part of the job. I have had 3 homes inspected, once before using Scott and once after using Scott. The company I used on the third house, had 2 guys out and took 3 hours.
