Steve is GREAT!! We live in a 70-year old Cape Cod & my wife has been concerned about some trailing cracks in our upstairs ceilings, as well as a few by outdoor walls and some "mottling" in the downstairs LR ceiling. Called AAPEX and spoke to Steve, who told me right up front that he really only does whole-house inspections at this point, but gave me about 10-15 minutes explaining that this is not uncommon in homes the age of ours, as well as expert advice on what to do, and how to potentially repair the cracks PROPERLY with silicone to ensure it will be much longer before these happen again. How many people these days GIVE you their time and advice for FREE even after telling you they do not work on your issue? If we ever move again, I'm calling Steve. GREAT GUY!! read more

AAPEX is awesome. This is my 5th house and they're the best home inspection service I've worked with. Scheduling the appointment was quick & easy online and our inspector Chris Charow followed up with emails confirming appointment and then with a same-day reminder. I arrived at the house early and Chris was waiting for me. The entire inspection process was very informative. Chris is a true pro and I'm completely impressed with the completeness and quality of his finished reports. We have a at least one negotiated fix with the Seller as a result of his findings. We also have a nice checklist of prioritized maintenance to-do's to keep us busy for awhile. I'll definitely recommend AAPEX and Chris to others. Any new house hunt for us will include AAPEX again. I just had the best home inspection experience with AAPEX. We put in an offer without being able to make it to see it in person before so finding a good inspector was even more important to me since he would be seeing the place first. I've worked with several other home inspectors in the past and Steve blew them out of the water. He was personable, extremely helpful, and honest. I had a FANTASTIC experience with Aapex Home Inspections! Since I am relatively new to the home buying game, I wanted to make sure I went with a company that knew what they were doing, without overcharging. I didn't know that in the state of Michigan, you don't have to be licensed to do home inspections; so I truly lucked out when I found Aapex. The owner, Steve, agreed to meet me for a 7:00 AM appointment on a Saturday - that in itself is impressive; but what was even more impressive was Steve himself! He is smart, thorough, and very patient, and answered every one of my (dozens) of questions during the inspection. He suggested I walk through the home with him as he took pictures, and explained what to look for, and what wasn't important. I am relocating to the area and am a first time home buyer. Steve returned my call within a few hours and was able to schedule me for later that week. I was able to schedule an inspection for a home on a Saturday. Bob was there before I was and walked me through every part of his inspection. He took plenty of photos and explained everything, good and bad. He also knows his plants, as he gave me tips on how to maintain the landscaping too! Unfortunately, he found serious water damage and foundation issues in the home (after he crawled all the way into the muddy crawl space), so I ended up not going through with the purchase. However, I was able to make another offer on another home the same day and he graciously gave up some time on his day off to inspect the second house so I didn't have to make a second trip back to Detroit, just for the inspection! He was personable and extremely knowledgeable. Cost was also very fair, compared to other inspectors in the area. I am so lucky I didn't buy a home that needed a ton of work. These guys are seriously amazing. Steve spent extra time with me during our consultation phone call to get a better idea of my situation. He asked me several questions about me and the property that I was seeking so he could determine exactly what I was looking for in my unique scenario. Bob was my inspector for my first house and he was very thorough in his explanations for present and future issues that I could have with the place.
