We lived in Millington so we mostly went to our small, local library, but once in a while we would come here just for the experience. It is beautiful and well thought out. It's like an art exhibit or museum, and a library, the best of both worlds. The building is light and airy with lots of windows. As you come in, the walkway is engraved with beautiful patterns and quotes. Inside is colorful, with beautiful modern and historic displays. It is very busy, so prepare for a wait when checking out or needing services, but it's worth it. The only negatives I will say is that we had to get visitor cards and were limited on what and how much we could check out, because we didn't live in the Memphis city limits. (We're used to libraries being reciprocal within the same county in other states). Maybe this has changed since we lived there. We also had a couple of staff members who were rude, but everyone may have an off day. Visit and see this beautiful library for yourself!

The statues throughout the library were magnets for the children...The bathrooms were old, but fairly clean for a public restroom. I enjoyed having access to a study room for 2 hrs. Also, a library card is not required to reserve a study room...I felt like I was visiting someone in jail because there's no privacy between the study rooms. Rooms 1 and 2 were separated by a glass window. I didn't like studying while trying to mentally block out the person in room 2. Having a tinted window or curtain to block the rooms would have been great. I was thankful that the security officer removed the clock out of my study room per my request. The ticking sound of the second hand on the clock was a distraction to me...I was able to accomplish my study goals!

She offered her assistance during the week and mentioned other upcoming events hosted by the library. For class you basically just need to bring your own crochet needles/tools and the yard and printed instructions were supplied. I ordered my crochet tools from amazon for reference. I definitely recommend any of the public libraries. They have various programs from cooking, sewing, crochet and even tech class. But this was just the beginning of my crocheting. I plan to attend more events.

They have a huge selection and I love coming here after work or to find something for a birthday gift. They have a huge and organized selection. It is volunteer based and the people who work here are so sweet. If you can't find a book you want they can put it down on a list for you and hold it. When it is donated they'll give you a call. It is also such a steal when everything is so expensive to either get your monthly free book or pay no more than $2 for sometimes completely new books. It's the best!
