I walked into a free pot painting class and got a free flower plant!

What an awesomely unexpected surprise it was walking into the Germantown library! I had signed up for one of the free classes they offer (Organizing your Kitchen, if you must know) but didn't realize which room it was in. So I walked in through the front gates and the first thing I saw was a painting class going on. It looked like such a massive amount of fun that I checked with a supervising librarians and she said it was open for adults too. Hearing that, I promptly sat down on a empty seat at the table, with a bunch of young kids, and made my own painted pot which after the paint dried out, was then filled with potting soil and planted with Marigold seeds. The free community class too was very useful although it's a pity there were so many empty seats. I really loved the services offered by the library and how friendly and helpful the librarians were, so definitely plan to come back and attend more event! Yelp Review: 15/2017

We lived in Millington so we mostly went to our small, local library, but once in a while we would come here just for the experience. It is beautiful and well thought out. It's like an art exhibit or museum, and a library, the best of both worlds. The building is light and airy with lots of windows. As you come in, the walkway is engraved with beautiful patterns and quotes. Inside is colorful, with beautiful modern and historic displays. It is very busy, so prepare for a wait when checking out or needing services, but it's worth it. The only negatives I will say is that we had to get visitor cards and were limited on what and how much we could check out, because we didn't live in the Memphis city limits. (We're used to libraries being reciprocal within the same county in other states). Maybe this has changed since we lived there. We also had a couple of staff members who were rude, but everyone may have an off day. Visit and see this beautiful library for yourself!

This library is far from being comfortable but it's at least functional. Its kind of loud and more family orientated.Maybe because its just Saturday. They have an adult fiction, childrens, young adult, adult non fiction section. The printers are located up front near the check out. Also up front is the computer sign up which is more towards the middle. The information desk is next to the computers and everything else is around in the front or the behind..Basically you wont get lost anywhere in this place. The people seem pretty nice I guess. My cousin called me twice and this old lady gave me a look like I was disturbing the peace. She chooses to ignore the others talking and the rowdy kids earlier but I guess that didn't matter. This isn't really the greatest place to study or think but I'm sure they do have some info in here. Its a library afterall.
