I have worked in hospitals for 45 years and I must say that I have never been treated as well as I was at PPGH before, during, and after my procedure. Every employee I had contact with had such a great attitude! It seemed like everyone went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and well cared for. I think Mineral Wells and Palo Pinto County have a real jewel in their local hospital and should be very proud. I'm more than happy to have all my medical care done here instead of driving anywhere else.

A camping trip to Dino camping park turn scary when my daughter fell and needed to be seen. This…read morewas the closest to the campground. As we arrived there was one lady at the front doing the check in, she greeted us and started getting information. We were called to go in to be seen by doctor. My daughter was definitely scared, crying and screaming. Nurses and doctor were very calm and started taking her feel safe. Jennifer and Kelsee explained to her what their duties will be and helping her feel at ease. They were very friendly and overall stayed calm during a scary moment for patient and parents. Kaelee came by to take X-rays and hold her hand as she spoke softly to my daughter and also explained the steps she will be taking. My daughter was cold and she brought her a very warm blanket, providing her comfort. Once doctor Sydneer arrived, he as well explained what details, pain, discomfort she might feel along the process. Of course is never easy but they made it as comfortable as any parent will appreciate. Hope to never have another emergency but definitely had a 5 star service. Hoping bill is also as nice as their service.

I've never been so afraid in my entire life by the look of terror in her eyes as she gripped me and gasped repeatedly for air. The first time I thought maybe she was just having a panic attack, which she's never had before, but she had the symptoms. I stayed calm and instructed her to practice deep breathing, and after 10-15 minutes we got through it and she was able to go to sleep. But then about an hour later she woke up again doing the same thing. I immediately threw clothes on us both and took the 4 minute drive to the ER at Kell West Regional Hospital. We checked in about 2:20 AM and I let them know what was going on. I had her lie down on a bench and, fortunately, she was able to go back to sleep while we waited. Over 2 1/2 hours later, at 5 AM, she still had not been called back to a room, triaged, or checked on at all. I knew once we did eventually get to a room it would be at least an hour or longer before we'd be seen, and at this point she had woken up and seemed a lot better, so I decided to just go home so we could get some good rest and make an appt with her doctor a few hours later. Had we gotten home and she had another episode, I would have just called 911. At least that way paramedics would make sure she was taken care of in a timely manner. I'm not normally one to publicly complain like this, but I feel it is important to let others know so they don't make the same mistake. We've been to Kell West a few times before and were always treated pretty unkindly, if not downright rudely, and we've never felt we got adequate care. I only went back because it was a short drive and I thought surely we would be assisted in a timely manner based on her condition. This was the final straw for me. I'm sending in a complaint to Texas Health & Human Services, and I refuse to ever step foot in there again. Honestly, I don't even know if their neglect is illegal or not, but it very well should be. You take a child to the ER telling them she literally cannot breathe and they don't even send someone to take a couple minutes to check on her?! Absolutely absurd and inhumane. Thank God she is OK! I prayed over and over the whole time. Her doctor prescribed her a steroid to help the swelling go down and she is finally breathing somewhat normally now. Shame on you, Kell West!!!

They are only supposed to charge $50 for a visit with insurance. They ended up trying to charge me around $130 for a single office visit. Had to call and argue with them to fix it. We made it clear that we were at Scout camp and that the camper needed a thorough evaluation and definitive treatment so she could safely return to camp. Instead, her ear was flushed and she was diagnosed with an outer ear infection and prescribed ear drops. Her symptoms continued to worsen. After returning to camp, several experienced wilderness medics questioned the diagnosis, and later that week we had to seek care at another urgent care. There, she was diagnosed with a middle ear infection (behind the eardrum), not an outer ear infection, and started on appropriate treatment. The incorrect diagnosis resulted in several unnecessary days of pain, missed camp activities, an additional urgent care visit, and approximately $100 in unnecessary copays and medications. We are grateful that Palo Pinto General Hospital Urgent Care correctly identified the problem and got her on the right treatment.
