Our bike was great, no issues, got us to and from Siena in 95 (40) degree heat no problem. Another issue, they have waaaay more bike rentals than GPS, so you might have to jerry-rig your phone to the bike like we did. Definitely would be a five star if the gear wasn't so gross. My husbands helmet stunk terribly and even the removable/washable pads were unclean. We lysoled it and wiped it out, it turned the towel black/brown, so nasty. The gloves were also disgusting. The jackets don't even have a spine protector.

The Vespa scooters are in great condition and come in different ccs. My husband and I enjoyed a 125 which had plenty of power. Make sure to have your passport, drivers license and a credit card for deposit. Call if you have questions-- they are very helpful. I would recommend mapping out your route prior to use, as the streets, restrictions and pedestrian areas can be daunting. However the GPS they provide come with programmed routes in case you'd like to take their suggestions on sites to see.

My fiancé and I have never operated a Vespa before and we decided to walk into Florence Station rental at 5pm to book a Vespa for a few hours. Lucky for us, there was one Vespa available and we were able to use it despite the shop closing at 5:30pm! Yuri (I believe this is the owner's name) was very accommodating and generally just great to work with. His English is excellent since he has a wife and child living in Hawaii, he's also visited California (my home state) multiple times. Since it was our first time on a Vespa, he made sure to get us comfortable with using the vehicle by teaching my fiancé and riding with him around the block! His instructions were fantastic. Honestly, the streets of Florence are kind of scary to drive around in, especially during rush hour traffic. Yuri gave us a route and a map that we can follow and basic traffic instructions. Luckily, my fiancé is tall and was able to operate the Vespa smoothly. A tip from me is to book a Vespa early in the day (or online). This shop is popular and vehicles may not be available. The countryside is better to be traveled early in the day when there is still light out. The shop does close at 5:30pm so any rentals late in the day will be charged "sunset pricing" but keys can still be return after the shop closes via a special "key hole" in the gate.

I went to Manni's in Rimini and they explained they required an international licence (BMW Motorrad didn't) I went away and got the required licence and the IDA sent me the PDF (shipping takes 3 weeks). I took it to Manni's who told me the PDF was not sufficient. I had spent $80AUD for nothing. Manni's would not rent me a 300cc or scooter. No one explained that at the start. Luckily I got the licence refunded but Manni's were no help, rude and gave the response "Not my problem" I recommend you go and see BMW Motorrad before talking to these fools. Not accepting a valid international drivers licence. Not good enough" 0 stars. Terrible business!

An absolute disaster…read more The scooter they had was at least 10 years old with a broken windscreen, stapled and duct taped seats. Told it had 1/4 tank but it was empty (Finding gas in Florence is not easy). Mirrors wouldn't stay adjusted and just kept flopping. The guy we dealt with spoke NO English. Pointed to a map that showed the city of Florence and told us no. Pointed outside of Florence and said best to go there. Helmet liners had never been washed and stunk. The GoPro mount on my helmet had been sheared off by force somehow. The visor was super dirty, scratchy and kept falling down after putting it up. So no...I won't be going back.
