The rent here is extremely high, and for what you're paying, you expect to live in a safe, secure community. That is absolutely not the case. You're paying premium prices thinking you're getting safety and peace of mind but in reality, you're not safe here at all. At first glance, the apartments look nice, but that's where the positives end. Management is completely ineffective and unresponsive. Serious issues are either ignored or handled far too late to matter. Security here is a complete failure. My car was broken into in a gated garage that's supposed to be secure. Packages are constantly stolen from the "secured" mailroom, which clearly isn't secure at all. I even paid extra for a storage unit and that was broken into as well. You're essentially paying more money just to have your belongings put at risk. Maintenance is another major issue. Requests take far too long to be addressed, leaving residents stuck dealing with unresolved problems. On top of that, there are ongoing pest issues gnats coming through the vents, which is both frustrating and unsanitary. Overall, this place is overpriced, poorly managed, and completely lacking in basic security. Don't be fooled by appearances you're paying for a "luxury" experience, but what you actually get is stress, frustration, and zero sense of safety.

This particular apartment is rather central to a lot of local establishments, so it's quite convenient. The manager Luke is also nicer and more attentive than he has any right to be, and has been absolutely instrumental in getting me set up, even responding to calls for help in the wee hours of the night. In conversations with neighbors, they seem to hold the same sentiment as the above. I take it as a good sign.

This is visible from the CVS parking lot. In another corner of the garage was someone I believed to be dead, or dying from an overdose, until they noticed me and began moving. Sights like these always break my heart. Although this is very sad, it is also very unsafe. There is no security at this location, so definitely park AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I especially like the placement of the Cypress trees between the "windows" of the garage. They add evergreen and are as tall as the building. Living in Castro Valley for a couple years now and it amazes me that I still find hidden gems that I have yet to discover. I must admit, Castro Valley is NOT a big community however it does have some hidden spots and this is one of them. Castro Valley Park and Ride used to be peoples favorite place to park during morning commute. Rumor has it that a couple of years ago the 580 Grove Way exit freeway ramp was really close to this park and ride and easy access to commuters to park and ride the bus. However, that is not the case now. The freeway was totally restructured and revamped so the 580 Grove Way exit is not as close to the park and ride and the parking lot doesn't get much attention anymore. Many people do still commute to work and there are commuter buses that still pick up and drop off at the park and ride but the parking lot does fill up to the point that it gets crowded. This parking lot is great for workers who commute to work and want to carpool. Very safe area! Police and ambulance usually come and take their break here. Too bad this park and ride is not as close to the Castro Valley Bart station as I would like for it to be because then commuters could just park for free and walk to the Bart but the walk is a 20 min distance (not sure if everyone is up to that early in the morning). Definitely recommend to park here if you are a commuter and save money rather than parking at Bart (it adds up and becomes very expensive).
