The room is moving, the energy is right, and it feels like a real party instead of a playlist on shuffle. Friday nights with the live drums? Different level. That's when Bembe really shows its roots. The drums add this raw, authentic feel that turns the whole night into an experience instead of just a bar stop. Now let's talk drinks -- because this one deserves its own moment: The tequila with the lime dipped in coffee grounds is surprisingly delicious. I wasn't expecting it to work... but it absolutely does. Must-drink. Non-negotiable. This is a place to dance, drink, sweat a little, and leave feeling like you actually went somewhere. Bathroom Review (2 out of 4) Safety - Bouncer presence helps a lot. You feel secure moving back there. Accessibility - Easy enough to get to, no maze or weird hallway journey. Space - Bathrooms are small and tucked way in the back. Gets cramped fast. Privacy - Sinks are outside the bathrooms, which kills the privacy a bit when it's packed.

Music is always good, sometimes a couple decades back as they dig in the crates and nostalgic dancehall plays... the service is always attentive and the female bartenders are always friendly... my fave drinks are the passionfruit margarita or the rum punch either one will do you just right. The real vibe starts a little late for the weeknight events... so be prepared to lose some sleep before work... always a vibe.. always safe and a staple in the Williamsburg communityfor Caribbean.

For my 600th review, I will be writing about my visit to The Rub on my birthday weekend…read more(4/30/2016). The Rub is a monthly hip-hop dance party, that plays old school hip-hop, the kind of music I listened to in high school. It takes place on the last Saturday of every month at the Bell House. It sounded like a great time, so I headed over to the Bell House around 10pm. There was no line around 10pm, so I got in quickly after paying the cheap $10 cover. There's a (non-mandatory) coat check at the door, and the space is split into a smaller bar/lounging area and a large (dark) dance floor with a stage and another bar. I'm glad I heeded the warning to come before 11pm, because the space filled up quick. Drinks were fairly priced. Beer ranged from $5-$8 and mixed drinks were $8. I had a good amount to drink. It's great that there's no dress code, because you wanna be comfortable when you hit the dark dance floor. They played all the types of music I had expected, including old Jay-Z, Lauryn Hill, and a lot of Prince (R.I.P.) I did notice that the smaller bar area had different music than the dance floor. The music at the bar was older, late 90s early 2000s hip-hop, and the main dance floor had later 2000s. I'm not sure if that's a usual thing with this event, but it wasn't bad. I had a great time

I LOVE this event…read more This past Halloweekend Saturday, Nick C. thought of the genius idea to come to the Rub, an event held every last Saturday at the Bell House. It was about a 45 minute wait in line but well worth it. They charged a $15 cover that day, I hate covers but that's pretty damn cheap considering how huge the venue is and great the event was. The Bell House is a warehouse divided into a small bar area and a huge stage area. The crowd is great and the place has a very Generation Y feel to it. The music that night and the last/first time I was here, featured classics of the 90s/early 2000s (basically my childhood). I would assume that's the theme and motif of the Rub, to replicate a night out in the city during that epoch. So for that, I bestow it a very emphatic 5 stars.

The programming is thoughtful and deliberate: great DJs who actually play what the crowd wants, live acts, and events that draw people of all ages without feeling chaotic. Even on busy nights, the staff keeps things running smoothly, and the crowd is respectful and upbeat. It's a place where you can enjoy good music, good company, a feeling of community thinking that we're all in this together, and a sense of authenticity that's getting harder to find in the city. In conclusion, 5 stars for the crowd and the club that keeps it happy

I have a love/hate relationship with this place…read more I have had horrendous experiences here where an entire birthday group of 15 people left the line outside to go elsewhere because bouncers were on a weird power trip beefing with random people behind us in line. I have also had fun nights here with great music, dancing, and vibes. I'm officially old now and my thoughts on the place are tempered --that I'm glad it exists and it's an important space for the whole community. This has been a fairly reliable and solid place to dance which a good mix of genres, crowds, and vibes for years now. Used to frequent as I lived right over in Clinton Hill while in college. Oftentimes it has been the only place close by to dance in that kind of setting. The drinks are fine and bartenders typically chill. They did look at us like we were crazy one night when we asked for two long island iced teas haha... ...but also like actually why not? Maybe I want that chaos in my life. They said no, probably for the best. Bouncers outside have been hit or miss over the years but honestly you can say that about any place, they keep BS out so i can't blame them. I don't think the place should really ever have a cover including when it was at its busiest, but I think it may be necessary for overhead. The bathroom line can get long and people take their time in there doing what they'll do.. Can be a wildcard for what it will be like inside, but if you come with a fun group, problem solved. Overall the staff is "no BS" to put it simply, so as long and you're chill and respectful, you *shouldn't* have any problems.

I'll just stick to the points: - Great atmosphere and outdoor ambiance - DJ's spin terrific music - The dance floor is packed with respectable, decent people all looking to dance and just have a good time - No smoking and no cell phones are allowed on the dance floor - The bar serves up Sangria, wine and beer - They sell tacos and pizza - The tree lights are pretty - The sky is your roof - Industrial lofts are your walls It's a daytime, outdoor, huge dance party that happens every single Sunday. It's now in the empty lot between buildings next to Costco in Brooklyn. It was a strange crowd, to say the least. At the beginning, there were tons of parents with kids (even a woman dancing with a baby bjorn). There were both large dogs and puppies. And also someone who decided to hula hoop on the dance floor (poorly). The music was okay, but not great. More chill than anything, thought towards the end, it was a lot livelier. The party also ended at 8pm on Sunday, which is a strange hour all around. The men's bathroom line situation sucked. There were three bathrooms inside the warehouse, all with really long lines. First time I've seen the men's lines take longer than the women's.

That is a great price, as drinks are usually much pricier at nightclubs! The drinks were good and we could actually taste the alcohol. The service from the bartender was excellent. The ambiance had its ups and downs; some of the music the DJ played was 'blah,' while other songs were great. It was a different DJ than the one from Valentine's Day weekend, and I didn't love how he was mixing the tracks. We heard cumbia, bachata, salsa and some merengue.
