I witnessed traumatizing three hour long client intakes where clients were repeatedly asked the same questions about their childhood abuse and drug use by the "therapist," who was a slob in sweatpants and flipflops who couldn't even be bothered to put his energy drink out of view (which looked exactly like a beer can!), and their problems were discussed in public areas and talked over as if they didn't exist. Oh, but the client DID get a "trigger warning" and was told it was a "safe space" before being disrespected and dismissed, so I guess it's okay, right? I witnessed my degenerate coworkers repeatedly trash the clients they work with, then feign compassion whenever the boss looked in. My boss repeatedly ordered me to do unnecessary and unethical things, even when I warned her against doing so. She worked in the jail system for years and it showed in her automaton-like, unblinking submission to numerous counterproductive, pointless procedures and protocols. My infantile coworkers literally called her "mommy" to her face. If regular folks ever saw how these fancy, bloated mental health services were run, you'd think it was an episode of Park & Rec...except that they're supposed to be serving people with severe mental illness, but unlike in TV land, stupidity and immaturity have real-life consequences for suffering people, and that is why I am so disgusted by it. This company has the most absurdly over the top, tech security measures, yet they had a major data breach that nearly shut down the company. They have millions of dollars at their disposal, which they spend to have employees do no work, but merely watch the same DEI training videos over and over. One of the many laborious, worthless trainings I was forced to attend, was for a subject I teach: group therapy. In it, the trainer emphasized control, punishment, and authoritarian mind games directed at clients. She also counseled us to do things that are stupid, unsafe and illegal, like coming up to agitated clients from behind and touching them! You can't make this stuff up. Every level of KMHS from the top down are totally disconnected from reality and have absolutely no interest in improving the quality of their services. Numerous people were hired and quit just in my several weeks. The de facto management philosophy can be summed in three words: chaos, crisis, contradiction...and usually some combination of all three. The highest levels of executive management were personally informed by me of the lack of compassion and professionalism in client interactions, but as usual with these companies, they could care less about anything other than optics. The OCRP forensics program in particular is a sad joke. It wastes thousands of dollars without serving anyone. Based on what I'm seeing state wide, OCRP serves as window dressing so the state can pretend it's actually keeping people out of Western State Hospital. Because of the incompetence among those who devised and administer the program, it does very little good for anyone, particularly when you see how many resources are devoted to it. I've worked at many of these sh*tshows and they are virtually identical. They are a bit woozy from getting high on their own supply...huffing the fumes of their propaganda, that is. The pretense of care is not the same thing as care, but they hardly need that pointed out. Very quickly, I saw the faux-compassion for what it really is: an empty sideshow that does nothing but highlight the arrogance and conceit hiding beneath the cheerful façade. It's the kind of crap they make for the people who really matter to them: the board of directors, wealthy donors, and "community partners." Just before I left I was in talks with a law firm to sue them and my department for employment discrimination. The lawyer was adamant that I had a good case. But here's the thing: these losers already wasted too much of my time and headspace. But to someone else with more fight in them I'd say this: save your emails and print them out, take screenshots, and when your colleagues start harassing you and mistreating clients, don't delay, write everything down. I have no regrets because I did these things, I had the option to go after them, but I left on my own terms. Perhaps one day, places like Kitsap Mental Health Services will actually focus on serving others rather than themselves. But for that to happen, they would need to be open to change or improvement. Right now the only thing they're open to is self-congratulation for services not performed and for compassion they didn't show. Maybe after the vapors wear off (or their endless stream of money dries up), they will finally be able to look at who they actually are in the mirror, even if driven by necessity rather than moral courage.

I am filing this complaint due to a highly concerning series of events during my recent emergency…read moredepartment visit. I experienced medical negligence, unprofessional conduct, and poor infection control practices that warrant immediate review. I came in with chest pain. After cardiac issues were ruled out, no further testing or treatment was offered, even though I was still in pain (later confirmed to be severe heartburn). I was discharged without receiving any appropriate relief or care for my symptoms. The nurse who placed my IV blew a vein in my arm and caused visible bruising and pain. I was later handed discharge papers--but still had the IV needle in my hand. I had to return to the charge desk and alert them. Only then did the nurse reappear and take my vitals again, acting as if I hadn't already been discharged. Even more concerning, my blood sample (drawn during IV flush an hour prior) was still sitting out on the exam table. When I asked about it, the nurse simply tossed it in the sharps container. My urine sample was also left out in the open. I had to ask what was happening with it. The nurse responded that since I had told them I wasn't pregnant, they "didn't need it anymore"--but no one had informed me they would be discarding it, nor did anyone properly dispose of it until I asked. The level of care was sloppy, unsafe, and deeply unprofessional. My husband was present for the entire visit and witnessed each of these failures firsthand. Kaitlynn
