This is an amazing cutting edge community resource like no other! It helps the most vulnerable underserved population with care and dignity despite limited resources. t is growing to meet the needs of folks with mental illness from south county in Port Orchard to Port Townshend and beyond! They have programs in the schools, jail, inpatient, outpatient, children and adults, they host a crisis line open to all (dial 2-1-1), and help folks who have co-occuring disorders of addiction and mental health. The staff is well trained, there are primary care physicians as well as dental services available to all who need. Thank goodness for Kitsap Mental Health! PS There are definitely staffed psychiatrists who are intimately involved in the care plans and medications, although it is possible that some folks may not be aware of this. read more

Telling a person that it is perfectly acceptable to cold turkey go without your psychiatric medication and then call the police on you to report that you are suicidal because you don't have the medication but they said you could go without. These people are not trying to help anybody they are lining their pockets with government money doing as little as they can for the individuals they serve and for those that they can't make shut up they just call the police on which actually gets them nowhere because you don't have to open your door for a police officer just because he says this is a welfare check you don't have to open your door to anybody that does not have a search warrant read more

I was a supervisor here recently. I left after being harassed by my vicious, self-obsessed colleagues. My crime was daring to ask that we treat clients like human beings. Oops! I witnessed traumatizing three hour long client intakes where clients were repeatedly asked the same questions about their childhood abuse and drug use by the "therapist," who was a slob in sweatpants and flipflops who couldn't even be bothered to put his energy drink out of view (which looked exactly like a beer can!), and their problems were discussed in public areas and talked over as if they didn't exist. Oh, but the client DID get a "trigger warning" and was told it was a "safe space" before being disrespected and dismissed, so I guess it's okay, right? I witnessed my degenerate coworkers repeatedly trash the clients they work with, then feign compassion whenever the boss looked in. My boss repeatedly ordered me to do unnecessary and unethical things, even when I warned her against doing so. She worked in the jail system for years and it showed in her automaton-like, unblinking submission to numerous counterproductive, pointless procedures and protocols. My infantile coworkers literally called her "mommy" to her face. If regular folks ever saw how these fancy, bloated mental health services were run, you'd think it was an episode of Park & Rec...except that they're supposed to be serving people with severe mental illness, but unlike in TV land, stupidity and immaturity have real-life consequences for suffering people, and that is why I am so disgusted by it. This company has the most absurdly over the top, tech security measures, yet they had a major data breach that nearly shut down the company. They have millions of dollars at their disposal, which they spend to have employees do no work, but merely watch the same DEI training videos over and over. One of the many laborious, worthless trainings I was forced to attend, was for a subject I teach: group therapy. In it, the trainer emphasized control, punishment, and authoritarian mind games directed at clients. She also counseled us to do things that are stupid, unsafe and illegal, like coming up to agitated clients from behind and touching them! You can't make this stuff up. Every level of KMHS from the top down are totally disconnected from reality and have absolutely no interest in improving the quality of their services. Numerous people were hired and quit just in my several weeks. The de facto management philosophy can be summed in three words: chaos, crisis, contradiction...and usually some combination of all three. The highest levels of executive management were personally informed by me of the lack of compassion and professionalism in client interactions, but as usual with these companies, they could care less about anything other than optics. The OCRP forensics program in particular is a sad joke. It wastes thousands of dollars without serving anyone. Based on what I'm seeing state wide, OCRP serves as window dressing so the state can pretend it's actually keeping people out of Western State Hospital. Because of the incompetence among those who devised and administer the program, it does very little good for anyone, particularly when you see how many resources are devoted to it. I've worked at many of these sh*tshows and they are virtually identical. They are a bit woozy from getting high on their own supply...huffing the fumes of their propaganda, that is. The pretense of care is not the same thing as care, but they hardly need that pointed out. Very quickly, I saw the faux-compassion for what it really is: an empty sideshow that does nothing but highlight the arrogance and conceit hiding beneath the cheerful façade. It's the kind of crap they make for the people who really matter to them: the board of directors, wealthy donors, and "community partners." Just before I left I was in talks with a law firm to sue them and my department for employment discrimination. The lawyer was adamant that I had a good case. But here's the thing: these losers already wasted too much of my time and headspace. But to someone else with more fight in them I'd say this: save your emails and print them out, take screenshots, and when your colleagues start harassing you and mistreating clients, don't delay, write everything down. I have no regrets because I did these things, I had the option to go after them, but I left on my own terms. Perhaps one day, places like Kitsap Mental Health Services will actually focus on serving others rather than themselves. But for that to happen, they would need to be open to change or improvement. Right now the only thing they're open to is self-congratulation for services not performed and for compassion they didn't show. Maybe after the vapors wear off (or their endless stream of money dries up), they will finally be able to look at who they actually are in the mirror, even if driven by necessity rather than moral courage. read more

No warm water for showers for two weeks. Told there are no people on staff my friend can talk to about it

Been a long haul bit after 7-plus years we got Dr. Miller and she worked beautifully with my brother who struggled with psychosis, pervasive developmental disorder and Mosaic down's. Not an easy task. Not to mention dealing with me and I'm just plain post-menopausal grumpy from the struggle to keep my brother alive. Anyhow, the new meds seem to have really improved his condition. Yesterday he said he was feeling much better as he sang a tune and chatted happily and his hair is growing back in as well. Thank you. Also thanks to Juanita for helping him get in his family home which has helped so much. Too bad they are overwhelmed and understaffed. It would be better outcomes for more folks and maybe fewer years of struggle. read more

I couldn't recommend this facility any less. Employees don't stick around. They just graduated and started their careers. The rest of the staff didn't know what they were doing and couple with the fact that they treated all patient like drug addicts and unworthy. I was breaking apart under stress and severe abuse. They never contacted anyone or reported. I was gaslighted and manipulated into staying. I started recording the conversations I had with them and recommend that. You'll walk away from this situation in disbelief. The recordIngs allowed me to be rescued. I was take out of the situation. Given better medical care and getting my life back in order. I attempted to take my life twice under their care. Even when I ended up in the ER, still no straightening out. It shouldn't of happened. Nor should I had my medication tampered with. read more

I see that there are no half star ratings...I give them a 3.5. mostly for effort and durability in the community. To the best of my knowledge- Kitsap Mental Health Services is a mental health care provider in Kitsap County. Consumers are cared for as best as their ever-changing policies can offer. Help ranges from medication, psychological, social work, temporary housing, inpatient and outpatient care and other forms of supportive assistance to the community. The 3.5 rating comes from ever changing staff and policies. This turbulence deeply injures the predictable dependable bonding needed for the best outcome of the consumer. To date, they have no licensed Psychiatrist on staff available to outpatients. The vast majority, if not all of those who make the medical decisions are LPNs with added training. I strongly feel that this oversight is a tremendous concern. They should have professionals with the credentials to render the best possible assistance to those in need. I have had some good and some bad experiences. The Good: There are visibly fewer mentally ill in crisis wandering in Bremerton and seem to be cared for by what KMHS offers than in other cities or towns. The Bad: I was snarked at during a Psychiatric Evaluation, by a non-Psychiatrist. I left in tears. The staff turn over rate is unnerving. If use and or lack of funding is what keeps KMHS from excelling in a non-competitive market, falling short of a moral obligation to offer the best services possible, I am saddened. I will submit that this is one person's opinion only. Experiences may and do vary. After decades of seeking services from KMHS for periodic issues, I have to ask if this is what is available, is this "as good as it gets"? read more

This is the biggest waste of time. My preteen was being counseled for depression and her 'therapist' told me that they legally had no right to inform me as to how the sessions were going and that due to confidentially, wouldn't be telling me anything about my child's therapy. Therapist went to my child's school every Friday morning, pulled her out of class and proceeded to waste time letting my daughter draw pictures to music. When i called a few times to ask about specific issues my child was still having after nearly a year of 'therapy', the therapist said 'what? I don't know anything about that. We haven't talked about any of those problems!' She had literay forgotten what the main concern..the main reason my child was even seeing her for despite my repeating it at the first meeting, and my bringing it up half a dozen times later! In fact, my daughter told me she never talked about anything really in therapy. On top of that, my daughter's issues became worse. I never recieved a phone call from these people they would tell my daughter when the therapist wasn't able to be there that week! Never heard from them again! This review is for the location out in Port Orchard. When one is in therapy sharing the most painful years of their life it is beyond difficult! To have experienced the trauma as a young child day in day out, for weeks, months, years no Mother around kept like a POW you just can't imagine what it's like to go through something like that. Often I felt I would go insane. The one therapist I used to see had interjected something I felt was offensive. Word of advice or suggestion when someone is relaying a painful story NEVER interject your version of what you think might have happened. It's just never a good idea. When I tried to address my concerns , I felt that I wasn't really taken seriously. So I won't ever go back. If I could I would give this place a half star. Didn't care for the front desk they take the time to learn some names but no others, I needed to make an appointment then no one was working at the front desk. Not a great place. read more
