Maybe I am jaded because I was spoiled shopping at Zara in Spain (Madrid, Malaga, Marbella) for 5…read moreyears and currently regularly in Cancun. Those other Zara stores definitely have a larger selection. The prices are also much lower outside here. On my last visit, I found a pair of pants I just loved. The price in $'s was $99. On the tag you could see the price in Euros and that was €49 (about $60). The pants had the white on white Zara label, which is their lowest quality. Nope. Not for $99. I looked around more and the sale racks were a jumble. I looked a little bit thru them for blouses with no luck. I didn't purchase anything here.

Today, I went back to exchange a pair of pants that I bought yesterday for another size, mind you same exact pants just another size. When I get to the register they do the exchange and tell me that I owe the taxes on the pants, I tell her she is wrong and to call the manager. Manager comes out, I won't bore you with the back and forth, but she gives me some story about how each pant has its own serial number and since I'm exchanging them, the state is charging me tax!! So before I blow up and make spectacle of myself over 4 dollars and change (the Tax)...I leave. I wanted the pants so I paid it. I call their corporate customer service. They tell me to go online and submit both receipts and that they will review it!! Waste of time! Also take note, the Manager at the store told the cashier. "We will not be overriding the tax on any exchanges that will be coming in." And turned around and left. I showed the following to the cashier, but it was a moot point! I know I should have just left the pants.. but wanted them. I just want any of you that may encounter this situation, especially at ZARA Dadeland you can be armed and maybe be a better fighter than I . I hope ZARA sees this and trains their employees on the correct procedures and Laws where they are operating their stores. This is what I found when I searched if the store was correct in charging me tax: The store mistakenly charged you tax. Under the official rules of the Florida Department of Revenue, if you purchase a tax-exempt item during a sales tax holiday and later exchange it for the exact same item in a different size or color, no tax is due --even if the exchange occurs after the holiday has ended. (I LII | Lega... +1 Cite the state rule: Explain that according to Florida tax law (Rule 12A-1.117 / Sales Tax Holiday Exchange Guidelines), an even size-exchange for an item bought during the tax holiday remains tax-exempt. § Moffa Tax Law +1 The store is legally required to refund the incorrectly collected tax money back to you. Zara do better.
