It was a textbook labour (aka "easy") and epidural-free, under the care of midwives in a birth centre. That being said, I felt traumatized by it for quite some time afterwards. The pain totally surprised me and I felt like things got out of control. It was otherworldly and, quite frankly, I needed more support than I got. During my second pregnancy, I did some research. I realised midwives, doctors, and nurses are great as healthcare providers, but they don't provide much emotional support. I wanted more emotional support and I wanted A LOT of suggestions on how to manage the pain in the moment. Enter Kate. She impressed me right away because I could see she was super organised. She also had an immense toolkit to manage pain and calm emotions. Hiring her was a no-brainer (although I admit I had some sticker shock -- more on this later) My second labour ended up being more challenging than the first (epidural failed, baby was stuck, etc.), but it felt better and more peaceful thanks to Kate's presence. Nothing about it felt traumatic. I cannot recommend Kate enough. Don't believe my review? My husband was skeptical prior to meeting Kate. "I don't think she'll be able to offer much more than a midwife", he said. After meeting her, he was surprised and impressed by her knowledge and toolkit. Our daughter is excited to go there in the morning and, in the evening, she's had a full and adventurous day. Gloria's great about teaching about sharing and has even started potty training (our daughter is 18 months). The space is completely child oriented, full of stimulating toys and has a cozy sleeping area and kitchen down stairs. My understanding is that it has has been regularly inspected by the ministry and is up to code and that the primary reason why it is not licensed is there is no outdoor play area, which is simply not possible in their current location. However almost every day Gloria takes the kids to various parks, the library, and drop in centers in the neighborhood and regularly takes further excursions including the Riverdale Farm, science center, and strawberry picking. On these outings, Gloria's often meets up with the other Play 'n Stay located near Broadview and Gerrard, which is also owned by Gloria and Sultan and run by Gina. Since we've been there, Gloria has had 5 kids ranging from 9 months to 3 years. This has been a good age-mix for our daughter as it's like a big family where the bigger kids stimulate and interact with the younger ones. Gloria regularly does circle time with singing, activities, and art. She gives them nutritious hot breakfast and lunch and plenty of snacks with fruits and veggies. In the evenings she gives us an update on the naps, bowel movements, and eating and generally how they has gone. When we're concerned about our daughter--if she's feeling under the weather or otherwise--we can text and get prompt responses through out the day. We feel close with the families of the Play 'n Stay, and we feel fortunate to be part of this tight community. We regularly meet them at the parks and farmers markets in the evenings or on the weekends and we communicate over email about important issues relating to raising our kids. It's hard to describe how reassuring it is to know how much love and care Gloria has for our our daughter and the rest of the kids at Play 'n Stay. She and Sultan work incredibly hard to provide a truly wonderful environment and big extended family for our daughter.

You used to request a nanny and then pay a fee when one was confirmed. Now they charge 300 dollars a quarter (1200 dollars a year!!!) to access their platform. I had a three month trial and then paid for one quarter. I tried to request nannies on a few occasions and never had a successful booking. In order for this cost to make sense, you would need to use nannies 5 times a month on average. I asked for a refund for the last two months of my quarter and I got a canned instant response that basically said they don't issue refunds. They said this was the only way to make the service 'financially viable.' They also said they can't guarantee nannies will be available on the platform. They didn't really care about retaining me as a customer even though my sister and I made over a 100 bookings with them in the past combined. If I didn't have a good experience before with them, I would think they are a scam. It seems predatory to offer a premium service, under-deliver and then keep the high fees. There are some alternative services to try including Summerhill and In A Pinch. If you are thinking about signing up for NOC, do the trial and see if you can actually get someone booked before paying and cancel your subscription immediately if you don't like it. Otherwise they take your 300 bucks. If you read older reviews, make sure you look in the last few months as older reviews are for their old system which was way better.

They are not responsible and leave your family unsupported if anything, even health or safety concerns happens to your kids or your family by their unprofessional nannies. As a father of two with the years of experience of managing hundreds of people in several companies across the world and working with many international firms, I strongly believe that Nanny Ninja is the most unprofessional unresponsive company (if we can name it a company) I have ever seen. The nanny they sent us was a horrible experience for my family, particularly for my kids. She did know nothing about taking care of the babies, was lazy, was unprofessional, and most importantly was a LIAR! As a client, even with her unsatisfactory performance we gently paid the wage in full and reported company about the poor performance and our safety/security concerns from the beginning minutes of her work. At the end of the day she was fine to continue her work the next day, but we did not want and informed company about it. Company response expected to be supportive and immediate to replace the nanny and take the responsibility of their commitment to us for providing help in those agreed days. But we not only did not receive a supportive action from them, but company cancelled their agreement without considering the tightness of my family situation based on some false statements. Nanny Ninja as the company who should have been responsible for this mess but was not, made a lot of stress, safety and security concerns for my family. I was seriously concerned particularly as Nanny Ninja owner claimed that they had recently employed this girl and had no enough experience with her! Nanny Ninja! You should be ashamed! You had sent an unprofessional stranger to my family who had hurt my little 12-month-old baby mentally and emotionally but did not take the responsibility of your failure??!!! What do you know about kids' and families" safety, security, peace of mind?? What do you know about professionalism??? Is it your job to protect yourself and your untrustworthy, undeserved nanny but not to protect your client, particularly the health and the safety of their two little kids, from a harmful nanny???? That amount of placement fee that you have refunded, which you should have to, because you did not deliver your service does not compensate the level of stress, pressure and concerns you imposed to my family.
