Anyway, just my observation as someone who walked by it on the sidewalk once and definitely not the bass teacher with the essential oil diffuser (it's cedarwood oil). Yesterday, I went to Guitar Center to sell back some products that were still basically brand new…read moreand had only been used once. I understood that I was already past the return deadline and would only receive about 60% back through their buyback program, which I was willing to accept. However, the experience became extremely frustrating due to how I was treated by staff. I drove 40 minutes to the store yesterday only to be turned away because I didn't have my ID with me. So today, I made another 40-minute drive to try again, only to be turned away a second time because I arrived three minutes after the start of their "closing procedures." I was then told they are not allowed to process buybacks within an hour of closing, despite the store still being open. After spending nearly 2 hours and 40 minutes driving back and forth between both trips, all I walked away with was disappointment and frustration. The lack of communication, consistency, and customer service was extremely disappointing. Because of this experience, I will no longer be shopping at or doing business with Guitar Center. May I remind you gas is at $5 a fucking gallon.

The instructors are outstanding, with advanced degrees and music education training and the Suzuki method. The philosophy is to teach the whole child - both in learning to play an instrument using proper technique, and also in learning valuable life lessons as well. We have been very happy with Ed Kreitman, the Director of the school, and our violin instructor, Ryan Caparella. Ryan has a flexible teaching style based on the needs of every child. He has pushed both of our children out of their comfort zones in healthy ways, but with empathy and understanding throughout every interaction. The needs of our two children could not be more different, and Ryan also developed a strong relationship with me and my husband to ensure an open dialogue about evolving needs as our kids have grown and matured. He was also very supportive as we made the decision after several years to discontinue instruction for our daughter as she pursued other interests. The school provides unique experiences for growth no matter where a child is in their musical journey. Children can take music improvisation classes early on, and as they become more experienced there are many opportunities for other unique performance experiences outside of private instruction, small group repertoire classes and orchestra. These include Allegro!!!, an elite string performance group, Cellissimo, a cello performance ensemble group and Chicago Consort, the most advanced performing ensemble. These groups even offer opportunities to travel and perform internationally. The school also offers a summer chamber music camp, a week-long experience to play alongside faculty, study chamber music repertoire, music theory, sight-reading and history. We've experienced notable improvement recently in the school's administration, communication and event coordination. We paid for it a month ahead of the time, cleared our schedules, even had extended family informed. It was supposed to be at 9:45 this morning at a church. We had grandparents from out of town drive 2.5 hours so that they can be a part of it. We bought our son a new suit and dress shoes, as we were emailed by the teacher about the dress code, no gym shoes. We bought flowers to give to our son afterwards to congratulate him. Not even mentioning hours of practice he did for the event and the excitement he had. ALL to get a call 10 minutes prior the event, when we were already in the church parking lot, informing us that the event got cancelled. THE REASON: they could not get into the church. There was ONE, SINGLE, point of contact they had with the church, who failed to show up to let them in. I went to the office as I believe I needed more of an explanation. The staff and owners did not even accept responsibility for this: 'Church person did not show up!'. When I said the place you pick is your responsibility, all they can say was we can happily refund you for the recital money. How are you going to refund the disappointment, frustration and waste of time? Also couple months ago, our teacher was not available for two weeks. Their scheduling is so NOT flexible that they could not schedule make up classes for us at all. We ended up specifically demanding a refund for those classes as they tried to schedule something for weeks but were unable to do so. Our son has been taking classes here for two years now. We love our teacher. But this level of ineptitude displayed by the staff and the owners is just beyond comprehension.

I have a cleft pallet and he always sounded annoyed when I try to explain to him that I can't reach to certain high notes and he tells me not to do something with my mouth even though that's the only way for me to play my trombone.
