Both serve AMAZING prime rib. But tonight we thought, "You know what? Let's branch out. Let's try the Windmill again! It was GREAT a few years ago!" That was our first mistake. Ten minutes go by before we get WATER. Another ten minutes before anyone comes over to take our drink and food order. Then we wait. And wait. And WAIT. Nearly an HOUR later, our food finally arrived. At this point I assumed they had gone out back, located the cow, negotiated the terms of its surrender, processed it, and THEN started cooking our dinner. Surely after an hour, this prime rib was going to absolutely SLAP. Friends. It did not slap. It barely tapped. I ordered the prime rib, but what arrived tasted like a ham steak wearing a fake mustache trying to sneak into the beef section. The texture was bizarre. The flavor was bizarre. The entire thing was having an identity crisis. I kept looking at it like, "Sir... are you SURE you're prime rib?" Meanwhile, my son ordered the "Prime Top Cut Sirloin." Apparently "top cut" means they launch it directly into the sun and wait for it to return. That poor steak was BURNT on the outside and tough. I'm pretty sure if we'd had another 20 minutes, we could've attached a handle to it and used it as a cutting board. Look, I understand busy restaurants. I understand slow service. I understand kitchens getting backed up. But after nearly an hour, I expected a prime rib so magnificent that angels would descend from Heaven carrying au jus. Instead, I got a ham impersonator and my son got a roofing shingle. We came for prime rib. We left with questions. SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. The Windmill we remembered from a few years ago was GREAT. Whatever happened tonight was an entirely different cinematic universe. Prime rib: currently experiencing an identity crisis. Sirloin: cremated. A more common scenario is for the server to ask if you want these additional ingredients when they take the order. They will charge you extra (on top of their already high prices) if you pay with a credit card. This same bartender didn't share this detail with me until I asked why my bill wasn't the price listed in the menu. When I expressed disappointment and asked for a receipt so I could go to the cashier to pay with cash, she made the comment "I don't make the rules".
