Bar was great. Prices were awesome. Bartenders were spectacular.. besides one guy. We'll get into that later. We're traveling for work so we wanted to do karaoke..drinks were served.. vibes were awesome.. the karaoke guy was even more awesome! He was super sweet, you could tell he liked his job.. well.. if you want to do karaoke you better STAY ON THE STAGE. Because the undercover ICE agent with no hair who also bartends on the weekends to make sure his bills are paid (child support is a pain).. will ruin your night.. don't touch the curtains on the stage and definitely don't roam around the floor to hype people up while you sing karaoke.. because he'll unleash his dogs on you (the security guards. That's right.. whoever you are that is security for this place.. just know.. he thinks u are his little minions)... anyways.. small guy. When in Billings, this is the late night spot. From the long standing host to the very reasonably priced beer, this is a must stop. I was driving through Billings looking for a dive bar and this place seemed the most intriguing. I'm usually not a big fan of karaoke bars, but the regulars made this place very enjoyable. You get a free drink if you sing karaoke, but I didn't reach my sing a song drinking limit. The bar posters were similar to the ones at my regular bar back home. The bartenders were pumping out free popcorns for patrons which was a nice touch. The drinks were super cheap as well. The next time I am in Billings I will definitely make a stop for the Crystal Lounge and Casino. read more

A fun place to hang out with friends for a drink and some singing or play some slots. People are friendly and good mixed drinks. My only complaint is that the DJ will favor the locals on the list and you will get skipped if you don't pay attention to where you are on the list. One star is being generous. Went to Billings to visit some friends on 11/9. They suggested the Crystal. We were all in a great mood, hadn't even been drinking yet. Still having a great time laughing as friends do when they get together. The bartender that was sitting outside on his break, let out a long F*** as he walked inside. My guess he made up his mind at that point he wasn't going to serve us. Picked an argument with one of us for no reason other than he could "refuse" to serve us. I guess a thank you is in order as we hit Daisy Dukes, several hundred dollars later and a great time. Awesome bartenders! Forget the Crystal and Daisy Dukes! read more

Awesome place, cheap drinks, happy hour every day! And it is happy, with friendly attentive bartenders, well drinks only $2.50, free popcorn, and free juke box credits to choose the music you like. What more could you want? A casino adjoins next door, but other than peaking in, I didn't play. One of the dealers stopped over after his work and started chatting with us. Everyone at this place was so nice! I read a couple of negative reviews on here slamming the bartenders, and I don't know what they're talking about or if they even reviewed the right place. Our bartenders Chris and Lacy were great! Both were friendly and funny and constantly attentive to our drinks. Lacy even made a fresh bag of hot popcorn just for me. Which, as you'll see in my photo, comes with 4 different salt toppings so you can customize your popcorn. Winning! Chris made me one of his signature specialty shots, the "red rooster" with tequila and Tobasco and it was delicious! Definitely recommend. Also, the entire bar was spotlessly clean. There wasn't so much as a popcorn kernel on the floor, except for the one that I dropped and then felt awkward. This may sound weird to review, but even the bathrooms were spotless. Most bars like this would have filthy, nasty bathrooms without locks on the doors, no toilet paper, and a mess of paper towels on the floor. Ladies, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Not here. Totally clean everywhere. Perhaps best of all, we sat here for a few hours and racked up 10 or so drinks. Our total tab? $21. Toto, we're not in the big city anymore. So cheap. If I ever find myself back in Billings, I'm definitely stopping in here for happy hour or karaoke, which happens 365 days a year. read more

After hearing nothing but decent things by other traveling healthcare workers when asked where I could karaoke ...I'm actually unsure if we even ended up at the same place?! Was not even in this sorry excuse of an "establishment" for two full mins, or even spoken to by anyone other than the front door man when we went in and just checked out the casino for thirty seconds and then walked back out and sat away from everyone at the end of the bar. We were then approached by the front door man who stated my friend (who I had been with all night for our 3 drinks in 3 hours) has had "too much to drink and can't be served". When we asked who has said that, because we had spoken to NOT ONE PERSON OTHER THAN HIM he stated "Sarah said so". When we asked to speak to Sarah, because obviously she had not even had a conversation with any of us and we were confused, we were instead met with a bald man who then spoke to us like we were nothing, would not hear us out and would not explain what or why other than "Sarah said so". As someone who has worked 10+ years as a bartender and a waitress while going through school, i could NEVER. Whoever "Sarah" is, what a sad, depressed woman to try to ruin others nights for no reason and what a sad, sorry excuse of a "bar" to treat new costumers like that. Will NOT be back and will make sure every friend I make in the hospital while being here to NEVER waste their time or money in such a toxic environment. read more

What a joke! A little over two years ago, there was a misunderstanding between the owner, the DJ and I. I said that it would not happen again. And that was the end of it, I thought I was more offended by being told how I thought because the DJ knew my inner thought process. Funny thing is, ten days later I got a new girlfriend, and I didn't even do the performances in question. Now, realize, I wasn't drunk. I didn't use violence, and I never groped anyone. As a matter of fact, the DJ recruited me for backup .. only to be told the next week, that I wasn't needed. Which I said, fine. n and there that if the owner or the DJ were there I wouldn't return. Two years later I come in to entertain their crowd, who loves me. Right after they took my money, and I sang, I was informed I'd been kicked out. And that I had to talk to the owner or the DJ to return. Hard to tell these guys are over 60, since I ain't seen this kind of Mickey Mouse drama since Jr. High. The bar is small and not well lit. Now, realize, I was never TOLD I was banned. Many people begged me to come back to the Crystal. And I told them, when the owner and the DJ apologize to me, I might return. Now, not a chance I'll ever entertain their crowd. I will be moving back to Billings and you can find me at any other karaoke bar than this one. I feel sorry for the few good people who do work there. read more

What a horrible establishment. We came in with a group of friends on a quiet Saturday and they kicked us out. We were being respectful, and they proceeded to kick us out because they were "suspicious" that we were underage. We were all 22+ years old with most of us being 24. This is a sorry establishment that does not appreciate the local economy. Avoid this place at ALL costs. read more

They took our temperatures at the door and provided hand sanitizer as we entered. Visited from out of town last night after a concert. The two male bartenders ignored me until I flagged the bald one down. Very rude to me when I said I'd been waiting for awhile and the other short male bartender just kept walking by and ignoring me. Waited for over two hours to sing a karaoke song. Asked why she kept bumping me when I've been waiting. She straight up told me that I didn't tip her and others did, so she let them sing. Why even take song requests if you're only going to let people that pay, sing? read more

0 stars...this place is a joke. First time here and the manager "Rosie" is beyond unprofessional, disgusting attitude, threatening, and complete slob with a foul mouth for a manager. Cannot believe you'd allow that person to be staffed at your establishment..I'll make sure to let everyone I know how patrons are treated there, and don't try the poker tables...rigged and the weirdest rules I've seen in Montana. But I was just traveling through and put my Karaoke song in early - but after 2 hours of seeing the locals jump me many times, I took the hint and went back to the hotel.. too bad Billings - you missed out on my incredible Cheap Trick song! Smelled a little weird, sketchy characters upon first glance. Next thing we know it's four hours later and we've made friends with the bartenders and fellow patrons, as well as enjoyed and participated in the karaoke. The drinks were strong and cheap, and the popcorn was flowing! read more

Brian is hands down the worst bartender in the history of bartenders. Do NOT let him take your drink. I asked for a whiskey coke and revived a glass full of only coca cola. That's not what I asked or paid for. Not to mention he took my cousin's beer that was HALF FULL and asked if they wanted a refill. Well, she wanted to finish her drink, that's for sure. This bar will rip you off if you don't know how to work around it. I just asked for shots and a side of coke for a chaser and it was WAY more worth my money than a mixed drink was. Very cool karaoke bar. Casual, laid-back; got to sing, even as a non-local. Cocktails were super cheap - about $3.50 for vodka sodas, $4.25 for vodka mules, and when you sing your first song, you get a coupon for buy-one-get-one free drink. Met some fun folks, and some of the singers were really good (some not so good); pretty typical. Love this place. If I lived here, could see myself frequenting this place. read more

now having left Montana after temporary work there I only have very fond memories of this place. Turns out the Crystal Lounge is the place I went to the most of all the bars and restaurants. Thus it deserves 5 stars for great location, easy street parking, cheap drinks, great staff, free snacks, fun karaoke (yeah, even I sang a few songs and no one threw tomatoes! lol). There are several great eateries nearby (Ten, Bin119, Jakes) thus you have a nice dinner and come, drink, dance and sing away! So here is a funny story. I am there with my oool GG friend, Deborah (fyi GG is genetic girl versus TG or transgirl). We are two hot Asian babes (well I like to pretend I'm hot, lol), all dressed up (yeah even in Billings we can wear high heels!) on the town and I take her here. It is during the midweek and we seat ourselves in the middle of the bar. We order our cheap drinks (Bud Light $2.75) and pick some songs to sing (what am I crazy?!?. When you sing a song, Michael May gives you a 2 for 1 drink card as your reward for singing. Now is that cool or what? Drinks are already cheap and now even a little cheaper. Some guy comes in later and gives us that approving eye like he wants us. Us girls, both TG and GG just love attention, right but he looked like some redneck farmer who was probably wowed by Asian chicks hanging out in Billings, Montana! He sits near us then after 15 minutes comes over to offer us both a drink. Cool Stephanie gives him our 2 for 1 card since why not let him save a little money as well. We start having a conversation after we both thank him for offering us a drink. He then says to me, "i was taken aback when you first started talking". Oh or oops another guy fooled by lil ol' me. Not purposely we were just being fabulous that night, that's all. He then says, "you know I know people who would punch you out". I respond, oh well thanks for not bringing them here tonight and I also say, well as long as you don't punch me out, we're good to go. He was actually cool and wanted to continue to conversation since I don't think he sees that many Asian GGs or TGs in Billings and tell me those punchers are very insecure with themselves and he is clearly above that. My partner grew up in Billings, so I've had the good fortune to visit the Crystal twice for a song and a drink. On my last visit the KJ actually recorded my song and gave me a buy 1 get 1 free drink ticket. Holy Cow! Back in my hometown you sometimes have to pay to sing, or at least tip the KJ so they don't bump you to the bottom of the queue. Anyway, I think this place is pretty funky. You can buy popcorn and get various flavors of special salt/butter to top it with. The server was cute and very nice, the singers range from the terrible to the amazing, so it's low-pressure and always a good time. The guy who told me I sounded like I was opera-singing on "Crazy On You" kind of embarrassed me, but whatever. I'll take opera over awful any day. read more

Stopped in on the Fourth of July. It was the only place in town that was open with food. The supreme pizza was amazing. We watched the bartender throw the pizza dough before our eyes. When the pizza arrived to us you could tell the ingredients were fresh and the pizza was made to order. The bar also had cheap drinks and friendly staff. read more

My Dad was a bartender at the Crystal in the 1950's for several years. (He was a great bartender, too!) They always made sure they had a big batch of Dad's own Tom 'n Jerry batter on hand for New Year's Eve. I also remember they served dinners at that time and sitting in a big, red booth. This is my favorite place in town. It's in a great location , the staff are great I've known a lot of them for a few years now some from the bar some from outside of the bar. I like spending time in the casino and in bar it's nice to be able to get up and sing if you want to. I have never been treated with anything but respect the customer service skills are really good. And when you add everybody's personality do you get one great bar the best bar in Billings. It's nice to go there and feel safe and recognize people's faces yet you never know who you will meet there. And Michael who runs karaoke tell such awful jokes you can't help but roll on the floor with laughter.
