But even the new items did not look mass produced there was a very strong representation of artisan and local goods. I happen to visit right before Valentine's Day and was impressed with the obvious care that was often shown by the various vendors in arranging their displays with a spring theme. Their cages are nice, but the food is in a spot they can poop on, and every cage had a fouled water dish. There is a secret closet in the back that has many birds in it (we could hear them) - but no windows. None of the cages have any enrichment toys. We are from a different state, and are dismayed by Wisconsin's very poor animal protection laws. This sort of extended animal abuse would not be tolerated in our state. (We saw the same sort of problems last summer.)

Most recently, in 2016 when my husband and I decided we were going to build a house the following year and wanted to include numerous salvaged pieces in the Craftsman style house, Julie and J were there to help as we bounced ideas off them. They really helped us to formulate our ideas and concepts into actual additions into our new home. Julie helped me find the perfect ridge beam to use as a mantle. We also got (local) Buckstaff factory flooring which we installed into the tray ceiling in our dining room, which J actually cut down for us at the shop because the bundle wouldn't fit in our jeep! We also found the perfect claw foot tub for our bathroom, a couple vintage doors, hardware...not to mention my favorite piece, the trap door from Buckstaff Company, which is now an art piece, hanging prominently on the wall in our home. They also kept an eye out and helped find the perfect vintage buffet to use as a bar! We have so many pieces around our house that could not have come to fruition without Crescent Moon Antiques & Salvage. Julie and J are always excited to hear what projects and ideas we are pondering. Even if I'm not already brewing an idea, just taking some time to walk through the shop is so inspiring that I come away with project ideas! Julie and J are incredibly passionate about preserving history and tastefully incorporating salvaged materials or pieces into homes and businesses. It was easy to navigate through this gem of a store and we shopped for hours. The selection is incredible, they have a bit of everything here. There are some great deals here too.
