Had a horrible experience at "Back in Balance" Chiropractor in Westboro. If you are looking for chiropractic treatment, do NOT go there. I saw Keith Ellard. My review is long, fair warning. I got an X-Ray done, to determine how severe the injury was in my back (I've had pain in my lower back for 5+ years after a previous injury). X-Ray came back and Keith told me it did not seem too bad, and that I should respond quickly to treatment. I came back for an adjustment, and then he sent me over to reception to go through the treatment plan he had design for me. I get to reception, and they told me Keith wants me to come 3x a week for 4 weeks, then 2x a week for a few more weeks. I was VERY taken aback. That is a fair amount of appointments, considering he told me that my X-Ray results did not look severe. ALSO each appointment is only FIVE MINUTES, for - get this - 50 bucks each. I tentatively agreed to the plan and left. Then I started getting anxious because I can't afford half of those appointments - my insurance only covers so much. So I called back and asked to speak to Keith next time I came in, thinking maybe there was an explanation. Here's the good part. I come back today, and he walks into the room. No "hi", no "how are you". Just "so you have questions", then proceeds to launch into the reasoning behind the frequency of appointments, saying I won't respond to treatment unless they are done close together. He explains that I may need more/less, depending on how I respond in 4 weeks time. The he said coldly "so that was your question"? At this point I'm feeling extremely pressured and unsure of myself, so I voice my concerns. I explained that I can't financially afford it (he never offered to lower the price after I said that), that my partner had chiro done for whiplash and even HE went to less appointments than me. I also said that my X-Ray results were not severe. Keith said that because I've had the injury for a long time, I need more appointments. Finally I said "well unfortunately I can't make that treatment plan work. I'm going to my physio on Friday, maybe they can help". He looked pissed, and said "they likely won't be able to do anything for your back". Which made me even more upset, considering my physio has done wonders for my other sports-related injuries. Finally I just said I'm going to wait and see how physio works, and he said "well we're here if you need us". The thing that pissed me off was not the reasoning behind his treatment plan. It was the intense pressure to buy into his care from the very start, and the intense lack of empathy for my concerns. Plus the complete absence of polite behaviour that - if he had had it - would have made me feel even slightly more comfortable. Do not go there. read more

Excellent care! If you have an appointment, you will almost never have to wait. If you need an emergency appointment (throw your back out), they fit you in immediately. They've been fantastic for the five years I've going to them. read more

great clinic and great VARIETY of services. Very prompt for appointments. I have only witnessed one time where Dr Kely Norman was running 10 minutes behind schedule. Dr Norman is a mother and she lived through the same problems first-hand. She was gentle with her approach. During the second visit, you have to watch a 45 minute informational video on chiro which goes to show how much she cares about educating clients/patients. Westboro is great neighborhood too. The secretaries are great too and welcoming. They offer stroller locks as you can not enter inside with them. I didnt meet anyone else from the team but it is a very large team with different areas of expertise. They offer email receipts too and if not mistaken email appointment reminders. The only issue I would say is parking as it is a very busy place. There is underground parking for a fee or you can park on the street which can sometimes be too full. There is also a other local stores and Shoppers near by. read more

The chiropractic care is good, if you are fortunate enough to snag an appointment. I am accustomed to a clinic in Toronto where, if one chiropractor was busy, I could see either of the other two. This is not the case with Back In Balance. I was told on several occasions that since the chiropractor I was registered with did not have any availability for the next few days I'd have to wait until the following week!!! When I asked about seeing any of the other chiropractors at the clnic they said this was not possible. I finally gave up on the place. read more
