I first knew Nicole Ramien, RMT from taking her continuing education courses of: " Barefoot Basic" in Nov. 2013. Although the same techniques have been practiced by thousands of massage therapists in U.S.A., Nicole is the first and only certified AOBT instructor in Canada. Because of her effort, the techniques were approved by CMTO and launched in Ontario in the spring of 2013. Although being a female and small (155 cm) RMT myself, focus of practice has always been treating pain & aches which involves mainly deep tissue work. So I was always learning and searching for courses that could teach other techniques to utilize therapists body weight/gravity, and leverage other body parts instead of small joints like: fingers, thumbs and wrists. It is true that most RMT's therapeutic career do not last long. And the main reason is from muscles and joints repetitive injuries or burn-out. I am very picky when it comes to massages. I often have lower back pain because of sitting long ours at work and sore muscles because of intense fitness training. I've had treatments from many RMTs in Toronto and elsewhere. While some were very good, none were as good as those I've received from Nicole Ramien. By good I mean professional, thorough, careful and caring. Perhaps that's due to her understanding of physiology as a result of her medical background in nursing and naturopathy. Until I tried an Ashiatsu massage from Nicole I couldn't understand how a person's feet could be as sensitive and versatile as their hands. It was a revelation! Nicole's soft, warm feet provide the long, smooth, deep strokes that makes this massage so effective. The first time I had an Ashiatsu massage I couldn't even tell what part of her feet were touching my body! But I did realize right away that the treatment is great at breaking up the knots in my back and shoulders and relaxing tense muscles everywhere. i'm a massage junkie, and have had many types and styles of massage around the world. Nicole's Ashiatsu method is rare and so amazingly effective.
