I live at The Villages in Evergreen. Hartmut does the introductory demonstrations before residents are allowed to use our gym, so I had a nodding relationship with him. My husband retired last year, and although he's a very good pickleball player; quick on the court and a solid performer, he is overweight and has a gut on him.
He told me he wanted to lose the weight and get into shape, so I contacted Hartmut. Great decision! I go along when they meet, so I can video the exercises and take notes. I believe it's worth working out with a trainer to start so you learn to use the equipment properly, and without injuring yourself.
In the past, I've worked with four other trainers myself. I am extremely impressed with Hartmut. Some trainers just give you exercises and walk you through them. Hartmut listened to his goals, questioned him closely about any past injuries/surgeries, and really tailored everything to his needs.
He goes into detailed explanations why you are doing the particular exercise, what the benefits are, and demonstrates each one. Due to conflicting schedules, they meet once every two weeks, which works out well as he works on a program for two weeks, then it is switched up. My husband hated the gym - pre-pandemic I got him to go for a short period of time, but hated it, and just walked slowly on the tredmill. Now he is diligent about going, and really enjoys the challenge. We both credit it to Hartmut and the way he works with him. Fat is starting to turn into muscle, and we're both very impressed with his knowledge, communication skills, and programs. read more
