This is the 2nd I've used Blackman Florist for Mother's Day. 1st time they gave my order to another customer, but were apologetic about that mistake and came up with an alternative which while it was frustrating, they at least provided an alternative. Was willing to give them or Tom the owner a 2nd chance this Mother's Day and the attached video is the best way to describe his level of service. For context, I placed 2 orders on May 1st with Tom for a delivery on May 8th. At that time, Tom said he would personally delivery my order on Friday, May 8th. May 8th came and went with no delivery and no calls from Tom to update me on things. I called 2 times on May 8th and got Tom on the phone, he apologized for the delay and assured me he would deliver everything before end of day. Nothing was delivered so called Tom on Saturday, May 9th and I was informed my delivery went to the wrong address. Tom was not too happy that I had the nerve to hold him accountable to his commitment of delivering the order. When he asked what I would like him to do, I said just make this situation right. His response was "I will FUCK YOU UP WHEN I COME OVER, which my wife and son both heard him say. I actually found it funny that his mistake got him so rattled. When he delivery my order, he came with the same temper and had another melt down which thankfully my Ring Camera was able to record. While Tom clearly is a jackass, this video is actually pretty funny. That said, STAY AWAY from Backman Florist and if you see Tom he easier gets rattled and his business is reflection of that. read more

They took it upon their own creative liberty to deliver the flowers on Friday 5/8 instead of Saturday 5/9. I'm sure I paid extra for having a Saturday delivery. I was already slightly annoyed that they weren't delivering Mother's Day. Not even a phone call to let me know. I ordered on Thursday 4/30 so not like I placed my order last minute. I'm not really all that impressed with the quality of the arrangement either. Photos attached (I did not take them my sister did so I apologize they're not that great) On top of this, they continued to send out promotional emails up until Thursday emphasizing that there was still time to order flowers for Mother's Day. So that's great. I wonder what last minute person ordered that got theirs delivered on the day of their choice. read more

Update: the owner (also the same person I worked with during my initial encounter) responded and said my review was untrue...but also didn't give any explanation as to why the delivered product was completely different than the one ordered and was wilted or explained what exactly I lied about?? The photos don't lie and neither did I. My experience was and still is awful, and I still never received a call back from the company. This florist does not know how to treat customers who are investing their money and trust in the skills of the employees. I was never offered an apology or anything from this florist. read more

Terrible customer service. I had scheduled flowers delivery for my first Valentine's day in the US. I've been dating my girlfriend for almost a year, so it was also our first Valentine's day together. Because of our busy schedule, I left instructions to leave the flowers at the door, as I knew I would be arriving home mid-day. The instructions were ignored, they didn't deliver the flowers. I tried calling on Valetine's day at night, but they were closed. They didn't contact me for the next 5 days, although I left a voicemail on Valentine's day questioning if they would be delivered. I contacted them by email requesting a full refund and telling them that my girlfriend didn't get flowers on our first Valentine's day (in other words, they ruined Valentine's day for me). I received an email back stating that they attempted delivery twice and they would refund me for the flowers but not the delivery fee. They didn't apologize, they didn't want to assume that they clearly ignored / didn't read my instructions to leave the flowers at the door, they didn't even attempt to keep me as customer. Furthermore, in a situation like that they said they would refund me and not refunding the delivery fee? Honestly, it is not even about the amount, but the attitude and the principle involved. I would not recommend this to anyone I know and I of course will never use them again. I would give 0 stars, but the system does not permit so I have to go with 1. read more

I find it so amazing that every person who has complaint about Tom co owner at this shop, Tom comes back with remarks that are very unprofessional! He always says the customer is rude, or a liar even a pychobabble!!! And some how he finds fault with anyone who has a complaint. I place an item in the cart and realized that I didn't have my credit card information with me. I closed out the page and two day's later went back to Beckman Florist site, looked around and found something else that I liked better. Placed the item in the cart. There wasn't anything but the ONE ITEM in the cart, proceeded with my order. Put all my information in and where it was going. My friend called to thank me for the beautiful basket. . Then two days later she called again saying she received another basket.she said this has to be a mistake, I wouldn't be sending her two baskets. I immediately called the shop and asked to speak with a manager. The man that answered the said this Tom I can help you.I explained what happened and that I didn't put my credit card information in on the first order.. He said I will check the computer and get back to you. I called at 10:30 am I knew they closed at 2 on Christmas, surely it doesn't take 3 1)2 hours to pull my name up on computer. Needless to say I had to call him back the day after Christmas.and wouldn't you know it was Mr Tom answering my call. He insisted that I placed both orders to the same person , went off saying things like I know everyone thinks we are just Derry dummies. My mouth just fell open in disbelief. Am I really hearing this man,this Co owner talk in this manner. He also said I was trying to flogg him. You have got to be kidding me. He basically called me a liar and I said it was not going to end here. As I'm saying have a good day he slammed the phone down on me. Such true professionalism Tom. It is you who sounds like a pychobabble. How anyone can buy from the shop is just so unbelievable to me. In Tom's mind he is always right and the customer is a liar and rude. I must admit that I did see some positive reviews, but the have to be local returning customers. I send my friend flowers, or gift baskets for different occasions. I'll never order from Bachman's Florist in Derry, again. I ordered a DELUXE Bouquet, for my friend of 17 year's Memorial Service. Arrived at the Service to see an embarrassing, skimpy item, not even a bow. NOT "exactly as you see it online", as was promised, by Jeff. I called the next morning, and spoke to a man who said he'd "been running the place for years, must've looked good to them, who made it". He said the bow was at the discretion of the person doing the arrangement...THEN WHY WOULD YOU POST IT ONLINE, AND TELL ME YOU WILL MAKE AND DELIVER EXACTLY WHAT I'M LOOKING AT AND ORDERING?? Ordered flowers from this shop and it's been nothing but trouble. Was sending my Mother flowers, ordering in advance, and picked out a selection that would of been perfect but instead the TOTALLY wrong flowers were sent. Now, I totally get mistakes. When I found out and received the picture of my moms flowers my jaw dropped because it was what we ordered, it was in a glass vase instead of a basket (which we picked for a safety purpose for my mother). The man on the phone offered no apologies. He stated well we are busy and I won't have time to get them redelivered. I'll investigate. That was last Saturday. On Tuesday someone responds to one of my messages and says that their florist made a mistake and would only offer me partial refund. That what they made for her was one of their top sellers. I explained that id like a full refund after all this mess (an apology over it couldn't hurt). Since Tuesday it's been radio silent. No ones answered my emails/messages. Update: while still no apology or effort for a week occurred, I received a response from a week old email saying they needed some info to track it back to the order, and finally received the refund. read more

Went on the website, selected and purchased a planter arrangement for a sympathy gift. The recipient sent me a photo of the planter in a text to say thank you. The planter was NOT the one selected; both the basket and the plants inside were different than what was purchased. When I called Backmann, the male who answered said he would speak to the driver about the wrong delivery. I explained that the card was correct so the problem was likely in the assembly rather than the delivery. He repeated he would call back after speaking with the driver. Still waiting for the phone to ring. So much for buying local. read more

The arrangement I ordered on the website looks nothing like the arrangement my mother received. I called and talked to Mary to tell her I was unhappy with the delivery. She stated that the website pushes all of the flowers to the front so the photo doesn't always look like the product and agreed with me when I said that was deceiving. The only way to refund my purchase was to bring the arrangement back to the shop. I live several states away from my mother and I will not ask her to bring her own birthday present back. On top of that Mary asked me to make sure that its covered because it's cold outside and she doesn't want dead flowers back. I'm very disappointed in the overall quality and amount of flowers in this arrangement. I do not feel like $50 is a fair price for what my mother received. read more

I ordered a Christmas arrangement for my wife at work. Looked so skimpy compared to what is in the picture on the website. Told me they push all the flowers to the front so it looks full. If they are going to do that ,then explain that below the picture on the site. Will never order from them again. Very disappointed. My organization called ahead of time to order our arrangement. We explained that we had an employee who was celebrating 25 years of service with us and we had a surprise event at 10:30 am for her and would need the flowers by no later than 10:15. They said this would be no problem at all. 10:34 rolls around and they still haven't arrived. We call them and the person who answered the phone didn't apologize and just said they were in the truck and would be there shortly. The flowers didn't arrive until almost 11, so the surprise event was over at this point. The delivery man was rude, didn't make eye contact, left the flowers at reception and just walked out. Mary was a little disorganized but that's the only bad thing I have to say. I honestly can't blame her because we met in the middle of prom season and the beginning of wedding season. She really worked with me to get what I wanted and I could tell she is passionate about her job. I told her I wanted to stick to a strict budget and I got flowers for everyone in my bridal party and parents for what I believe to be is a very fair price. I live in another state and called Backmann Florist because I was interested in supporting someone local. They sent the completely wrong bouquet I ordered and smaller than the one I asked to be sent. I know this because in the thank you the recipient sent out, they sent some pictures. I forwarded them to Backmanns and asked them to correct this mistake. They did not exchange them but sent a delivery guy to get the flowers back to fix them. The owner refused to address the problem, lied to the recipient when they called confused about why there was a delivery guy there to pick up the flowers that were sent. When I called back to again reconcile the mistake, he was sarcastic and said he was "done" and that I had beat this into the ground." (I hadn't at all - just asked him to exchange the flowers or kindly pick them up and refund my money. He said no way. When I did inform him we would make a public review (yelp, twitter) of this unpleasant incident, he called me an a#%$hole and hung up on me. I am 46, a mother of six and a school teacher who just wanted flowers sent to a relative for Easter Tom the owner is abusive, dishonest, and has no interest in maintaining any customer service. No doubt he may respond to this but this was a horrible experience and turned something joyful into something stressful. read more
