This company was dispatched through my insurance, and instead of helping us during an emergency, they attempted to extort an additional $300 on top of what my insurance had already approved. It was the middle of the night, I had my three children with me, and I made it clear how vulnerable we were. They had us waiting over two hours in the middle of nowhere, then said it would be another hour and a half before the driver could bring the "tools" from his house to fix our truck--for that extra $300. Rather than showing compassion, the driver was pushy and persistent, repeatedly pressuring me to agree to the additional charge. It felt like he was using my situation against me, assuming I'd say yes because I was stranded in the middle of the night with my children. Thankfully, I trusted my instincts and refused. Fortunately, some incredible state troopers stepped in, treated us with kindness and respect, and helped us find another tow truck. I also gave them this company's information so they would be aware of what had occurred. No family should ever be treated this way during a roadside emergency. I've reported this incident to my insurance company and will also be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. If this is how they treat families in crisis, I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere..

Mortally afraid and running on pure adrenaline, I did the unthinkable. I simply opened my yelp app and found A1 repair by filtering hours open and proximity to our location. Even now as I recall the event, I am shocked at how rational I was behaving under such extenuating circumstances. But I digress. The time was was 7:55 pm on a Friday night. We were 13 minutes away. Yelp indicated A1 closed at 8 PM. We weren't gonna make it. We were going to be stranded on a desert highway with nothing but sasquatch and axe murdered to keep us company at night. While us men were busy occupying ourselves with how we were going to fight off mythical creatures at night, suddenly, our female in the car did the impossible: she called Jasen, the friendly service technician, to see if he wouldn't mind staying open for another ten minutes, due to our obviously dire needs. Generously and professionally, he agreed and promptly help us to diagnose our check engine light, which turned out to be only a minor thing and nothing that couldn't wait til the next service appointment at the dealership. It was Saturday evening when we pulled into the gas station where this auto repair shop is located. Alex is the mechanic we met, and he was super nice. Told us how much it would cost to check the tire, then patch it if needed. So he checked, found a nail, did a patch, and we were done within 20 minutes or so.
