Came here for a team event and found the staff accommodating for all the changes we had to our original reservation. Instructors were knowledgeable and helped us throw the axe in various ways. Would just say that since we had a big group I would've preferred having more lanes because just having two lanes we didn't get to throw the axe as often. read more

I am giving this a 5-star, because for me this was an experience outside my comfort zone - this is not something I would normally sign up for. There are ways to get excersize, and then there's crazy! And then we needed to sign these waivers, and that only scared me even more! Good thing we got there early; gave me a chance to warm up to the idea. And we had a great turnout! Before starting, we had training and then a demonstration. You don't even need special equipment or skill. Think "Wii", but live instead of on TV. Ok you can develop the skill, because let me tell you: this is harder than it looks! I tried about a dozen times, and only hit the target once! What a proud moment! Some people are already really good (way to go, Fauve!) I never thought of the Lumberjack look, but a couple of people did ;-) When we entered, I wondered why you could smell lumber. They must go through a lot of wood here! They have to reset the targets for every time they have an event. You should see how chipped the targets got. The room looks like it may have been originally built as a garage - it's a wide open space with not a whole lot of seating. There were 3 bays set up - 2 with targets and the centre one with stools and a couple of counters that ran along the chain link fences that divided the bays. We were safe enough. What a wicked place! We were there yesterday for an event - BF even joined me for the event! First of all - the coaches! Holy guacamole! Wicked chicks! I was kind of expecting to have some burly dudes with beards wearing plaid...these ladies made us all feel so comfortable and pretty bad ax. haha Always sign the waiver and follow the rules!!! *if Evelyn is reading this: your pink manicure was gorg! Coach Evelyn was the greatest instructor, and Coach Stroker showed me some nifty new ways to throw the big ax! Side note: Stroker makes her own costumes! Given the large number of us, we all managed to wield quite a few axes. The coaches were there to count us down and give us helpful pointers after each throw. With two throwing cages - each with two targets and another "cage" for spectators and snacks! Definitely will be returning for some more Bad Axe Throwing! read more

I was here yesterday for a Yelp Event and had a great time. They closed down the place for us so we had it all to ourselves. First we had to sign some waivers, pretty much saying that if we get injured or die neither we nor our kin would sue them, lol. I was a bit nervous, especially after seeing the staff sharpening the axes, haha. Then we met our coaches, Evelyn and Stroker. They taught us how to throw the axes and how to be safe about it. Then we got to throw axes at one of the four targets. I was terrible at it and none of my axes were even sticking to the wall, let alone hitting the targets. Stroker gave me good advice saying that I was hesitating during the throw and I just needed to follow through in one swoop. After I took this advice I got better and even managed to get my axe in the middle of the target once and on one of the 10 point circles once!! Woo hoo! The place is in an industrial part of town and looks like a warehouse. There are 3 areas separated by chain link fences: 2 throwing areas with 2 targets each, and one area with stools in between the throwing areas, so you can sit and eat and watch others throw. They don't sell food but you can bring your own. There are really cool murals on the walls. There's also one unisex bathroom. I think that this would be a really cool place to have a birthday party, a stag and doe, etc. They have a parking lot with free parking. They also have free WiFi (as you have to sign the waiver online). read more

Let's go throw some REALLY sharp axes at a target. Some of you will be already out the door before the words leave my mouth. This review is for those with the sceptical look on their face, the "are you insane?" reactions, or those people who may seem that this is not an activity that might interest them. I had the opportunity to throw some Bad Axes with a group of people comprised of all of the above categories. It winds up that throwing axes is fun. Not only for the people bought in a the very thought of it but also the people who were initially uncertain. The coaches are super fun and take you through the basics and provide a number of tips to improve your skills. There is something deeply satisfying about the sound of your axe biting hold into the wooden wall. Thanks Bad Axes Throwing that was a fun evening. read more

A good sized group of about 30 or so met up here for a Yelp event. They closed down the place for us so we had the place to ourselves. They have 4 different target areas so even with that large of a group it didn't take long to cycle through the group. I imagine with bookings you'd have less people per target and get even more throws in. They are located in an industrial park at the back end of the building, last door on the left. There is a fair bit of parking, but not sure how it would be with the other businesses open at the same time. They have free WiFi and you have to sign your life away via an online waiver before you get started. Everyone used their phones but I assume they must have some paper forms for the less technically civilized. Both employees were great. After some brief instructions they let us take a crack at throwing the axes. They kept a watchful eye over us making sure we never put ourselves in harms way. I had to be scolded a time or two and it was a good natured ribbing. It was a lot of fun and harder than expected. It takes a fair amount of trial and error to get the distance right. We got to try throwing the axes two handed, one handed, underhand(like a ninja) and even two at a time. But the end of the night most people had improved substantially so it does get a lot easier with practise. So keep at it if your first toss or two is a bit discouraging. Overall it was a great time had by all and if you're considering tossing around some sharp objects don't hesitate to give Bad Axes a shot. read more

We were a group of 10. The teacher , Allana was great! She explained all the rules, tips etc clearly and with enthusiasm. She always was aware of what was going on. She had our full attention, which is important while dealing with SHARP objects, and alcohol. I enjoyed the no nonsense approach. You may have fun, but not while overly intoxicated. The games we played were fun, not overly competitive. It kept our attention. A few different games would be good. You can byob and byo food. They keep it simple. It's nice. Eating your own food ensures your always on task , not sitting down eating, wasting time/ wasting your turn. It's a small place - the large group next to us was quite loud. That was the only downside. Not much "privacy". Limited washrooms, nothing fancy but it does the job. Beautiful artwork on the walls. They kept it simple and not fancy. They focus on the customer and customer experience instead of fancy decorations or furniture. It works well for awesome down to earth people :) read more

Went here yesterday for an elite event and I HIGHLY recommend it! Who knew ax throwing could be so much fun? It is pretty difficult also but I got the hang of it and even got a bulls-eye! The coaches are fantastic - shout out to coach Evelyn who gave me a lot of great tips and helped me bring out my inner beast at ax throwing! This is a great place to go with groups or could be a fun date idea (just make sure your date is adventurous and doesn't think you are trying to chop their head off). Also another plus is noone even came close to being hurt from an axe, so it is very safe - you just might hurt yourself if you try and throw it too hard. Definitely something worth trying out for sure! read more

I had a fun time with a ragtag bunch of neewbie axe throwers on my first visit to Bad Axe Throwing! I was part of Team Axehole and we, figuratively, hacked and slashed our way to number #1! Keep in mind, it's really not as easy as it looks. I feel like I wasted a lot of camping trips by not throwing the ol'hatchet around. As for tips: keep your eye on the prize with a good stance, some learning curve in figuring out how much further back you should stand, and keeping your thumbs positioned to get a nice straight axe throw to get the axe to stick. It'll take a few wacks so don't get discouraged. Had a bit of trouble with the GPS in finding the place, but we walked around the building. read more

Fun was had by everyone. Alana, our coach/trainer was great and very helpful. BYOB was not an option because there has been a recent change in the Ontario Legislation regarding BYOB for all Axe Throwing Companies within Ontario. Alcoholic beverages were not allowed and we were very surprise and disappointed. What we did not understand was that the team playing beside us had brought alcoholic beverages and were allowed to drink them?????? Anyways, we fully enjoyed our evening and we will be back! read more
