This was a last-minute decision while we were visiting Rochester. The establishment was a small nondescript place downtown, but it turned into a really fun evening. My daughter and I put in a reservation, and we're treated well when we showed up. We were there for fun and they understood that. They explained the rules, set us up on our area, and let us have fun - which we did! My daughter and I enjoyed ourselves and even made some nice hits by the end. It was fun overall. Definitely the coolest and most interesting new place in Rochester! Where else can you throw axes in public ... and get cheered for it ?!! Oh that's right now where but here. I wanted to surprise my husband with the gift of an experience for Valentine's Day. I was researching and came across the idea of throwing weapons! Neither of us had done it before so I settled upon Bad Axe Throwing. I called ahead about 4 days to inquire about reservations. Since it was just the two of us, we couldn't reserve but could just go during their scheduled walk in times. We got there right on the dot at our scheduled time in the afternoon. When we entered, we filled out the online waiver, then we were walked back to ax throwing station #5 by a friendly host. He showed us the proper technique on how to hold, step, and throw. Also how to remove the ax from the wall. There weren't a ton of people, of that I was thankful (Covid) and we were really spaced out. We ended up having a ball. We were horrible in the beginning, but by the end of our hour, we were able to stick each throw and were even working on precision. Would totally go back! read more

This was such a fun experience especially since it was completely random for my friend and I when we were just driving in Rochester with nothing to do and saw the sign glowing in the dark. We did a walk in as there was availability and the location manager, Danny, was so funny and I absolutely loved his humor. He made the whole experience a 10/10! read more

When the sports of rednecks become hip, places like Bad Axe pop up. I ain't mad about it though, because it was super fun--red necks know what's up. I played during their open house week, and decided to join the league because it was fun/something different to try out. The coaches are patient, and take their time to get people confident enough to keep trying until they have more control over their throws. You can rent throwing lanes with your family and friends for $24 an hour per person, with different rates for corporate parties, etc. They also have beer. :) read more

My favorite place to go! This isn't just for guys to throw axes!! Ladies, you can do this too! I went here once with one of my good friends and then a few weeks later I came back for my bachelorette party. The staff is really nice and they show you how to throw an axe and make sure you feel comfortable throwing on your own. I usually don't play for points, it's just fun to throw axes and to see if I can get it to stick on the wall. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON LEAGUE HERE! Thankfully Rochester has more than one axe throwing location, so please spend your money on a competitive location, where the league is competent. When I first joined the spring league I was very excited and looked forward to learning how to throw, but I quickly realized everything I wanted to learn I would have to teach myself or research on the World Axe Throwing League's (WATL) website on my own. I am very disappointed in the lack of organization and the miscommunication between the coaches and the league members. I was anticipating my investment into a league to be rewarding, but unfortunately it ended up being frustrating. The staff is misinformed and unaware of the WATL rules. This miscommunication affected all league members and resulted in confusion. I really enjoyed axe throwing and the interaction between the members themselves, but sadly the coaches' unfamiliarity with the league and lack of communication forces me to not invest in another league at Bad Axe Throwing. read more

Loved the experience. Sticking the axe is really satisfying! Was there for a party and the coach was great and kept everyone engaged. I would def go throw axes again. I was disappointed in beverage selection. Don't advertise that you offer a large selection of craft beers and only supply genny light, corona light and labatts light...newsflash, there's nothing craft about them. Must TRY!!! Me and my wife walked in randomly on a fluke and had an AWESOME time!! Our coach Stefan was FANTASTIC!! He showed us how to properly throw and was full of energy!! Only negative I'd say is the location, we had to really look for the building. read more
