DO NOT EAT HERE! If I could give this place zero stars I would…read more My spouse and I walked by and it looked like a lovely place to have a beer and maybe have lunch. The server asked if it was for drinks or food, not fully having decided we said drinks and food. We sat down and everything was great, we ordered their piazza Bianca a bottle of sparkling water and a beer. Everything was great, until the server asked us if we wanted to order meals. We had looked at the menu and decided that we would have a few drinks and nothing else. The server was upset, he told us we each had to order one meal. And accused us of trying to get free bread and olive oil. He said if I would have known you were only getting drinks I would have told you we are closed! He insisted we must order meals or his manager would be upset. I asked to speak to the manager, as we where not going to eat anything else on the menu. The server kept insisting we order, that we where being rude by not ordering food. I apologized and said we were not hungry and that we would be happy to pay for the bread and olive oil. We told him we where not trying to get anything free, and happy to pay for anything we ate and drank. The manager was never called to our table and we were given the check after much argument from the server. It was the worst experience I have had in a restaurant while traveling abroad. Please, save yourself and argument and the headache. DO NOT STOP HERE!

We absolutely loved wandering along the waterfront, looking at all the bright wooden boats, and taking in the laid-back, authentic vibe. It has some of the best seafood restaurants right on the water and feels so much more peaceful and local than the main port.

This review is for the marina, as the Yelp description says this is filed under "marinas, beaches."…read more Contrary to the name, Marina Grande isn't actually as big as Marina Piccola, the main port of Sorrento. The ferries and large boats go to Marina Piccola. Marina Grande is where we met our captain for our boat tour to the Amalfi Coast and where a lot of other groups were launching from. The marina itself was easier to get to that I thought. The decline was gentle on our knees. The incline, heading back to our Airbnb, is actually quite kinder than I thought while I was going down and it wasn't too hard for someone like me, who isn't fit at all, to make it. Add, being in the sun, on a boat all day and I'd say it was almost easy, so no worries if you have any. There are stunning views from this marina and quite a few restaurants and bars to hang out at. The best part for me was the metal dock that you can walk out onto and see Marina Piccola. You can also look down into the crystal clear water. Just lovely!

(Even the uphill walk from the beach was not difficult.) AMBIANCE: 4.0. Outside covered tables. Our table was on the edge next to the water; was very nice to hear the lapping waves and to watch the evening sky turn from pink to black as the sun set. The view is partially blocked by an adjoining wharf on top of which is a restaurant. FOOD: 4.5. Very good food, and a good selection of wines. - Risotto seafood: 5.0. Excellent. - Fish of the day: 4.0. Very nicely prepared and presented. Two gentlemen showed us the fresh fish resting on ice, explaining the qualities of the flesh of each; we shared one fish with fatty white flesh. During the final stage of preparation an older gentlemen separated the meat from the bone within our view, distributing it across two plates. - Salad: 4.5. - Lemon dessert: 4.5 - il polpo (octopus) appetizer: 4.0. - Wine: 4.0. Recommended by our server. We finished with 2 different types of lemoncello. SERVICE: 4.5. The waiter was professional and prompt. He finally smiled when my wife pointed at her plate during one of his visits and insisted with wide eyes: "This is really good!". Eyes sparkling, he replied "I believe you!"

The seafood risotto was recommended by our server but I thought it was too salty and the risotto was very aldente. We ordered fish of the day grilled. The fish had no flavor. The lemon the sauce was the only flavor on the plate. Dessert was ok but also took 20 minutes to arrive. For 300 euros I was expecting way better food and service. Don't waste your money here. Go somewhere else. There was no water view to speak of here. Felt I wasted my money on this experience.
