Appleby's is one of Middleton's oldest businesses which isn't part of a chain, it was here long…read morebefore the big chains came into Middleton such as Costa, Sports Direct, KFC and Tesco's newly built store. It is a deli, quite a small place but still they sell some fruit and vegetables, meats, drinks and sandwiches. With a Subway confirmed to be opening in Middleton soon, this place sure has more competition, and this time in one of their key areas, but I'm sure they'll continue thriving, infact it is interesting I write this review now, to be able to look back and compare when Subway is open to see how they have changed to complete better, with fierce, big name competition just a few stores down, in the old Santander building next to The Roebuck. Now back to Appleby's, it is a small building on the corner of Wood Street and Middleton Gardens, next to Amigo's and opposite Simon's Café and Middleton Computers. There is no outdoor or indoor seating, but this isn't your typical place for that. The main services and food Appleby's provide are fruit and vegetables, a small yet decent selection paid for by weight, as well as some cooked meats, sandwiches and a poor selection of drinks, mainly fizzy cans. The staff here are okay, yet don't really stand out but in a way this place could be so much better and more profitable, such as providing a wider range of foods to eat, and drinks and maybe adding a few tables for diners to eat in, as well as slightly refurbishing it inside, as in a way, it just feels outdated and like it hasn't been updated for a very long time, which also lets this place down as for now I sadly can't warrant awarding Appleby's with anything over 2 stars.

I now only shop at appleby's as the products are so fresh and very tasty. I now have to buy for my…read moredaughter who lives in Barnsley and my two grandaughters. Inside, the views are quite nice as it is mostly glass, however, the area in between the seating and counter, perhaps closer to the counter seemed a little dirty and it felt like it was left behind when this place was being built, so isn't as nice as other parts of the building. The staff didn't seem too helpful when I asked about their gluten free options, they basically gave me a reluctant and easy answer that they couldn't offer anything due to the cross-contamination risk, I eventually asked if they would make me a jacket potato and the server also was reluctant and hesitant with the response, she didn't seem sure, she just said "yes". This was disappointing and didn't fill me with faith eating here. The board at the counter which shows Parliament is quite cool, trying to link into the name of Parliament Square. I don't feel the response, confidence, helpfulness and friendliness of staff was good enough, and neither was the overall selection, some parts of the store just felt not as nice/new as they should, and sadly I'm struggling to justify anything other than a single one star for Parliament Square Cafe & Deli in Oldham.

Following some consideration, I would like to give this Tesco a more respectable 2 star rating. I…read morewould like to seperate why in a list of Pros and Cons Pros: - This is a big store which includes a click and collect desk as well as customer service, which you will normally see in stores but also a salon and a Timpson. - Very big clothing department - Good size cafe and close to a Starbucks - It has a manned petrol station - Location is quite good being on a main road, easy access from Rochdale and Middleton city centre - Good size Cons: - Shape is quite unusual hence making it hard to navigate for those who rarely visit - Poor range of Starbucks Iced drinks compared to other stores, including Tesco in Middleton - Poor Mobile signal in this area and little to no signal in the Car Park - 2 minute drive away from an ASDA, where prices are 10 percent cheaper or money back - Quite a few items were not here upon my visit, including Microwavable chips, supermarkets normally stock good amounts of both types but it seemed they had sold out. - Most of the items were spaced out, for example they was little to no Seabrook Crisps on the crisp isle and they were just dotted around, they were supposed to be in those places as they were labels and anything, I guess they presume this with other things too hence making it more confusing, but don't hold me to that. - Store layout in general, not very nice compared to other stores like Middleton Overall, this store deserves 2 stars because it does not make the most of it being a larger store with stock of certain items and the layout is not the easiest on the eye and quite confusing, the lack of a wifi signal also adds to this. I wouldn't say this is a Tesco to avoid at all costs anymore but it really isn't worth going out of your way too, especially with an Asda being minutes away in a car, where they guarantee to be 10 percent cheaper or your money back, Tesco just guarantee to be cheaper and something prints off at tills.

This is a larger Tesco store and I can say that it offers a wide range of products (especially as I…read morecan compare this to the one where I live now). For example, in the children's clothes section, there is a wide selection of designs and sizes. They have a fresh fish, meat, cooked meat and cooked chicken counter. They also have an instore bakery and their fresh french bread is gorgeous. They also sell the usual fresh fruit and vegetables and groceries. The manager is often present overseeing the smooth running of the store. The checkout staff are friendly and always offer to pack. There is also a petrol station on site. The car park is quite big and the store is located in a central area, just off the motorway. A bus stops at the side of the store also.
