Ever since I can remember we've come to the temple to start our new year with humble and the calm of visiting the temple along with the fireworks that's been the tradition here in Hawai'i though this year I did have different plans as I took the kindness of Yelp friends of Suri S and Steve S to view the fireworks along with dinner and a lovely evening planned. With that going the morning after since I had the day off I decided not to slack off and still visit the temple for blessing only to see that there wasn't the priest as many flocked over and gave their donations and dropped off the old omamori ring the bell and made their prayers on their own was something that I didn't expect. Parking is the biggest issues here is the reason that I don't usually come here as there is a drop off area and you park at Farrington but since we did have a disable parking I was able to bring mom and do a quick glance around which was really nice. There were two area to do your prayers while the nearby building held the other various options to have a sip of sake, various omamori with description for each amulet and what it represents is a great detail for those that needs further representation was quite impressive. Mom enjoyed herself and was delighted of this location as it has restrooms as well as we start 2025 with a positive vibe and at peace for the visit. Thank you!

As this shrine dresses up for the occasion many gather here for various reasons whether it's to pray for good fortune, health and happiness, you start with a purification wash first to then make your way up to right the priests and wring the giant bell to follow with the ritual for your offering and prayer which they will help you and once done make your way down for your amazake and purchase your omamori after you rid of your previous years charms. I sometimes help with the piano and organ performances at weddings, so I think there are many opportunities to go to church. I have performed in various types of churches, but this church, which is simple in appearance, is by no means glamorous, but it was a dignified and quaint building with a sense of history. The very spacious interior of the church has a high ceiling, and I naturally felt a sense of positive "qi". After all, is the power flowing throughout this land flowing everywhere? On the same premises as the church, there was a nursery school or a room that looked like a kindergarten, and small children were sitting in a circle listening to the teacher's story. I couldn't help but smile. The lush green promenade, and the backyard behind the church that extends all the way to the stream, creates a very beautiful landscape. Are there homes nearby? It's quiet, but I can also feel the signs of people. In other words, this church can be said to be a church rooted in the local area that has a deep relationship with the residents. According to the wedding agent, it is common for parents, and then the second generation, to hold their weddings here. The wedding agent said that the number of wedding applicants from Japan has gradually increased. A wedding ceremony at a church located in Hawaii's famous power spot will make the biggest event of your life the best. In addition to weddings, I think it's a good idea to test yourself to find out how much healing energy you can actually feel in this church. We were the only patrons, but I enjoyed the serenity and the sound of heavy rainfall. Our group paid our respects, doing a silent offering, 2 bows, 4 claps, prayer, and a final bow. This is different from the typical nirei-nihakushu-ichirei "2 bows-2 claps-1 bow", therefore take care to note each shrines prayer customs! The shrine attendant was very helpful in explaining the different protection charms for sale and also explained the yakudoshi "years of calamity" concept to us. If you like to visit a Shinto shrine in Hawaii, Daijingu Temple of Hawaii was a beautiful place. Highly recommend!
