New year...new location…read more.. Ever since I can remember we've come to the temple to start our new year with humble and the calm of visiting the temple along with the fireworks that's been the tradition here in Hawai'i though this year I did have different plans as I took the kindness of Yelp friends of Suri S and Steve S to view the fireworks along with dinner and a lovely evening planned. With that going the morning after since I had the day off I decided not to slack off and still visit the temple for blessing only to see that there wasn't the priest as many flocked over and gave their donations and dropped off the old omamori ring the bell and made their prayers on their own was something that I didn't expect. Parking is the biggest issues here is the reason that I don't usually come here as there is a drop off area and you park at Farrington but since we did have a disable parking I was able to bring mom and do a quick glance around which was really nice. There were two area to do your prayers while the nearby building held the other various options to have a sip of sake, various omamori with description for each amulet and what it represents is a great detail for those that needs further representation was quite impressive. Mom enjoyed herself and was delighted of this location as it has restrooms as well as we start 2025 with a positive vibe and at peace for the visit. Thank you!

I shared this on my instagram but then my daughter suggested I share it here..thank you thank you…read morethank you God for loving me so. Quite some time ago, Sandals had a guest pastor visiting from Hawaii. Pastor Wayne shared a message that coincided with his book, Divine Mentor, and I remember leaving that day feeling incredibly blessed. Then, during a trip to Hawaii in 2022, I wanted to attend New Hope Church in Oahu. I drove all the way there... and then drove right past it because I was too scared to walk in alone. This year, I've been praying for courage. I've been asking God to help me do the things that stretch me, the things I don't always feel confident enough to do. Today, I finally walked through the doors of New Hope. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with so much kindness. They placed a shell lei around my neck, took the time to talk with me, and made me feel like I belonged. I couldn't help but tear up. It reminded me so much of what Sandals felt like 15 years ago, the warmth, the authenticity, the love, and the joy of being surrounded by people who genuinely reflect the heart of Jesus. God showed up in a mighty way. The first song alone was confirmation He knows me and my fears and blesses my willingness to walk through them and in these doors. I'm so thankful I didn't let fear win this time. God continues to show me that courage isn't about having no fear, it's about trusting Him enough to take the next step anyway. So much to be grateful for. Giving thanks to Him for it all. The good and the not so good. I know He has a plan. #gratitude #faith #courage #newhopeoahu

Candlelight Concert by Fever... Tribute to Michael…read moreJackson... My friend's birthday is the same day as Michael Jackson (August 29). I asked her if ahe wanted to attend this concert at St. Andrew's Cathedral and she agreed... especially because a String Quartet was playing! I got our tickets online and received email reminders and the tickets via QRcode. Parking after 6pm was free in metered street stalls nearby. Parking at St. Andrew's Cathedral had a fee. The unfortunate thing about this venue was that it has no air-conditioning. Each pew had some lauhala hand-held manual fans, but they were to be shared. I felt a very slight breeze from the cross ventilation of the open windows. The good thing about this historical venue was the acoustics. It also had beautiful architecture, stained glass windows, graceful arches, etc. The quartet played twelve songs: Bad Human Nature Rock With You Billie Jean Say Say Say We Are The World Smooth Criminal Heal The World Remember The Time Earth Song Thriller Beat It It was wonderful to hear familiar songs in a different way! The four gals shared humorous anecdotes about the songs; sometimes snapping their fingers; sometimes tapping on their instruments (becausethere were no percussion instruments); and sometimes singing out a phrase like, "Who's Bad!" The concert was very organized. The ushers and ticket scanners seem like they've all done their jobs before. I asked about the restroom... it's in the next building and down the hall. We went early to get the best seats in our Zone C. Some of the people who arrived after us had to sit behind pillars. The doors closed promptly on time. No late entrances. Thanks to the String Quartet for playing this Tribute to Michael Jackson for the first time in Hawaii! It was fabulous!

Members of The Kai'ulani Choir sang beautiful hymns throughout the service, and a loving Hula was performed to start off the evening's program. What a spiritual experience it was sitting in this church, looking around at the Altar and the stained glass windows, feeling the cool evening breeze flow through the sanctuary. Although I'm not a religious person, I would consider coming back for a Sunday Mass.
