The food was delicious and the atmosphere is incredibly inviting. It was my second time there and I will be going back again soon!

An easy 3.5 stars…read more Outgoing Ghulam the owner was gracious to me: without asking he likely recognized a first-time customer and offered the $9 beef donair for only $7. Great but simple marketing, he likely values what return business represents. But I was forewarned that it was good by an enthusiastic filipino months ago, and so finally checking it out confirmed at least two things: 1. The aftertaste of the nicely-spiced donair wrap is what it should be (in comparison to most, 4 stars). 2. My wife and I returned for a chicken breast kabob, chicken shawarma, and beef donair, all stomach-filling platters with Afghan flatbread, decent quality rice, homemade garlic and other sauces: although good, just not at all outstanding (3 stars). It's tough to survive in an area studded with so many different types of restaurants, but Ghulam has location going for him, and except for ViaCibo's pasta, The Rock's burgers, Watercress' pho, and Long's Szechuan Chinese, he's better than the rest. When a tasty wrap next strikes my fancy for a fast lunch, I sometimes will return here, especially when in contrast to the higher-priced lousy fare at Shawarma Knight down 14th Street. Go check it out, folks.

The service takes some time, it definitely isn't fast food. We ordered quite a bit of food; gyro, lamb, beef, as you can see in the photo. Price is about $13/pp. Food was just okay, nothing out of the ordinary. I felt it was a bit overpriced. A bit underwhelming but satisfactory as it was quite a bit of food.

Hers, veggie and sweet (coconut milk). They were both positively decadent. The sauces were rich and smooth, without a hint of the oil breaking. Lamb was tender and succulent, her veggies were a step past al dente, which is fine. Sides - 4/5 We were surprised to see options of rice or naan to attend the dish, so yea each opted for one. The rice was well cooked, sprinkled with saffron and some roasted caraway seeds. The naan was fine, though probably had some excess oils on it making it a notable greasier experience that I think I am used to. Still, delicious way to finish up the sauce. This is a great place we feel luck to have found on a trip and we surely would love to find work in Calgary if only to frequent this place for lunch and their great combos. I don't know if I'd travel the whole 1200 miles just to eat here again, but I would consider it.

Hands down the best beef seekh kabob and service outside of Lahore and London! Please don't let…read morehigher star ratings of other restaurants sway your decision; try Faisal and you won't regret the decision. We visited the restaurant a few nights ago for a dinner. We ordered the seekh kabob, Karahi Chicken with tandoori roti and naan, raita, and Chicken biryani. And wow, everything was delicious, just out of the world type of delicious!! After the dinner, we requested chai and kheer, and no surprise again, full of taste, every bite and sip reminded us of home (Pakistan), what impressed me most was that thr chai was served properly hot where its fully enjoyable! Loved everything, great experience! Also, there was just one person serving that night. All the tables were taken downstairs and a few upstairs as well. She was so organized and efficient, and she really made our visit just that much special! We really hope the restaurant fully recognizes and appreciates her excellent service. Enjoy Faisal Kabob Hut!

We came for lunch with our family, including three young children. Before ordering, I specifically…read moretold the server that the food for the children must not be spicy. The staff could also clearly see that we had small children with us. We ordered three platters. Two of the platters were combined together, and the quantity did not appear equivalent to two full separate platters. More importantly, all of the chicken came spicy despite my clear request. As a result, the children could not eat their meal. My seven-year-old was extremely hungry and tried eating some chicken while repeatedly drinking water because of how spicy it was. The younger children could essentially only eat some rice, which was also very dry. We then ordered an additional plate and gave the restaurant another opportunity, but that chicken was also spicy, so we returned it. What made the experience much worse was the response when I complained. Instead of apologizing or trying to resolve the problem, the staff became argumentative and defensive. I was told, "This is Pakistani cuisine; our food is spicy." I was then told that I could have ordered fries. When I explained that their own server had told us fries were unavailable, I was actually told that I should have taken my children to McDonald's. That response to a customer who had specifically requested non-spicy food for small children was completely inappropriate. I asked to speak with the owner or person responsible and was refused. They removed only the additional returned plate but still insisted that I pay for the children's platter even though it had not been prepared according to the request they accepted and the children could not eat it. We came to a restaurant expecting to feed our family. Instead, I left having to find somewhere else to feed my children, while still being required to pay for the meal. Mistakes can happen in any restaurant. What determines the quality of a business is how it handles the mistake. Unfortunately, instead of an apology and reasonable solution, we received arguing, blame and disrespect. There will not be a next visit.

I had a falafel platter which was dry, old and flavourless. The platter was mostly old rice and old potatoes. Hubby and daughter had beef donairs and described the meat as dry. The place has not been cleaned in a very long time and I think thats a direct reflection of how many F$&@S are given in the establishment. Won't be returning.

Came home exhausted, tired and hungry for some warm delicious comfort food. After a quick search for restaurants near home, we decided to order from the KING of Shawarma. Reviews seemed decent. 5 stars on FB and 4 stars on YELP. Figured, why not I'm new to Calgary and need to find some good shawarma and Mediterranean food. I order through Skip the Dishes. Food came fast. Took about 45 minutes. I specially requested for all sauces and dips to be on the side, since I've worked in the restaurant industry before I understand that food doesn't always travel well and in order to avoid soggy messy food made my request and even apologize for the inconvenience in advance. Food comes. I look at it and instantly become irritated. Everything is mixed together. And all the exact same shade of grey and brown. The skin was falling off the potatoes (and not in a good tasty way) the chicken was dry and flavourless. I can honestly say that neither mine or my roommates food was touched. Literally made me sick to my stomach looking at it. Whatever, ok things happen. I get it. I called the restaurant to complain about my order and to request either a refund or a new meal. I asked to speak to a manger, the person on the other line said he was and that he remembered packing my food. I told him it wasn't what I ordered, and that I wasn't happy. He was rude, arrogant and refused to take responsibility for the situation. He tried to blame skip the dishes for his poor work ethic. After about 3 minutes of talking to his fine outstanding young man it comes to my attention that he is in fact NOT a manger and that none are there to talk to me or deal with the situation. After all that talking, this person can't do a thing to help me. I tell him to talk to his manager and to call ME back. He agrees. Fast forward 30 minutes still no call. Nothing. So I call back. First call phone rings about 15 times then disconnects. Second call straight to voicemail. Third call he answers. Tells me the manger isn't there. I tell him I'll be by tomorrow to return this food. He shrugs off my concerns and lets me go. Well today, as much as I wanted to bring the food back and collect a refund, life got in the way and I needed to work. Still have yet to hear from a manager. I didn't even receive an apology or nothing. Wound up making freezer pizza for dinner, after only wanting shawarma from the king.
