Lunch special (11-3) 8.99, extra Naan bread and Butter Chicken ( we were very full after all this).
D. J.

We tried a few good restaurants of Indian/Pakistani food in the city. I was curious to try this one out with my significant other, because he is a huge fan of this cuisine - as am I. This place is not ambitious, simple decor and one would not expect food of this quality. The Butter Chicken and Tikka Masala were very tasty. The Naan bread is also very good, freshly made. My husband liked the Kebab - for me it was too spicy. We repeated the following day to try the lunch special ( 11 - 3 ) for 8.99. Very good and plentiful. The tray had rice, veggie dish, butter chicken, Naan bread and pakoras ( they were great). The service is OK, the servers came a few times to ask if we needed anything. I like the fact they give customers a carafe with water for free. Got to love that.

Garlic nan and egg rice

Was in the area and saw this place pop up in the nearby on Yelp so gave it a try. Located in a strip mall across from the Chapters, there is ample parking in front of the restaurant. I was confused by the exterior and almost thought it was take out and delivery only, but there are multiple chairs and tables inside if you wish to stay. There were only one table other than us, but the kitchen seemed extremely busy regardless, so I assume most people visit this place for take out and delivery. We were famished so we got one rice dish, garlic nan, and two curry dishes. We were worried it wouldn't be enough, but curry always seems to fill me more than I expect. I was sad that they didn't have anything similar to a coconut rice dish here so I opted for the egg rice which was basically a egg scrambled in rice. Surprisingly really good with curry! I also got the mango lassi and really enjoyed it. It was good but I wish it was served colder. Our bill was only 35$ (inc. tip) which was not bad at all for the amount of food we got (plus a drink!). Usually for the amount of food we got, at other places we easily pay over 50$. If you live in the area and they deliver, I would definitely give this place a try. Can't comment on the service for delivery but when we dined in, they were very pleasant. I took a star off because of my lukewarm lassi and the food did take a while to come out but I hope that's an indication that everything is prepared somewhat fresh.

a plate of food on a table

I went here with my mom and ordered a bbq platter and biryani. Both the items were really good, and reasonably priced. The platter had chicken tikka, beef tikka and seekh kabab and all of it was delicious. I was actually quite happy to find a halal restaurant in Calgary that has good food, decent & 'clean' sitting arrangement and good customer service. The owner was nice and did come to ask us how everything was. I will definitely be visiting Little Spice again and would recommend it to others.

This is my favourite restaurant for Indian food. A little hole in the wall... The service is friendly and fast. The food is very tasty. Price is great. I always order the lamb biryani. The lamb is tender and tasty. It's the best ever!

Chana masala (top) and tarka daal both with medium heat. Very flavourful and the spiciness was perfect.

All the usual favorites and expected sauces and the prices are clearly marked on the menu. Good service, but I could tell that the one woman who was serving needed a bit more help than just having one girl there to bus tables. She was running ragged but still managed to do so with a smile. I had the vegetable samosas to start. They were nice and spicy, served plenty hot with a small dish of dipping sauce. Right out of the fryer, I am sure. For my main, I chose the Lamb Rogan Josh, basmati rice, garlic naan bread and a dish of cucumber/carrot riata. The lamb had a deceptive heat to it that I didn't notice until the first couple of bites went down. By that point, it was a good thing that the riata was there to cool things off. The garlic naan had a TON of garlic on it and it was just the right amount of soft and crunchy. Domestic and North American beers on the beer menu plus the usual lot of Indian beers. I saw one guy drinking Stella, which makes absolutely no sense to me. Why not get a Kingfisher or a Cobra, dude? All told, my meal was $40 with tip. A little expensive for one person with a beer and a starter. Two people sharing the rice and the naan might be able to get in and out for less than $60.

Great service, friendly staff, and delicious food! As someone who adores Indian cuisine I am very…read morepleased whenever I get food from this location.

Let me tell you, this was the most favourite and talked about dish during and after. And believe me this was enough to serve 4 people a good portion, trying the three dipping sauces give it an excellent flavour, but try it by itself first! Also, ask for a knife, J know were are post COVID, this is one of those dishes that you tear off, though my wife cut her piece with a spoon, we got a knife after that. The food came quickly, and our additions and requests were handled quickly and efficiently by the staff. Now to look at it all the curries have the same sort of look you them, I assure you, each and everyone had a delicious and different flavour. Dining in Canada for over 20 years now, I have found that restaurants have reduced the heat on dishes, this is not so at The Rock Fort (IMHO). I did not order the Mango Lassi, but was told it was delicious. The Lamb was the spicy dish, the other couple are Asian, and they were enjoying the spice level of the lamb dish. The meats were tender, moist and delicious, the Naan was so good two more were ordered to help sop up the tasty sauces. The restaurant has tables and booths , both were clean and no issues were found. You can have a view of the kitchen to watch the chefs cook (glass partitioned). We look forward to revisiting this restaurant to try different Dosas and I really want to try their Kabobs. Try this if you have not been there, it is worth it!

I'll be honest, and admit that when I first heard about turducken, I was a little scared. It…read moreseemed ... well ... wrong to have so many animals stuffed into one big turkey. Thankfully, though, I got over that inital reaction and discovered just how wonderful, juicy, and tender this fantastic creation really is. Turduckens have always had to be pre-ordered at delis, or made painstakingly by hand. Well -- not anymore! The Original Turducken takes what was once a deli-exclusive gourmet meal and turns it into something accessible, and just as delicious, right from your local grocer's freezer. Available with two kinds of stuffing (Spicy Italian Sausage, which I love, and chicken apple sausage which is good too), I get my birds from the frozen food isle at CO-OP. After thawing them a few days, all I need to do is pop this turkey-looking beast into the oven, and cook it slow until the internal temperature is 165 degrees F. That's it -- no prep, no basting, no worry -- just cook it like it says to on the packaging. Then, once it's done, all I need to do is slice it like a loaf of bread and serve. Yes -- slice it like a loaf of bread. See, these birds come completely boneless (except for wings and drumsticks). So you're getting solid meat in the guise of a golden turkey. It's awesome and wonderful stuffed into tasty. And the duck and sausage stuffing keeps the entire thing so moist you don't need gravy (... but with drippings, you can make some anyway). With the last bird(s) I made for Christmas dinner, I served 12 adults to satisfaction AND I had enough leftovers for lunches days after. Plus, the dinner conversation never faltered -- everyone was talking about how neat it was to be sampling such a unique dish. It may seem pricey, but you have to remember that you don't waste any money buying bones and sinew that you'll throw away when supper's done (as with regular turkeys). If you want to try something different, I doubt you'll be sorry with this.

The Turducken blew away my expectations. It was moist, tender and delicious but it also commanded a…read morelevel of fascination that is unheard of in the poultry world. Everyone was talking about it days in advance and still are days after. All of my guests crowded around to watch me carve this glorious flock of birds melded together. It was easier to prep than a regular(don't tell all of my dinner guests that, though) and did not require the attention of a normal bird. Just peel off the plastic and heat until the thermometer says its good! Carving is also easier and cleaner than wrestling with a half trimmed carcass. I was prepared since I had read the reviews, but be prepared to create your gravy without much for drippings. The Chicken-apple sausage version barely had a drop of grease off of it and would have made for some thin gravy if I didn't have some cheater mix handy. Good job Echelon Foods! @evanedbom
