We ate here years ago when it was called Bahay Kubo and had a terrible experience. I will never forget the pancit malabon that my husband ordered in which they used spaghetti noodles. It was just so wrong. Coming back here, we had low expectations thinking it would be the same restaurant from our last, and so far, only visit.
We were pleasantly surprised that the food quality is better than what we remembered. We ordered kare-kare and sizzling beef sisig. The kare-kare used oxtail as the meat so you know effort was made to make it as authentic as possible. The beef sisig was crispy and tasty even without Knorr seasoning and the serving was substantial. I ended up ordering two glasses of sago gulaman. I heard a lady from another table comment that it was too sweet, and my husband agreed with the lady, but it was perfect for me. The sweeter the better.
A group of three Asian guys came in and I'm glad to see non-Filos eat here. There is a small platform where I guess you go up to sing karaoke, and they have a TV showing TFC. I'm happy that we came back here again as we now have an option for good Filipino food when we're too lazy to cook it ourselves at home. read more
