The park is amazingly big with plenty of room for dogs to run around freely, meet and greet, and play with other dogs. There is a small dog area, a large dog area, and an agility area. There are benches and water fountains in each area. The large dog area has pools in it for dogs to get wet. I do wish there was one in the small dog area however I don't mind going in the large dog area so that my Shadow can enjoy and cool off. The agility area has a few obstacles that pets can run and jump on. The areas are large enough for you to get some steps in, sit and watch your pets, or play with them. While we were there two other dogs and I met some very nice dog owners. I will definitely be taking Shadow at least once a week.

We entered the dog park through the side entrance. Both entrances have a double fence making it easy to leash and unleash your dog and prevent escapees. It seems most people bring their dogs around 5:30/6 pm weekdays. We are looking forward to attending when more dogs are here. The park has equipment, toys, water, and waste stations. The park was clean without holes and dog poop. Overall, we had a good experience here and look forward to returning!

Willow just wanted to meet the other dogs, explore everything and smell all the smells.

They even have a take one leave one poop bag dispenser about every 50 ft along the fence line. Parking is a little bit away but the walk does you good. But for some reason you have to go through the big dog park to get back to the little dog park which can sometimes makes for some very interesting interactions!! Inside Oakwood Dog Park they've got pine chips laid down and LOTS of space and trees for doggie nirvana! There's also some bowls and water if your pooch gets thirsty. As for the clientele, most everyone was pretty well-behaved outside of a couple of over-excited canines. There's wasn't much nipping or territorial behavior and my friend's smallish beagle got along fine even with the bigger ones. They've even got some lawn chairs for owners to lounge on and a sizable parking lot. If you've got a doggie, great space to visit, even on a hot sunny day with all the tree cover. So come on down and visit Oakwood Dog Park, just watch out for the occasional land mines left behind by negligent doggie owners....

I would hope folks that are biking or inline skating remember to look out for pedestrians! I did not see any wildlife but you can expect ducks and geese attracted to the water source. There are a few shaded picnic areas along the trail. The entrance to the park that I used did not have a handicapped entrance - there is a staircase from the parking area to the start of the trail. I think there's another entrance elsewhere. I understand that the park gets quite crowded during peak times so come first thing in the morning and you'll have the bonus of a smooth lake like a sheet of glass.
