I love these because it is exciting for children and engaging while also encouraging literacy and movement during family time. There is so much to do here. I really feel like your kid wouldn't get bored visiting this park. Also there is tons of parking. There were multiple groups celebrating birthdays when we visited on the weekend.

It was especially great for dogs -- there were so many happy pups out enjoying the trail, and the atmosphere felt super friendly and relaxed. A huge plus was how shaded most of the trail is, which made the walk comfortable even on a warmer day. The lake views along the way were beautiful and peaceful, and there are plenty of large grassy areas throughout the park that are perfect for picnics, tossing a ball around, or simply lounging outside with a book. The park itself is also very well maintained with lots of parking, clean restrooms, and helpful amenities. I also liked seeing the workout stations scattered along the trail for anyone wanting to turn their walk into a little fitness moment.

The variety of play experience make this play so popular - sandbox with play excavators, climbing areas, platform rocks, a tree house area, dragon area, water play, slides and Roller slides, instruments, young kids play areas. There is a .5 mike path around a pond adjacent to the park. There are also three picnic tables next to the playground. A small dedicated parking lot with about 25 spots is adjacent. At this time, there is no bathroom available. The playground itself is cute and well thought out. It is a Train theme and the rubbery ground has some printed train tracks and other related pictures. There are three structures -- one for younger children, one for older children, and one for climbing. There are also two kid swings (no infant swings) and one circle swing more than one child can play on. There is no accessible swing in this playground. There's a small fake pond with a crawling log and a stone to climb. Overall, it's a nice playground with good, new equipment. There's a spinning cage to play in for the sensory inclined. There's a "ticket window" for some imaginative play, as well as a small place to sit with a table inside the play area itself. The playground is not fenced but is adjacent to a fenced soccer field. Equipment was hot in the hot summer sun, but that is to be expected when it is 95+ degrees out. The playground is small but has a lot to do, and it would be easy to keep an eye on more than one child at the same time in the space. Lack of a bathroom is annoying, but another excuse to go grab a coffee at the Wake zone then come back to let the kids play more. I look forward to the future greenway connection to Davis Drive playground.

The park is very accessible so I came to appreciate that as I was able to take the ramps and paths to avoid the stairs. The maps and signage make the park easy to navigate. Parking was also very easy; you can park behind the Cary Library, in the Town Hall Deck, in the parking lot on Charlie Gaddy Lane or in street parking spots. I enjoy the public art while strolling through the park. The cardinals in the play area, the water fountain, the Skywalk, the Gathering House, and just taking in nature. The park offers many options for visitors. It is a nice addition for the community.

The walking trail is busy with joggers, walkers and sometimes, dogs, along for the exercise with their humans. The trail circles the small pond and winds through the trees. Although in the fall you can see the homes in the back of the park, during the summer you'll maybe never see them when the large trees are fully in bloom. The shelter, the grounds, the dock, the asphalt trail, the play equipment, appears well maintained. Fishing is allowed, with a license from the town of Apex, making this a perfect little spot for low-key relaxing in a not-so-intimidating setting.
