That or if he was too domesticated he'd be made an "ambassador" used for learning and educational purposes. In less than 72 hours you had him sent to his death for no reason. He was full of love, and trust. He gave no symptoms of rabies. And you murdered him in cold blood. HIS NAME WAS BUDDY AND HE WAS SO LOVED! There's no raccoon habitat for rehabilitation. It's an act and a script you feed desperate pet owners to gain their trust and take their loved coons to be murdered. He wasn't wild. He wasn't aggressive. And he wasn't rabid. He was a good boy. He was happy in his home. He was supposed to live a long life. You cut that life short at 5 months old. He was perfect. And you murdered him! To the Management and Administration of Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary, ​I am writing to formally demand accountability and full transparency regarding the surrender and immediate euthanasia of our 5-month-old raccoon, Buddy. ​When we contacted your facility following communication with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, we were given clear assurances regarding his intake. We were explicitly told that Buddy would be evaluated for wild rehabilitation or, if found to be too habituated, retained as an educational ambassador. ​We entrusted him to your facility based directly on those representations. ​Instead, within less than 72 hours, Buddy was euthanized. He exhibited zero symptoms of illness, distress, or aggression, and was completely habituated and healthy. ​Given the stark contradiction between what your staff promised prior to intake and the outcome that immediately followed, I am demanding direct answers to the following questions: ​What specific diagnostic, behavioral, or medical criteria were used to authorize his immediate euthanasia within 72 hours? ​Why were options for educational placement or sanctuary transfer ruled out after explicit assurances were made that these were valid pathways? ​Is it standard policy at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary to assure surrendering individuals of rehabilitation or ambassador placement when immediate euthanasia is the intended intake protocol? ​The public and community members who turn to your organization in good faith deserve truthful communication about the actual protocols applied to surrendered animals. ​I expect a formal written response detailing the internal intake records, staff notes, and justification for Buddy's outcome. ​Alexandra Balthazor

We started on the trail but quickly lost it and so we headed back after a short hike. But the view of the falls and woods is beautiful so we enjoyed ourselves anyway. I guess we just got our timing wrong. As we got back to the car we found ourselves parked among many trucks with bow hunters. They were friendly and heading deeper into the property but we felt it was time to leave since we did not have any blaze orange on and our dogs were with us. I imagine spring is a better time to visit and I will check further before we visit again. There is no parking or entry fee, but there is a box for donations as you feel are appropriate.

We have friends whose hobby is to visit waterfalls in Wisconsin. Found this idea worthy of copying…read more Our first outing was to Fonferek's Glen. We got to a crowded parking lot, and parked in one of the few empty spots. The walk to to waterfall overlook is easy if not a bit muddy. This is a pretty waterfall about twenty feet high. There are trails that take you around and down to the bottom of the falls. Nice spot to visit and take pictures. There are no restrooms or picnic areas, just the falls. I have to add social commentary here. We met about thirty people walking to and from the falls. The twenty something's walked by with their eyes firmly on the ground. The forty something's looked up and said hello back. The sixty somethings made eye contact, smiled and said a pleasant hello. Generational differences were apparent. Bottom line, this is a very pretty spot for a quick visit. Be respectful of the private property.

We stayed at the Peshtigo outpost, but did activities at both Peshtigo and Menominee outpost. At the Peshtigo outpost, there are camping facilities for any level of camper. Tenting to cabin with bathroom and kitchen. Let me start with the booking... they were so fantastic at setting up a great itinerary for us for our short stay! The zipline was awesome, and the views were beautiful! We did the rafting at Peshtigo in single person rafts and it could not have been more fun and picturesque! The alpine tower was tricky for me, but not for the rest of my group, they soared through it! EVERY SINGLE guide we had was so friendly and so kind! We can't wait to come back and stay longer! A group of 4 of us decided on a whim to go whitewater rafting, and it ended up being such a fun…read moreday! The day before our trip, Kosir's called to let us know the water levels on the Peshtigo were low and offered to switch us over to the Menominee instead. I really appreciated that they called ahead and gave us options to make sure we still had a great experience. When 2 more friends decided to join us a day before, they had no problem adding them to our reservation. The whole process was super easy from start to finish. Our guide, Mike, was amazing. He had us laughing the entire trip and was constantly telling jokes, and I felt completely safe the whole time. He answered all of our random rafting questions and was really knowledgeable about the river. The Menominee was a blast, and Mike made sure we got the full experience. The rapids were a ton of fun, we got to jump in and swim in the river, and he even took us "surfing" on the rapids. They also had a professional photographer (shoutout to Michael!) taking photos throughout the trip. Looking through the pictures afterward and seeing everyone's facial expressions was honestly hilarious, and he got the photos uploaded so quickly that we were able to start sharing them almost immediately. Overall, I would definitely recommend Kosir's. Great communication, super accommodating and friendly staff, and an all-around awesome experience!

I visited this lovely conservancy area for a quick visit when I was in the Green Bay / De Pere…read morearea. Osprey Point is 80 acres, and it a beautiful place to wander around. But be smarter than me and put on bug spray! I got so many mosquito bites during my short stay. Granted, I visited right after it rained, so all of the little bug were out and looking for fresh blood. Along with mosquitos, I also saw wild turkeys! I was surprised and delighted to see them in the brush, but apparently wild turkeys are common around this area. I've never seen one in the wild, though! So to me, it was kind of cool. There's also an osprey nest on the grounds somewhere, but I never saw it. There are two ponds here, where you can go fishing, if you wish. If you don't wish to fish, you can feed the fish if you have a quarter: There's a fish food dispenser by the pond. Osprey Point is a nice little park to walk around and see some Wisconsin nature. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
