We went to a few restaurants by chef Jose Avillez and he does not disappoint! Went to Minibar a few years ago and had a wonderful experience. Last night we went to the 2 Michelin starred establishment Belcanto - was blown away by the wonderful food and service. Here at Bairro do Avillez, which is Aire casual setting and seafood-centric, the best dish was absolutely the seafood stew with the super-sized scarlet shrimp. The rice in the stew was cooked perfect, the flavor impeccable and the seafood (claims, garlic shrimps, crab meat) are top notch and screaming freshness from the ocean. We also started with some beef carpaccio that was fantastic.

I chose Pateo at Bairro do Avillez for my birthday dinner and I was thrilled with the experience. I'm a huge Jose Avillez fan and Pateo had been on my list for a while. Bairro do Avillez has a variety of dining sections, but I liked the Pateo menu best. When reserving, be sure to look at the menus and reserve for the correct section. Pateo has a fun, slightly upscale vibe, but the whole place is bustling. And the location is great--you can easily walk into Bairro Alto and Santa Catarina. Everything at Pateo was great. We shared couvert and sangria. Couvert is a must here--the bread is so good. I went with the sea bass as my entree and it was grilled to perfection. I loved it. Being at an Avillez restaurant, I of course had to order the avela (hazelnut dessert), and it was just as decadent as I remembered. My friends enjoyed their entrees and desserts, as well. Service was fantastic. Pateo was the perfect place for a celebratory dinner and I can't wait to explore more of Bairro do Avillez.

Quick tip: there are like 3 separate areas - front is like a casual pub, middle is a open casual dining and then an upper area, for large parties. We made a reservation for the middle dining area (terrace?) - big open space with full bar view, trendy vibe. However - we were seated next to a table with like 3 screaming kids... not so fun. lol Service was great, attentive and not overwhelming. Didn't rush us and gave us space to enjoy our convo. We were partially shouting bc we had competing loud screams in the background. A party of 6, got wine, lots of food to try, we enjoyed ourselves, first night in Lisbon! Most memorable: - Deconstructed nata - Grilled/broiled sea bass - lobster risotto - octopus tartar Happy feasting! #yelplife #lisboa

I believe there are three sections of this restaurant and each section has it's own menu. We dined at the Pateo and I wasn't impressed. I think there is way better Portuguese food around for more affordable prices. Nothing about the dish was particularly unique yet our plates were about $30 each. I had a different friend dine at the front part of the restaurant (that part might be called the bar?) which is more small plates. They said that was delicious so maybe try that instead.

I've eaten at Mr. Avillez's restaurants in the past and the food was great. This place? A mess, total downer. It's 2pm on a Monday so it's dead. Immediately I was handed an additional menu . I was on the patio. The two items I wanted, the octopus and prawns, were on both menus but more expensive on the menu for inside seating. Same preparation. Thanks for the blatant up-sell guys. The staff are completely confused. So many whirling about quick to clear a table but have zero ambition to 'serve'. Within a few minutes the staff stepped on a patron's dog, chased down a couple because the restaurant messed up their check and required them to pay again and a couple asked about the fact they were charged for something that was 'gratis' or on the house. The staff look completely miserable. Which was the vibe. Patrons with money pose as the staff try, in vein, to exude apathy. The food. I ordered the octopus in chili and Kimchi broth and a side, a small bowl of cherry tomatoes. Squid was good but heavy heavy garlic oil salt. I dumped the completely tasteless tomatoes into the small bowl my squid was in and it totally helped cut all the oil salt and garlic. I love garlic and oil and salt but the squid in its own would've needed something anything with it. Bread! The staff could care less about recommendations or whether or not I was bleeding out on the street. I asked for the check and one of the drones buzzed away never to be heard from again. I wasn't in a hurry so waited a while to see if someone would bother, and you shouldn't either. So many great eateries in this town, try them. This IS NOT a picture of the squid from Páteo - Bairro do Avillez. It's of a simple bowl of peppers lime juice and octopus around the corner at Ricardo Bar. 9€. Dig it.

Dinner reservations is a must at Bairro do Avillez, one of Chef Jose Avillez's many restaurants. There are three restaurants located in Bairro do Avillez - Taberna for tapas, Páteo for seafood, and Beco for dinner-and-a-show in experience. My friend and I love seafood and we were very lucky to snag last minute reservations to dine at Páteo. We literally got our reservations a few days prior. When we arrived for our reservation, we waited about 15 minutes, then we were walked through Taberna and waited in a cocktail area for drinks. Although we saw a lot of empty tables in Páteo (our reservations were before the dinner rush), we still had to wait another 20 minutes to be seated. We received fresh pieces of bread, accompanied by olives and butter as an appetizer. For starters, we chose razor clams and prawns with garlic and chili. I couldn't get enough of the prawn's garlic and chili sauce with the bread. It was such a great mix! For my main dish, I chose the grilled sea bass, which was beautifully cooked. We had the Pastel De Nata Mille-Feuille for dessert, and it was light and delicious. Food was good but extremely overpriced and portions were quite small for the price. The ambiance was nice but service was quite slow. Mediocre experience. For the price and hype, we expected more. Still a buzzing atmosphere and overall impressive achievement.

Arguably Portugal's most noteworthy Chef, Michelin two-starred Belcanto the crown jewel of Lisbon's fine dining scene, Bairro do Avillez is a 4-in-1 concept focused on more traditional fare from José Avillez. Translated as Avillez' neighborhood, a sloping street in Chiado home to the former convent now containing Páteo, Tavern, Bar and Pizzeria, it was after checking in outside that a seat beneath high ceilings was occupied in a room near full capacity. Loaded with local art, ceramics and murals surrounding bars and open kitchens, it was with Water poured and Bread served that a lengthy menu was perused, everything from fresh Shellfish to Ferran Adrià's Olives surrounding Chef Avillez's interpretation of Portuguese tradition. Offering some of Portugal's premier Charcuterie, a Foie Gras Terrine with Figs and Brioche simple yet decadent, Empanadas here come as small Pies featuring Partridge, Bacon and Onions inside a delicate golden Crust. Careful not to overindulge on Cornbread, a more difficult task than it seems, Stuffed Spider Crab comes in the style of José's Café Lisboa in a creamy portion large enough to share while Bras-style Cod sees classic technique and modernism merge to create something hearty and comforting. Surely a space best suited for groups, a quote from the Chef stating "Nothing makes us happier than being in good company, sharing the dishes we enjoy the most," Desserts are thankfully less sizable, though deciding between Bairro's Chocolate Cake and a Pastel de Nata Mille-Feuille is a difficult enough task that ordering one of each is advisable.

Came for lunch. Extremely slow and unresponsive service, it took a while for them to get their act together, it even took forever to receive a menu after we were seated. With that being said, the food was amazing. The chilled prawns were so good, fresh and sweet. The octopus came in a cast iron pan with a delicious sauce. When eaten with bread, it was so amazing I think I scooped up every last drop. Go to enjoy the food but with no expectations on the service. I really wanted to give 3 stars due to the service, but the food really was out of this world.

As more casual restaurant by José Avillez, my GF and I were expecting a little more than just a watered down menu with mediocre execution and super fast pacing. I understand we ordered mostly small plates and finger foods but when you are sitting at a small 2 top, it doesn't make sense to bring out the there small plates at once followed right after by the sandwich and fries board. With our drinks and open small plates and utensils it was cramped even for just having small plates. Just a minor annoyance, so no big deal. The biggest issues was that none of the food really stood out or was that special. The "linguica" bread had nice smoke and the salad was refreshing but the bread itself was really mushy. Had they just seared one side to give a better texture contrast in addition to the more crunchy apples and asparagus it would have made it a much better dish. The cod fritter lettuce wrap was just mayo/aioli drizzled over thin potato crisps on a piece of romaine. It was extremely difficult to split, and had it just been for one it ate very very messy with just one bite. More of a basic, crumbly cup than lettuce wrap. The octopus with potatoes and kimchi was decent, but probably my least favorite octopus of my trip through Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon. Small precut pieces in a salty broth with soggy potatoes. The kimchi flavor wasn't pronounced and if you've had legit kimchi from Korea or your local Koreatown you too would be expecting more brightness. Lastly, the sucking pig sandwich. Decent flavors, good accompaniments, solid break ratio but that skin was not Crispy at all. That's the best part of any roast pork dish! The best part was the fries with a smoky aioli and tomato sauce. For the price and the pedigree we were expecting a little more. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes but we weren't really places with any of the 4 that we ordered. When the fries and beers were the best part of your meal, that says a lot. I'd say, save your money and time and go to the more touristy Time Out market where if you pick and choose wisely you'll get a better meal at a better value. (Octopus at Marlene Vieira, suckling pig at Henrique Sa Pessoa and fish at Alexandre Silva)

One of celebrity chef, Jose Avillez's restaurants in Lisbon, this location was lively and fun. We had a variety of starters and mains for lunch. Service was pretty good. The cod lettuce wrap is very good, as mentioned by many Yelp reviewers. Octopus was our favorite item at lunch. It was garlicky, the octopus was cooked perfectly as well. I can't remember the exact name of the meat pie but there was a Portuguese traditional meat pie that was very tasty. The portion was so small though. Finally, we had grilled pork strips which were pretty good as well. Unfortunately this place is pricey so not great value, in my opinion. I liked the decor though, and it had a good energy about it.

Having had a fantastic meal at Belcanto, José Avillez's 2 starred Michelin restaurant, a few days prior, I was so looking forward to Bairro do Avillez to see his work in a more casual setting. Sadly, my friends and I were quite disappointed. The food is supremely overpriced, and the portions small. Despite spending over €200 for 4 people, we were still so hungry that we ended up going to Time Out afterward to get more food. (My appetite is on the smallish side, and I often share just an appetizer and an entree with my husband). The service was also atrocious. Getting our order taken was a bit of an ordeal. We asked for a bottle of water (in addition to the wine and sangria we ordered) and for them to not bring us the couvert. They brought the bread, and we had to ask two more times for the bottle of water. Two of our dishes did not come out and when we mention it to our waitress, her response was "No". Her attitude the whole night had been like she was doing us a favor by talking to us. We were sure we ordered those two dishes because one of them was steak, and she had asked us how we wanted it done and wrote it down. It was only after we listed the two dishes and she consulted her notepad that she went back to check on them. The items from the Taberna menu were overall better than the Pateo menu with the highlights of the meal being the mackerel tartare cones at €5/piece (not shareable), octopus, and the aged beef picanha. The exploding olives were just alright, and that's coming from someone who loved olives and dirty martinis. The pork neck was good, but not mind blowing. The bellota ham was tasty, but not sliced well which made it a little less enjoyable. All the items from the Pateo menu were about the same size as the tapas from the Taberna menu but at double the price and not as good, especially compared to other much better restaurants we'd been to in Lisbon. We had the seafood soup, the prawns with chili and garlic, the lobster and shrimp rice, and the eye filet steak. With so many better options in Lisbon, I'd skip this cramped overrated overpriced unfriendly place.

Came for dinner and the wait was long. Didn't make reservations, which was my main problem. They have some waiting areas but it is packed with people. Once we got seated, ordered some chourico, bacalhau, picanha and fries. The food was good and not overly priced. The restaurant was very vibrant and although service could be better, it was not an issue. Had a decent meal.

Went to Taberna. Great food. You will be ordering bread if you order the clams, to sop up the broth. The piri-piri chicken was amazingly tender and flavorful. Great service, friendly and prompt without feeling rushed like the US. Not stuffy. Great ambiance, modern mixed with historic, high ceilings, open kitchen. Iberian ham hanging around kitchen. Eat here after going to all of the tourist places and experience instant regret for not coming here earlier. read more
Stopped in before leaving Lisbon as I was told that you need to try bacalhau a bras. The interior of this restaurant is stunning. And the waitress was so kind - she essentially gave us a private tour and the history on the place, including the speakeasy in the back that's inside an ancient church. We sat in the middle section where it's very light and cheery. The food was great - had two bacalhau dishes, one of which came with "exploding" olives. Our waitress was very helpful. Would definitely return. read more
Cool vibes! Very pretty inside. So much seating! We had a dinner reservation for a party of 6 at 8:15 pm on 10/22/25. We were seated right away. We split a few appetizers with the whole table and each got our own entree. Here's what I tried: - Tuna Tartare (18€): Good! - Green Bean Tempura (7€): Perfectly fried. Really hit the spot. - Grilled Sea Bass with Shrimp Rice (37.5€): Very delicious. - Bitoque (29.5€): We weren't impressed with this one. The fries were good. But if we went here again, we'd stick to the seafood. Very tasty! Would definitely try the chef's other restaurants if we have the chance! read more

Don't come here. I went on my first night in Lisbon and it was a major mistake. The wait staff is horrifically rude. The waitress deliberately lied about the dish I ordered and laughed in my face when it came, despite me not having said anything. I told the waitress I cannot drink gin. She brought me gin instead of tequila. As we left to go outside, the waitress followed and laughed behind my family and I. And the food is horrible. One bite of the dish I got and I almost got sick. And it looks like a cafeteria inside. Not a great setting. There are so many wonderful places to eat in Lisbon. This is not one of them. read more

Truly delicious food. We sat outside and ate from the small plates menu and shared several dishes including shrimp in oil with red chilis, chicken Piri piri, shrimp in coconut milk and cashews served with rice. The service was excellent, drinks were really good. We ate here twice we loved it so much. It was a great memory from our trip we won't forget! read more

Great food and service. Wide range of choices for main and apps. Innovative menu. We had a fun evening.
Excellent food forward menu with a modern twist in Portugeuse cuisine, we ordered the entire menu to try everything on our last nite in town and we we return, this will be the first restaurant we go back to. Service was over the top, even for a very friendly tourist town like Lisboa. Very casual ambiance, didn't feel the need to dress too fancy, just very relaxed. read more

BEWARE! Do not let them set down the starter bread! They will charge you for that... €4.15 per person labeled as "couvert pateo." And had the nerve to ask for tip, which was optional. Obviously, we left none. Scammers! read more

Bairro do Avillez is a trendy, casual, chef-driven tapas bar, seafood restaurant, and pizzeria all in one! The tabernas (tapas) menu seemed the most appealing to me, so to start, we had the XL Exploding Olives, a product of molecular gastronomy. These were two orbs made to resemble two large green olives, and the skin of the "olives" exploded on the tongue, releasing a burst of flavorful liquid. The octopus with fried garlic and sweet potato was an iron skillet of thinly sliced octopus served in a liquidy kimchi sauce, but my favorite dish was the Taberna's Beefsteak Sandwich, which came with a super juicy, tender cut of steak in between two rounds of chewy Bolo do Caco bread and paired with a spread of a creamy, slightly spicy mustard butter. The delicious sandwich was served with thinly-cut fries, which were topped with a tomato-based "Taberna's sauce," along with dollops of mayonnaise and bacon bits, which added an unctuous, umami flavor. On top of the delicious food, the service here was so friendly and enthusiastic about the menu--our server gave us his recommendations and explained in particular detail how to enjoy the exploding olives! read more
Very cool and fun place. They don't take reservations so we took our chances two weeks ago on a Sunday night. The place was packed, and they told us the wait at the Taberna would be around 1.5 hours.I wouldn't normally have the patience to wait that long; however, you can order food and drinks at the waiting area bar or the patio bar, which really kills the time. The patio bar is fun and lively. Our bartender was really nice and even gave us a complimentary shot of liquor. This spot is probably the best people-watching area in the restaurant. After about an hour, we finally got our table at the taberna, right by the door. All night long, people kept streaming in, waiting to be seated. By the time we left, it wasn't as crowded as when we got there but there were still a lot of people so don't really know what time the crowd dies down and it's easier to get a seat. Food was good though not comparable to our meal earlier in the week at A Cevicheria. Service was also attentive, and prices were reasonable. read more

It's good, but not as good as it thinks it is. Food is solid, staff have an attitude. We started with beef croquettes - absolutely delicious. Main was a prawn and cashew nut curry which was over-salted. Dessert was a chocolate mousse that was very well-executed. They include a tip when they run your card and it would be nice to be give a choice on that. It was ok, but the food and atmosphere is better elsewhere. read more

A rare treat to try this wonderful restaurant in the posh part of Lisbon. A good 20 minutes walk from the cruise terminal. Take a tuk tuk for an easier quest. Well worth the effort. The best tasting roast octopus over black ink rice. Tender steak cooked to perfection. Tasty baked beans and sautéed vegetables are all that we tried. But really really good to the pallet. Go for it is you are in the area. Follow the chef. read more

An absolute MUST! For the food, the atmosphere, & experience. Bairro do Avillez-Pateo was where I treated myself to my first traditional Portuguese dish, Acorda de camarao. I loved watching the chefs dance in the kitchen while I sipped on my wine. My serve was so courteous to serve my dish the traditional way. I enjoyed every aspect of this exquisite venue. This place has an incredible ambiance, but you soon realize it falls short in what matters the most--the food + service. We went on a Friday and it was as if hell let loose! Nothing was in order, but for the interior design which as I alluded to before is indeed notably impressive. We waited patiently to be seated for approximately an hour--which is not generally an issue for us, however, were soon thereafter very disappointed by the caliber of the food. Among a few other plates, we ordered the Prawns with Garlic and Chili and Fish Rice, both of which were overcooked and tasted as if they had been abandoned under a heat lamp for days. Moreover, the service was friendly yet nevertheless incompetent. They could not get anything right and it was clear they were in chaos mode the entire time. Also, please note that the food is grossly overpriced and they also charge you for an ambiguous "patio service" fee! What could have been a 5 star rating resulted in a 1 star review. read more
This was my favorite of all his places! I indulged tonight with the his house wine and seafood! All under 100 euros!!! The razor clams were my fav but a bit sandy at the end :/. My sea bass was cooked to perfection and my husband's choice of the squid did not disappoint. The squid ink risotto was divine! All in all the atmosphere was warm and welcoming! We made reservations for the dining area in the back of the restaurant- the front of the house is a bit chaotic and with a different menu! This place is definitely kid friendly for those tods that can sit though a meal. Mine behaved welcome and the wait staff was very welcoming! For dessert, we ordered the passion fruit with coconut ice cream!! Please get it! It is out of this world! read more

Beautiful restaurant with mural and back spaces that are actually separate menus. One is Peruvian and the other more traditional Portuguese fare. The front Taberna has delicious charcuterie and cheese platters with wine list where you can't go wrong. Favorites were the fried cod lettuce wrap-- all four of us loved the flavor combos and crisp with crunch and soft cod center. The beefsteak sandwich done medium was also tender and perfectly seasoned. The acorn fed jamon was deeply flavored, flaming red color and not too salty. We porked out! Octopus was sliced and braised in kimchi sauce. Wowsah. Staff was exceptional from start to finish. Their vibe was one where you can tell they enjoy what they're doing. And so helpful with ordering. Especially since none of us spoke the native tongue. Would go again and send others. Get there early too since it gets crowded! read more

WARNING: This is €€€ not €€ as indicated. We dined as a family (2 adults and 3 preteens) in the atrium section. The front section only serves tapas/small plates. We ordered family style and shared 3 dishes and 2 sides. While the food tasted excellent, the portions tend to be gourmet size and priced. We requested an additional side of basmati rice and received what appeared to be a prisoners ration (3€) Definitely 4 stars in quality but only 3 when considering value for the price 115€. Further reduced to 2 stars ... when we received the conta, there was a 18€ charge for bread service which we did not request and were not offered an opportunity to decline. Apparently pick-pocketing is not a problem restricted to the trams in Lisbon. read more

Came here 2 times during my stay in Lisbon and I have to say this is now one of my favorite restaurants that I will always go back to when I'm there. Seriously from the interior to the service to the food - everything was always perfect. If you would like to eat here for dinner, I highly recommend you make a reservation! They do accept walk-ins, but that's if you're really lucky on timing. In terms food here is what I recommend trying: Giant prawn - ordered both times I was there, definitely a little pricey, but insanely delicious!! Worth it. Never had something like this in NY Octopus with garlic and kimchi sauce - was a little hesitant, but surprisingly so good!!! Really loved it Spicy pork popcorn - it's contained in a really tiny cup, it was definitely yummy. I would call it a cute little snack Crispy cod lettuce wrap - it was like a codfish taco, but it was wrapped with a fresh crunchy lettuce. Super delicious, but not as unique as the others Cod with cornbread and chorizo crumbs - I personally thought there was a little too much going on. The cod alone was so delicious. Not my favorite, but still really good Aged beef picanha - pretty delicious, nothing special Grilled Iberian pork strips - again pretty delicious, nothing special Chocolate cake - You have to get this. Got it the 2 times that I went. So bomb. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this place. You will not leave unhappy. read more

The set up here is kind of like a food hall with a couple of different restaurants within 1. We wanted a lighter menu for lunch after a few days of heavy eating, so we went for the Páteo area (the 2nd restaurant area after you walk in). Service was a little slow to start (some reviews mentioned this), but it was ultimately fine. Bread service : €3.60/person for olive bread, corn bread, bread from the alentejo region (lIke a sourdough): It comes with olives, smoked butter, and azorean butter. The olive bread was generous on the olives, warm, and crusty - really good. Olives were also nicely cured - not too salty. It was worth it to try this bread service. Food: - Acorn fed Iberian pork dry cured ham (Portuguese): nicely marbled, a bit gamey for me - different from Spanish Iberico - Razor clams with garlic, lemon, and bay leaf: it's hard to find razor clams in the US, so we had to get these. The portion size was big, and the clams were great - Giant Tiger prawns: like a mini lobster - super sweet and fresh - Seafood soup: fragrant seafood bisque with shrimp - very flavorful, rich - Grilled chicken salad: yes, I got a grilled chicken salad in Lisbon because I needed to detox from all the other heavy things we were eating. It was actually a very solid salad with charred onions, bacon, super sweet tomatoes, avocado, and chicken breast - Prawn açorda: Portuguese shrimp and bread stew with a raw egg yolk. This was definitely heavier than the seafood soup. I wanted to try there prawn açorda since it was a more unique Portuguese dish, but it was probably my least favorite. If you get it, it's good for sharing (too much on its own for one person). The seafood soup, razor clams, and the giant tiger prawn were definitely the highlights. A MUST GO! Our first dinner in Lisbon and we didn't know where to go. A friend had recommended a place with a "picture of a pig" on the wall. After some "googling" we found out it was Bairro do Avillez. We called to make a reservation (a reservation is a MUST) and realized it was multiple restaurants in one and you pick where you want to eat. We chose the "fish" part called Pateo. Words can't describe how outstanding this meal was. We started with a local Portuguese white wine and had octopus and also razor back clams (in a garlic, lemon and butter sauce). The octopus was tender, juicy and succulent. The clams were delicious! The portion was generous and they melted in your mouth. You could taste the freshness of the fish in each bite. For our main dish, we had grilled squid with black ink rice and the Bras Cod Stew with "exploding" olives (recommended by our fantastic server). The squid was perfectly tender with a hint of heat from the kimchi mayo. It balanced perfectly with the flavors of the black ink rice. The cod stew was served in a small copper soup pot. When you removed the lid, you are overtaken by the delicious aroma of the stew. Big fresh pieces of cod married with fresh herbs and spices. It was truly amazing! We finished the meal with 2 glasses of 20 year old port which was velvety and smooth to the taste! We highly recommend coming here (you definitely need a reservation). We chose the fish restaurant but we must say the Charcuterie section was packed and looked terrific as well! read more

Good food. Tiny portion but super overpriced . Expect to pay at least 30 euros per person and still walk out the door feeling hungry waiter as kinda rude which is unusual for a country where everyone is super friendly and polite. . read more
Had my first meal in Lisbon and it did not disappoint for lunch. At first, the hostess had said that there was no room and the wait was going to be an hour. Luckily, there were tables in the back where you can grab a drink and wait but my wait was only 20 minutes. Ordered the Portuguese meat and cheese platter, giant red shrimp and pig trotters. The meat and cheese platter came with two meats and two cheeses. I would probably skip the bread service next time as it wasn't anything special. The best part about the meal was the giant red shrimp - it was a bit pricy but definitely worth it! The shrimp was juicy, tender and flavorful. I'm hungry just thinking about the shrimp. Pig trotters with cilantro and peppermint had an interesting flavor profile. It was definitely more intense than the first two plates. It is fattier and needs to be eaten with bread. If you're not a fan of pork or glutinous food, then this dish isn't for you. The rose that was available by the glass was also amazing as it was light and crisp. I could have probably drank a whole bottle by myself. If I had just ordered the shrimp and the rose, then I would have definitely rated this place 5 stars. read more
My main issue here was service. As a New Yorker I need to be careful of how fast I can expect something but everyone here was zoned out. The hostess could not get her game together and the somehow she turned into our waiter but then back to hostess. It became confusing and it was clear because we were getting no service. I finally said something with some disgruntled to get things in gearbox was good. Decor nice. But I fear the service if I was to return. read more

I see all these reviews and wonder if I even ate at the same restaurant as everyone else. This is some of the most mediocre food I've eaten in a while, and every other meal in Lisbon was so good it made me that much angrier that this "celebrity chef" can't figure out how to serve decent food. We ordered a handful of items along with a couple of cocktails. Here's how it broke down: +Suckling pig sandwich This sounded so delicious and was the biggest letdown. This sandwich was maybe 90% gelatinous pork fat. I want to say maybe there's some cultural difference here and this just isn't something my palate is used to, but regardless for us it was inedible. The sandwich was also pretty tiny and the presentation of the fries that came with it made them look sadder than McDonalds. +Beef croquettes These were alright, just kind of bland. Not sure how that happens when you deep fry meat, but it's possible. +Selection of meat and cheeses How could this go wrong you ask? It was just boring as hell. Nothing special about the selections (again an area where this restaurant suffers by comparison, we had an exceptional version of this the day after that highlighted how poor it was), and totally bare. Not an olive or a jam or a spread or anything else to make this come to life a bit. +Baked cod with chorizo crumbs and potatoes This was the only thing that actually tasted pretty good. However, it looked like dog food. The cod and the potato were buried under a presentation of 50% crumbs and 50% gravy. I don't understand why you would make something that actually tastes good look so unappetizing? We also ordered a couple cocktails, one pretty good and one so watered down we tried to change it for the first one...which when they brought out then tasted completely different from the first drink. While the restaurant was beautiful, it was also totally off putting to have this "chef" smiling down at you from several copies of his book, which if I had to guess is probably a how-to for tricking people into coming to your awful restaurant. I truly regret having spent both my time and my 70 euros here. read more

Espaço super simpático, atendimento impecável e a comida incrível. Jantamos na taberna, os petiscos são ótimos.. o bacalhau com broa estava muito bom! O naco de atum também, só devia ter vindo um bocadinho mais mal passado ..mas o sabor era QQ coisa! O prego do lombo super macio. A tábua para entrada tinha uma oferta simpática de queijos e presuntos, o cone de carapau é divinal! A sangria branca acompanhou MT bem! Estava ótima. Para finalizar não podíamos deixar de provar os doces.. o leite creme e o pastel de nata c gelado de café são a cereja no topo do bolo! Recomendo :) read more

Terrific cervejaria/gastropub type experience in Baixa-Chiado. A combination of portuguese traditional dishes and progressive variants, with the food very well executed. Great cheese offerings (try the serra da estrella) and a very good drink and wine list. Great spot for a casual dinner or a lazy afternoon meal. Could not recommend more. read more

We went to the Mini Bar restaurant for a birthday dinner, and it was excellent. The waitress, Francisca, provided excellent service, explaining the dishes and recommending the best wines. She even surprised the birthday girl, making the moment even more special. The food was delicious and the atmosphere fantastic. read more
